A/N :- Hello, readers! I've been tied up with some tasks and couldn't manage to publish the new chapter. However, to make up for it, I'll be releasing two additional chapters. Enjoy, and I wish you all a fantastic day!
.....
While the survivors deliberated about ascending the building, Lu Yu paid them no heed. Instead, he swiftly gathered a few of his team members.
"Boss, this new pet you've acquired seems quite impressive,
doesn't it?"
one of them commented.
"Enough with the nonsense, Wu Qiang, Shi Lei, you're coming with me to search for food," Lu Yu instructed, making it clear that the task at hand was to find sustenance.
Wu Qiang nodded in agreement, "Alright, boss!" Shi Lei, however, seemed taken aback,
"Boss, should I come too?"
"Yes, you must. Yan Yun, you're coming with me too," Lu Yu decided. After assembling his team, he escorted Yan Yun back and instructed Qiao Manli to return to her dormitory.
He then returned to the previous dormitory, located Wei Jianjun, and pulled him aside for a private conversation.
"Old Wei!
Come with me," Lu Yu beckoned.
"Lu Shao, what's the matter?"
Wei Jianjun queried.
"Old Wei, we may not have known each other for long, but I trust you!
Now, I have a question for you," Lu Yu stated.
"Young Master Lu, please ask!"
Wei Jianjun encouraged.
"What do you think we should do if we run out of food?"
Lu Yu posed his question, causing Wei Jianjun to freeze on the spot.
After a considerable pause, Wei Jianjun finally managed to utter a few words,
"How much food do we have left?"
"For Three days!"
Lu Yu held up three fingers, "If a few of us ration our meals, we might be able to stretch it to five days.
But if we all eat together, it would barely last for two meals."
"Considering the number of monsters outside, we might not be able to break out in three days, but perhaps we could manage in five days…"
"Lu Shao, what do you think we should do?"
Wei Jianjun asked.
Lu Yu responded with a smile and handed Wei Jianjun something,
"Help me with this!"
…
After parting ways with Wei Jianjun, Lu Yu led his team to the base of Qiao Manli's building.
"You guys wait here for two minutes, I'll go upstairs!"
he instructed.
"Okay, boss!"
the others responded without any objections.
Only Yan Yun seemed slightly uncomfortable, but she remained silent, merely watching Lu Yu's retreating figure with a dazed expression.
In reality, Lu Yu did nothing more than provide Qiao Manli's bedroom with some additional food and water during his visit upstairs.
The food and water were not in abundance, merely enough to last for about two days.
However, this would at least ensure that they wouldn't starve to death within a week.
Lu Yu's actions left several girls puzzled. Qiao Manli quickly reached out and grabbed Lu Yu's hand.
"Lu Shao, you… please don't go!"
she pleaded, her eyes filled with panic and desperation.
The other three women were not oblivious to the situation. They quickly approached Lu Yu.
"Lu Shao…"
"Master Lu!"
Lu Yu remained silent, merely glancing at the group before his gaze finally settled on Qiao Manli's face. He observed her carefully made-up face and a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.
He slowly extended his right hand and lifted her chin. Qiao Manli did not resist, instead, she looked at him with a pitiful expression.
"Do you really want to come with me?" he asked.
"Uh-huh!"
Qiao Manli hesitated for a moment before nodding cautiously.
At this point, nothing else mattered. Survival was the most important thing.
"If you want to come with me, stay here for a few days. If you can wait until I return, I will take you with me," he promised.
"Young Master… can't you take me now?" she asked.
"No!
There are too many of you, and I can't bear such a burden.
After saying this, Lu Yu left the girls' dormitory before anyone could react. By the time they did, Lu Yu was already far away.
Downstairs, seeing Lu Yu return so quickly, Yan Yun felt a surge of relief in her heart.
She even raised her hand happily and stroked Hei Shuai's ( Handsome Dog ) dog's head.
…
Could it be possible that Lu Yu's food supply is only sufficient for three to five days?
That seems highly unlikely.
Lu Yu is not the selfless hero of the story, but rather the antagonist.
Why wouldn't he ensure his own survival first?
He possesses a storage ring with a capacity of 10 cubic meters.
The exact dimensions of this ring space are known only to Lu Yu.
Therefore, Li Wanning and Shen Bin had no other option but to accept Lu Yu's claim of having no food.
Currently, apart from a few weapons and some quick-frozen fresh food, the majority of the storage is filled with food.
Even after accounting for the space occupied by the previous three mountaineering bags and the food given to Qiao Manli, there is still a significant amount of food left.
Not to mention the remaining food, it is enough to provide hearty meals for himself and his teammates for more than half a month.
He made these claims solely to execute his plan.
Although Chu Feng appears to be in a hopeless situation at the moment,
Lu Yu is aware that he has a long journey ahead.
Even if there are no other protagonists to contend with,
He might encounter other formidable individuals.
Therefore, Lu Yu was reluctant to bear the negative consequences of directly killing him.
Since Chu Feng is in a dire situation, why not wait for a couple more days?
It's all part of a strategic game,
A game of chess centered around human nature.
In this chessboard, apart from the few people he brought out and the few people who have lost their role,In this scenario, all individuals from Chu Feng and his four teammates are essentially seen as chess pieces in a game.
This includes Li Wanning, Shen Bin, Wei Jianjun, and all the other survivors residing in the dormitory buildings.
Under the orchestration of Lu Yu, Wei Jianjun underwent a transformation. He donned new attire, a cap, and a mask, blending into the crowd of survivors.
The combination of darkness, disguises, and the sheer number of people made it difficult for Chu Feng to keep track of everyone. Consequently, he failed to notice Wei Jianjun's arrival.
When the survivors reached Chu Feng's room, Shen Bin, one of the few adult males in the group, saw an opportunity to make an impression on Li Wanning. He took the initiative and led the survivors to negotiate with Chu Feng.
He pleaded, "Chu Feng, we're all classmates, can't you lend us a hand?"
Upon hearing Shen Bin's plea, Chu Feng's brows furrowed in contemplation. His ten years of survival experience in the post-apocalyptic world allowed him to quickly decipher Lu Yu's underlying intentions.
Was Lu Yu planning to use these survivors as a human shield?
This realization filled Chu Feng with a sense of indignation. He couldn't help but curse inwardly. So, Lu Yu had been saving these survivors for this very reason?
His plan was to have these desperate people approach Chu Feng for food first thing in the morning?
Motherfucker!
He cursed.
Chu Feng was left fuming with rage at the audacity of the situation.
Had this rogue, Lu Yu, played his cards right?
There are two kinds of strategies - a covert conspiracy and an overt strategy. A conspiracy is a hidden ploy that remains unseen, while an overt strategy is visible but impossible to counteract. Lu Yu's move was a covert conspiracy that Chu Feng found himself unable to counter.
Why was Chu Feng unable to counter it?
The reason lies in the gratitude that these classmates, now rescued by Lu Yu, felt towards him. If Chu Feng were to provide them with food, they would merely see it as his duty.
Their gratitude would still be directed towards Lu Yu, not Chu Feng.
And what happens after Chu Feng has given them food?
What will he eat?
Without sustenance, how will he be able to stand against Lu Yu?
How will he break the siege?
If he doesn't provide food, he will be seen as selfish, leading to an inevitable conflict with the group of survivors.
What if he tells these survivors that Lu Yu must have leftover food and directs them to him?
Who would these survivors believe?
Therefore, unless Chu Feng's current strength allows him to find other food sources in a short period, he has no way to break free from this predicament.
"Damn it, you've cornered me!"
Chu Feng exclaimed, feeling trapped and frustrated.
