Chapter 37 - Dependent clans

Enlil, the handsome young man, sat on a bench in a lush green garden, lost in deep thought.

"Now that I'm alone, I reflect on my plans. Chen Renxiu returned two days after I woke up. As an empress, it wasn't easy for her to leave the kingdom, but she came upon hearing about my injury.

Over these days, I've been contemplating recent events and remembered Lina. Unfortunately, she had already left for the City of Killing, despite winning the tournament. Perhaps she felt inadequate compared to Chen Renxiu's power, or maybe fate decreed her departure. I'm not entirely sure.

I've decided to disregard her for now, as the City of Killing may differ from its portrayal in the story.

Then I considered the rest of Shrek's team. Should I eliminate them? After some reflection, their abilities seem weakened due to their use of the Spirit Herb. Only Oscar still appears to have significant talent. I decided to inform Beibei Dong to send someone to handle him.

I went to Beibei Dong's palace, hoping she was still there. A guard recognized me and allowed me to enter. I found her sitting on her throne, reviewing documents.

"What brings you here, Enlil? It's unusual for you to visit," she said calmly.

Perspective: Beibei Dong

"Well, I have matters to discuss that could aid your plan to build an empire." I was surprised by his knowledge of such a secret. Despite my internal shock, I maintained my composure and scrutinized him, wondering about his abilities.

"Tell me what it is," I said quietly, masking my emotions.

Perspective: Enlil

I noticed her displeasure and realized she believed my discovery was due to my eyes. I spared myself the trouble of inventing a lie.

"I want to warn you about the Four Clans. They might collaborate with the Haotian Sect to threaten the Spirit Hall," I said calmly.

"Impossible. The Haotian Sect abandoned them in the previous war. It's unlikely they would cooperate again. Besides, the Haotian Sect should be weak now, and I don't think they would leave their hideout," she said thoughtfully.

"Your information seems incorrect. According to my sources, the Haotian Sect now has more than four members at the Ninth Spirit Ring level, and the Power Clan is under Tang San, Tang Hao's son. The other clans might follow suit," I explained.

"Tang San, Tang Hao's son?" she murmured, recalling information about the Power Clan leader's admiration for Tang Hao.

"Yes, and he holds a significant grudge against me and the Spirit Hall," I added, remembering my confrontation with Xiao Wu.

"Since you've uncovered this, what's your advice?" she asked with curiosity, wanting to know his opinion. Someone with those eyes might have insights others don't, and she didn't rule out the possibility that his eyes could foresee the future.

"I don't think the other three clans have agreed yet. You could negotiate with them to bring them here. If they agree, they are unlikely to betray later, as it would bring disgrace to their families," I suggested.

"Why not just eliminate them?" she asked, intrigued.

"Well, those rituals are useful for many purposes. Killing them would be wasteful, but if they refuse, you may proceed with eliminating them," I replied calmly.

"Alright, I'll follow your advice. As for the Power Clan, I'll destroy them; it seems the previous lesson wasn't enough," she said, her aura slightly changing.

"And regarding my plan, I've decided to set it aside. I have a new goal: to be forgiven by my daughter," she said sadly, reflecting on her daughter who refuses to forgive her.

I was taken aback. I didn't expect such a response. Although she previously sought forgiveness from Chen Renxiu, it wasn't to this extent. Perhaps something recent made her realize the gravity of her past actions.

"There's no need to abandon your plan. Building an empire isn't a problem. As you know, empires are always in conflict. They only paused recently due to the threat from the Spirit Hall. Building an empire might resolve this issue and atone for some of your sins. It could also relieve your daughter from her current burdensome position. You wouldn't want all her hard work to go to waste."

"Yes, you're right. If I do that and make her empress, she might forgive me," she said with a smile.

I was surprised by her smile but quickly composed myself, bid her farewell, and left.

As for me, I decided to head to Poseidon Island and attempt the trial there. I might encounter and kill a Spirit Beast along the way; the type of skill doesn't matter as it will eventually become Susanoo. It's sufficient that the ring is advanced.

After making my decision, I went to the inner temple, where I found someone there.

"Hello, great priest. I'm going to Poseidon Island to attempt the trial."

"What? How do you know about the trial on this island? And how do you know about the island itself?" he asked, astonished, as this place was not well known.

"Don't underestimate me; I'm the husband of your granddaughter. Anyway, the island isn't entirely unknown," I said, observing his scowl.

"Hmph, if you won't say, then don't mention it. Not that I care. As for Chen Renxiu, you can only dream," he replied, annoyed by my claim.

"Anyway, I'm leaving," I said as I walked away.

He didn't say anything further; he just watched me with a contemplative expression.

I left and went to Beibei Dong to inform her about killing Oscar.

A Few Days Later...

Now, I am a short distance from Poseidon Island. I haven't found a suitable beast yet, but I encountered a pirate ship. I'm not sure if it's the same ship Tang San faced in the story, but whether it is or not, I killed them all. I do not tolerate those who try to steal from me.

As Enlil sat in the small boat drifting slowly over the calm waters, he took advantage of the tranquility to regain his focus and reflect on his journey since arriving in this world. Although he might deny it, he currently has no real goal except to become stronger. However, this might not be considered a true goal, as there's nothing left to do once he becomes stronger.

He closed his eyes to reflect and remembered his goals when he was younger: ending the war in the ninja world and exploring new places and adventures. As a child, he loved the novels written by that person and through them, learned the story of this world. But over time, he forgot about the second dream due to the surrounding wars. Every day, he saw families crying, and eventually, he forgot about it.

In the end, his first dream seemed impossible, and the second had lost some of its passion. Perhaps he might visit the world of gods he read about in the story. As for achieving the first dream in this world, he had little interest, perhaps just a slight curiosity. This was why he advised Beibei Dong to proceed with her plan.
