Chereads / Villain: In Apocalypse / Chapter 61 - Chapter 60 :- Chu Feng's Military Brother

Chapter 61 - Chapter 60 :- Chu Feng's Military Brother

In a world teetering on the brink of apocalypse, Chu Feng is the central character faced with a critical decision.

The question at hand is whether he should share his food with others, thereby gambling on an uncertain future, or keep it for himself to ensure his survival.

With determination, he clenches his teeth and makes his choice. He confronts the others,

"If I give you my food, what will be left for us to eat?"

"Can you stand by and watch us starve to death?"

A boy ask him,

Chu Feng responds, "I'm sorry, but we need to save this food for our journey after we leave school.

We can't give it to you.

Please, go back."

"Hey, kid! You're too selfish!"

Shen Bin, acting as the antagonist, accuses Chu Feng of being selfish. The situation is further complicated by the fact that Lu Yu and his team have already departed.

The situation is dire. If Lu Yu fails to procure food, they won't be able to rely on Lu Yu for sustenance. The grim reality is that everyone could potentially starve to death.

Chu Feng, confronted with accusations of selfishness, retorts with a sneer,

"Selfishness, what of it?"

Chu Feng retorted with a smirk,

"Why should your death concern me?

We were like birds of the same feather, but when calamity strikes, each flies its own way."

"Can't you spare only some food for us?"

"Absolutely not!"

Chu Feng responded firmly, "Miss Li, I didn't inform you!"

"You're struggling to fend for yourself, yet you aspire to rescue others?

Isn't that somewhat ludicrous?"

Just a little bit?

Human greed knows no bounds. Give an inch, and they'll take a mile!

No one understood this better than Chu Feng.

"Chu Feng, what on earth are you saying?"

"Have you lost your humanity?"

"Master Lu and Teacher Li have saved countless lives. It's one thing for you not to assist, but to ridicule Teacher Li is unacceptable!"

"Indeed, Chu Feng, you've crossed the line!"

"And the food in your backpack, it's from the school cafeteria, isn't it?

Why should you monopolize it?"

"That's right, that's right! Let it be known, we all have a stake in what you consume!"

"Yes, we all have a stake!"

"Chu Feng, surrender the food promptly, or don't fault us for our discourtesy."

Upon hearing the commotion outside the door, Chu Feng scoffed.

"Oh?

You're threatening me?

Haha! Very well, I'm eager to see, how will you steal my food?"

"Let's do this, Wang Haobo, Cao Wei, break down the door."

Boom!

Boom!

Plakh!

With a thunderous crash, Chu Feng's bedroom door was subjected to a series of forceful kicks. Eventually, one of the boys managed to break it down.

In the instant the door swung open, Chu Feng swung his ax, landing a devastating blow on the shoulder of the boy at the forefront.

The boy's shoulder bones shattered, blood spraying wildly. Before he could even utter a scream, Chu Feng sent him flying with a swift kick.

"Step forward!"

Chu Feng challenged, brandishing his fire ax at the people who had just kicked down his door.

"I'm curious to see who among you dares to advance?"

A palpable tension hung in the air, underscoring the escalating conflict between Chu Feng and the survivors. The discord was far from trivial, but it was an inevitable outcome.

Lu Yu had managed to save a significant number of people this time, totaling around sixty to seventy individuals.

The three backpacks of food that Li Wanning and the others had previously brought were insufficient to feed everyone. Apart from a few girls in Qiao Manli's dormitory, the rest could only just manage to regain their strength.

Even though Lu Yu had shared some of his own food to avoid arousing suspicion, the survivors, who had previously been trapped in separate dorms, were now uniting in their quest for survival.

With their numbers bolstered, they were emboldened, despite the majority being unarmed girls.

Now that Lu Yu's food supplies had depleted, and they were too fearful to hunt monsters, they had no choice but to turn to Chu Feng.

