Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 Disordered Heart_1

"Grandpa, this is our marriage certificate."

Shirley Miller placed the two marriage certificates into Parker Miller's hands, and Parker Miller looked at them with a smile on his face, "Well, now that you've gotten your certificates, we need to pick a date for the wedding banquet..."

Shirley Miller replied with a laugh, "Grandpa, let's not have the wedding banquet for now, after all, this happened so suddenly. First, it's easy to draw criticism, and second, you have to give us some time to get to know each other and cultivate our feelings, right?"

Parker Miller blinked, his gaze landing on Carson Flores, "Carson, what do you think?"

Carson Flores said with a smile, "I agree with Mary's opinion. Besides, I have no idea where my master has gone; I don't even have an elder to attend my wedding."

Parker Miller thought it made sense, the certificates were already obtained, and having a banquet was just a formality, something done for the sake of appearances, not really that important.

"Okay, then let's not do it for now. We'll wait until the timing is right to discuss it again."

Shirley Miller breathed a sigh of relief and glanced at Carson Flores. This guy might be a scoundrel, but he was still quite cooperative with her.

Parker Miller set down the marriage certificates, "Carson, now that you've returned from military service, what are your future plans?"

Carson Flores casually brushed off the question, "I'll look for a job first."

Parker Miller laughed, "We have our own company at home, why would you need to go out and look for a job? Mary, arrange an executive position in the company for Carson..."

Shirley Miller's eyes widened, clearly resistant.

She was annoyed enough with him at home, and now the company too? That would be unbearable.

Besides, what if this guy said something out of line at the company, tarnishing her reputation?

She didn't want to openly object, so she could only signal to Carson Flores with her eyes, urging him to refuse on his own.

Carson Flores said with a smile, "Grandpa, before, I was just a soldier. I have absolutely no clue about company management. If you put me in an executive position, I'll just embarrass myself and become a target for criticism..."

Shirley Miller chimed in, "You're aware of the situation in the company, Grandpa. There are people actively looking for ways to trouble me. If I rashly place Carson in an executive role, they'll certainly use it as an opportunity to attack me."

Parker Miller furrowed his brows, "It's precisely because you're in a difficult position now, that I thought of having Carson help share the pressure. The company is so big; how can it accommodate a single person? Not all positions require specialized skills. Let's not talk about this anymore. It's settled!"

Carson Flores, feeling helpless, spread his hands towards Shirley, making an 'I tried my best' expression.

Shirley Miller was frustrated but couldn't oppose.

After dinner, with the personal intervention of the old master, Carson Flores moved into the master bedroom.

Once the old master left, the atmosphere in the room instantly became awkward.

Shirley Miller sat on the edge of the bed, her fists lightly clenched, her complexion somewhat unnatural.

She'd never been alone with a man like this before...

After a long silence, Carson Flores took the initiative, "The room is quite spacious; I can just sleep on the floor."

Shirley Miller didn't respond to Carson Flores; she got up, opened the wardrobe, took out a quilt, and made a bed on the floor, speaking indifferently, "You sleep on the bed; I'll sleep on the floor."

After Shirley Miller spoke, she immediately lay down on the makeshift bed, turning her body to leave Carson with a beautifully slender silhouette.

Carson Flores raised his eyebrows but wasn't pretentious, "Okay, then I'll take a shower... Can I use the master bathroom?"

Shirley Miller stayed silent a few seconds, then grunted in affirmation.

Carson Flores, holding his change of clothes, walked into the bathroom, then suddenly paused, his gaze somewhat peculiar.

In front of him, a black lace bra was casually hanging on the rack.

The design was very pretty.

Carson Flores cleared his throat twice, "Mary, your... clothes."

Shirley Miller lay on the makeshift bed, her feelings in turmoil.

The bedroom had always been her private space, and now a man had suddenly barged in, sleeping in her bed, using her bathroom, and might even use her bathtub...

Her train of thought was broken by Carson Flores' voice, and Shirley Miller suddenly remembered that she had taken a shower when she got home earlier and had instinctively hung her bra on the rack!

Shirley Miller's face flushed red in an instant, and she quickly got up, rushed into the bathroom, snatched her bra, and glared at Carson Flores standing at the door, her voice lacking conviction as she said, "Don't get any weird ideas!"

After hiding her bra, Shirley Miller lay down again, her cheeks burning hot.

By then, the sound of water was already cascading down in the bathroom, and although the noise was not loud through the door, in the silence of the room, it was crystal clear to Shirley Miller's ears.

Shirley Miller's thoughts began to drift involuntarily, imagining this guy taking a shower in her own bathroom, and because of the incident just now, he might be entertaining dirty thoughts or even doing something unspeakable...

Shirley Miller's heart was in disarray.

After finishing his shower, Carson Flores dried his hair, dressed in a T-shirt and shorts, and returned to the bed, glancing at Shirley Miller who was feigning sleep, unable to suppress a hint of amusement.

A normal woman would choose to sleep on the bed herself and have the man sleep on the floor, but she had unhesitatingly offered the bed to him.

This woman might seem cold and aloof, but she was reasonable and possessed a pride that was distinctly her own.

Her pride didn't stem from her being a beautiful woman, but from her sensible heart.

Carson Flores, whose hair was still not completely dry, leaned against the headboard and began playing with his phone. As he did so, Shirley Miller suddenly spoke from the floor in a faint voice, "Could you... not use the bathtub?"