If Chu Feng didn't have any food, they might have resorted to hunting monsters for sustenance, or in desperation, consuming the raw flesh of the monster corpses.

However, everyone was aware that Chu Feng had a substantial supply of food stashed away in five mountaineering bags.

The survivors are in a desperate struggle for survival, and the other group has a significant amount of food. It's inevitable that tensions would arise between the two factions.

Under Lu Yu's calculated orchestration, Chu Feng was forced to take drastic action, striking down one individual. Li Wanning attempted to intervene, but it was too late. Chu Feng's ax had already severed any chance of reconciliation.

Meanwhile,

In stark contrast to the volatile situation in the dormitory, the atmosphere among the other group was considerably more peaceful.

This group consisted of five individuals, accompanied by a dog and a monkey. They had relocated from Chu Feng's location under Lu Yu's guidance.

"Boss, it's getting late. Are we still going out to scavenge for food?"

Wu Qiang asked, casting a wary glance at the darkening sky. Under normal circumstances, this wouldn't be an issue. But venturing out in search of food for others in the dangerous darkness was a prospect he was reluctant to face.

"Scavenge for food?"

Lu Yu laughed incredulously. "You must be joking."

Wu Qiang and Shi Lei were taken aback.

"Lu Yu, didn't we set out to find food?"

Yan Yun, who had overheard Lu Yu's words, was equally confused.

"Do you have any idea how much food it would take to feed all those survivors?

Do you fancy yourself as some kind of savior?" Lu Yu retorted.

"But boss, what do you mean…" Wu Qiang began, only to be interrupted by Lu Yu.

"We're going to clean up the dormitory building up ahead. We'll rest there tonight and start clearing a path out of the school tomorrow."

"But… what about the others?" Wu Qiang asked hesitantly.

"What about them?"

Lu Yu countered. "Let me make this clear. The school's canteen has been cleared out by other survivors, and the cafeteria is occupied by other survivor groups.

We only have enough food left to last the five of us for three to five days. If any of you want to go back, I can give you your share of the food…"

His words sent shockwaves through the group.

They stared at Lu Yu in disbelief.

Only enough food for three to five days?

Did that mean they could potentially starve to death?

"Does anyone want to go back?" Lu Yu asked again, breaking the stunned silence.

"I'm with you, Young Master Lu," Xue Li declared, a smirk playing on his lips. He was the first to voice his allegiance.

In a state of panic, Shi Lei quickly dismissed the idea of returning, reasoning,

"If I can't even save myself, how can I possibly save others?" Wu Qiang, on the other hand, responded with an awkward smile, implying that there was no need for further discussion.

Yan Yun, however, expressed her determination to accompany them, biting her lip as she suggested,

"I'm definitely going with you, Lu Yu. But shouldn't we consider bringing Teacher Li and the others along?

They came with us, didn't they?"

Shi Lei supported her sentiment, adding, "Yes, and Brother Jun too!"

Lu Yu, preferring not to elaborate, simply stated, "They have their own responsibilities. You should focus on yours." He then fell silent, concentrating on directing Xiao Jin to eliminate the monsters.

Meanwhile,

A conflict was escalating elsewhere due to Chu Feng's aggressive actions towards his classmates. Chu Feng quickly became the subject of widespread criticism. Despite their outrage, the sight of the ax in Chu Feng's hand deterred anyone from confronting him directly.

Initially, they believed Chu Feng was only brave enough to kill monsters. However, they were taken aback by his ruthless behavior towards his peers.

Shen Bin, acting as Li Wanning's representative, was one of the few adults present.

Despite his reluctance, he felt compelled to address Chu Feng,

"Why are you so harsh on your classmates?

Can't you see the reason?"

Unfortunately, Chu Feng, being the protagonist, had no interest in engaging in a rational discussion.

"Reason?"

Chu Feng retorted with a scornful smile, "You're asking me for a reason now?

Let me tell you, the axe in my hand is the only reason you need." He found their attempts at reasoning laughable.

Taken aback, Shen Bin could only stutter,

"What? You want to fight me too?"

Chu Feng looked at him dismissively,

"Don't flatter yourself. Even if you had ten times your courage, you wouldn't stand a chance against me."

"You…you're despicable!" His face turned pale with anger.

Shen Bin, humiliated in front of Li Wanning, was seething with rage.

"Leave, or you'll end up like him," Chu Feng warned coldly, pointing at the injured student on the ground with his blood-stained ax.

After issuing this warning, Chu Feng cast a sidelong glance at Li Wanning in the crowd. He couldn't help but notice her attractiveness.

Li Wanning, a university professor, is a striking figure who stands out among her peers. She is approximately 168 cm tall.

Her appearance is remarkable, with delicate facial features and a cool demeanor that aligns perfectly with the aesthetic standards of Xia Guo's public.

Lu Yu, who holds her in high regard, would not hesitate to rate her a 95 out of 100.

Li Wanning is typically seen with her hair neatly tied up, sporting a pair of gold-rimmed glasses and a serious, often unsmiling expression. This gives her the air of a classic, aloof female teacher.

However, her physique is quite unique. While she may not have the perfect proportions of Yan Yun or the height and length of Qiao Manli, she possesses a distinctive feminine curvature.

When dressed in a tight outfit, her silhouette is reminiscent of a peach, a sight that can stir thoughts.

Upon first sight, Chu Feng was captivated by Li Wanning's allure. During the early stages of the apocalypse, a beauty like Li Wanning could be exploited by many, yet she could secure a three-month ration for a small team of five.

If fortunate, one might even acquire two valuable treasures. It's a misconception that beauties are abundant in the apocalypse. Prior to the end of the world, most of the top beauties were in the possession of the wealthy.

Post-apocalypse, only the strong could claim these beauties. Women like Yan Yun and Li Wanning, who are naturally beautiful without makeup and have a face value exceeding 90 points, are not within the reach of ordinary strong people.

Chu Feng, considering the potential threat posed by Lu Yu, was hesitant about claiming Li Wanning. Whether to satisfy his own desires or to ensure future survival,

Chu Feng felt that Li Wanning would be a valuable addition to his team.

However, the thought of Lu Yu made Chu Feng uneasy. He couldn't shake off the feeling that something was amiss. Although Lu Yu didn't directly confront him, Chu Feng knew that Lu Yu wasn't someone who would easily back down.

How did Lu Yu manage to persuade these survivors to form a team and steal his food?

Chu Feng was puzzled by Lu Yu's tactics, but he didn't have the luxury of time to ponder over it. His only option was to keep moving forward.

The survivors, led by Shen Bin, were forced to retreat by Chu Feng's ax. Li Wanning had no choice but to retreat downstairs with the others to discuss their next move. a man who had been hiding in the crowd quietly returned to his temporary lounge.

The next morning,

Chu Feng carefully surveyed the surroundings of the dormitory. Not seeing Lu Yu, he heaved a sigh of relief and began his attempt to clear the monsters downstairs.

The survivors downstairs were growing hungry and were at a loss about how to deal with Chu Feng.

Some of the boys wanted to seek refuge with him, while some girls were willing to sell themselves for food.

However, Chu Feng's team didn't accept anyone. They didn't even care about ordinary things. In Chu Feng's eyes, these average-looking girls with no strength were less important than a piece of bread.

On the Third day,

With Lu Yu still missing, Chu Feng prepared to lead the team away. More and more survivors wanted to seek refuge with him, but Chu Feng remained unmoved.

These people had conflicting interests with him and could easily stab him in the back once they joined.

So, Chu Feng ignored them. After clearing some monsters on the road, he returned to his residence, preparing to lead the team out of there completely the next morning.

On the dawn of the Fourth day,

The survivors were growing increasingly anxious.

"Didn't Lu Shao go out to gather food?

Why hasn't he returned yet?" one of them asked, voicing the concern that was on everyone's mind.

The fear of starvation was palpable among them. "If he doesn't return, we'll starve," another survivor added, the desperation evident in their voice.

The possibility of Lu Yu not returning was too terrifying to contemplate.

"Surely, Young Master Lu will return, right?" someone asked, seeking reassurance.

The group was quick to dismiss such a notion, insisting that it was impossible for Lu Yu not to return. They remembered how Lu Shao and his companions had bravely fought off the monsters.

However, one survivor pointed out that their main concern should not be Lu Yu's absence but rather the selfish actions of Chu Feng. This statement shifted the group's focus onto Chu Feng, who was hoarding food and refusing to share with the others.

The situation was becoming unbearable, and they knew they had to take action.

Lu Yu, who had also gone out to find food, had not returned either. Some survivors were beginning to suspect that he might never come back. However, most of them understood the risks that Lu Yu was facing outside.

The outside world was fraught with danger, and it was entirely possible that something could have happened to him.

Despite their concerns for Lu Yu, the survivors knew that their immediate problem was not his absence but Chu Feng's selfishness.

On this particular morning,

Their frustration reached a boiling point.

A group of men and women, managing to evade Li Wanning, ambushed Chu Feng at his residence.

In their minds, confronting Chu Feng seemed easier than battling the monsters. However, their hunger had weakened them, making them no match for Chu Feng. When they attempted to steal his food,

Chu Feng showed no mercy. With a swings of his ax, he killed them all, leaving a gruesome scene of blood and bodies.

"Did you think you could steal my food?"

Chu Feng asked, his eyes cold as he looked at the last survivor.

"No…no…they encouraged me, it's none of my business, Chu Feng…don't kill me…"

The survivor pleaded for mercy, blaming the others for instigating the theft.

But Chu Feng was unmoved.

"It's too late!

Go to hell!"

He declared, bringing down his ax. The survivor's blood splattered onto Chu Feng's face, marking the end of the confrontation.

The person died on the spot, and Chu Feng nonchalantly wiped the blood splattered on his face with his sleeve.

This scene was witnessed by Li Wanning, who was taken aback. Chu Feng's teammates and Shen Bin were also stunned. It was at this moment that Chu Feng noticed Li Wanning. With a smirk, he slowly walked towards Li Wanning.

"Miss Li?

Do you want to live?

If you want to live, just follow me…" he said.

"Stinky boy, what are you…" Shen Bin, who was standing beside Li Wanning, began to scold Chu Feng.

"Get lost!"

Chu Feng retorted, kicking Shen Bin away.

"A piece of trash, how dare you stand in my way?"

Shen Bin, who was already very hungry, was severely injured by Chu Feng's kick. His ribs on the right side of his chest were broken, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.

Chu Feng ignored him and only had eyes for Li Wanning.

Just as Chu Feng was about to further dismantle Li Wanning's mental fortifications, a man, sturdy as a steel tower, interposed himself between them.

"Young man!

"Lu Shao had previously warned me that you could pose a threat," a voice echoed, filled with suspicion.

"I didn't believe it then, but now I'm beginning to wonder… Are you truly the danger he spoke of?"

Chu Feng, unfazed by the accusation, retorted,

"Oh?

Is there another one ready to meet their end?"

His gaze fell upon a man standing before him, clad in long trousers, a cap, and a mask, concealing his identity.

Chu Feng squinted, scrutinizing the man.

You seem familiar. Where have we crossed paths?"

The man, Wei Jianjun, responded in a frosty tone,

"I'm not sure why Young Master Lu instructed me to don this attire, this hat, and this mask… but it seems unnecessary now."

Chu Feng's eyes widened in surprise as he recognized the man.

"You…you are… the military brother?"

Wei Jianjun bristled at the nickname.

"Who's your military brother?

Enough with your nonsense, prepare to die!"

With a roar of anger, he clenched his fist and lunged at Chu Feng.
