Kaito nodded and walked to the side of the rock. He jumped onto the top of the rock and began writing runes around the old, broken fan at its center.
His hands moved quickly, and he soon filled the top with symbols. Then, he jumped down and wrote more complex runes around the base of the rock.
After putting away the brush, Kaito rapidly formed hand seals.
Spiritual energy surged around him, making his hair and clothes flutter even though there was no wind.
The runes on the rock began to light up from the bottom, with blue light spreading upward rapidly.
When all the runes were illuminated, the broken fan began to tremble slightly.
With a "poof," a bright soul flame ignited above the fan.
The hidden yokai energy within the rock automatically emerged and was absorbed into the soul flame, making it burn even brighter.
The crows, having learned the truth about the resurrection plan from Mo, couldn't contain their excitement upon seeing the soul flame.
"Caw! Caw! Caw! Caw..."
Their harsh cries echoed through the cave, blending into a cacophony that made Kaito's head ache.
He quickly sealed off most of his hearing with spiritual power and exchanged a glance with Mo.
"Ahem, from now on, follow Kaito's instructions," Mo said, shrinking down into a small twig.
Kaito walked over, picked up the twig, and tucked it into his sleeve. The crows finally quieted down.
"Well then, you all stay here and guard Tengu's soul-nurturing formation," Kaito said with a smile. "It's time for me to leave."
"Lord Kaito," a crow flew up to him, flapping its wings, "we are willing to sign a contract with you and serve you."
"Lord Kaito, although our abilities are limited, these young ones are very smart and excel at gathering information," the old crow added. "Please accept them to serve you."
"Hmm..."
To be honest, Kaito didn't think much of them.
After a moment of thought, he nodded, "Do you have a summoning scroll? I can't sign a contract with chakra creatures, but my companions can."
He summoned Izuna and Chiri.
"Do you two need summoning beasts? I remember the clan's records mention illusion techniques that work with crows."
Izuna glanced at him, irritated, "Those techniques were developed by our descendants. I never practiced them."
Chiri also said, "I never practiced them either."
"It's not too late to learn now. Crows can not only assist in combat but also gather information," Kaito urged. "Moreover, these crows have yokai blood, much stronger than the wild crows our clan trains. Unfortunately, I can't use ninjutsu."
"Alright," Izuna agreed reluctantly.
Chiri nodded as well.
The crows had no objections either. These two were summoned by Lord Kaito, and working with them meant serving Lord Kaito.
After signing their names on the crows' empty summoning scroll, Izuna and Chiri returned to the possessed paper figures.
Kaito retrieved the paper figures and set up a protective formation around the soul-nurturing formation.
Leaving the secret place, Kaito bid farewell to the crows and reentered the earth vein.
...
Mount Ōeyama.
Upon receiving news from his clone, Mo immediately informed all the yokai leaders about Tengu.
In the castle keep, Spider Lady Kieji, who was guarding the formation, finally felt relieved after receiving the news.
Just now, Tengu's soul flame had suddenly gone out, which had scared her.
"Yūrei, your Kaito didn't notify us in advance," she said, glancing at Yūrei, who had come to visit her, and patting her chest. "I was scared to death just now."
Yūrei looked at her calmly and said softly, "Kaito already notified Lord Mo, so stop complaining."
"Hmph!" Kieji pointed her finger at Yūrei's forehead. "You always defend Kaito."
"I'm Kaito's girlfriend, of course, I defend him," Yūrei said righteously.
"Really." Kieji teased, "Why didn't you go with them? Then you could be together every day."
Yūrei said a bit sadly, "Kaito is handling important matters, and I can't be of much help."
"Yeah, even that idiot Gurē is better than you," Kieji laughed. "At least Gurē can be a means of transportation."
Yūrei immediately lowered her head, her whole demeanor dimming.
"Pfft." Kieji covered her mouth. "You're too sensitive."
"Hmph, I'm leaving!"
Yūrei glared at her, stood up, and turned into a swarm of butterflies that flew out of the hall.
Leaving the castle keep, Yūrei walked alone on the empty street.
Unable to fight directly, how could she be more helpful to Kaito?
Whether in the current preparation phase or the future battle with Kaguya, she seemed unable to play a significant role.
Since she wasn't good at fighting, she should make use of her strengths.
She made up her mind.
Tonight, she would explore the dream world, hoping to find some useful information.
If she could help Kaito, he would surely like her more!
Yūrei covered her cheeks with her hands, a slight smile appearing on her lips.
...
In the dojo, Sasuke was sweating profusely as he continuously swung his sword.
"You've completed 3000 basic swings. Take a break," Onikiri suddenly said from the side.
"Yes."
Sasuke sheathed his sword, wiping his sweat with the towel around his neck.
After a while, Onikiri spoke again, "You have your own fighting style. Besides the basics, you must improve through actual combat."
He drew the long sword at his waist.
"We'll start sparring now. Use any means you have."
"Understood."
Sasuke's eyes lit up as he drew his sword again.
"I'm coming, Onikiri-sensei."
He activated his Sharingan, his figure flickering as his blade traced a snowy arc through the air.
Clang!
Onikiri's long sword parried Sasuke's attack firmly.
Sasuke used the force to retreat, releasing the sword handle and quickly forming seals.
"Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique!"
He then reached down with his right hand, grabbing the sword handle again.
...
Konoha Training Ground.
Minato held his forehead with his hand.
Naruto squinted in confusion at his dad.
Minato felt like he had miscalculated. Naruto's fighting style was completely different from his own.
Both he and Kakashi specialized in defeating power with skill, whereas Naruto was a textbook example of defeating skill with power.
After several months of teaching, Naruto had only learned the Shadow Clone and Rasengan techniques.
Their fighting approaches were completely mismatched.
In that case, Jiraiya-sensei was indeed more suitable to teach Naruto.
Of course, that wasn't the main point.
"Dad! What are you talking about!" Naruto yelled. "I didn't understand a word you just said!"
Dear Kushina, it seems our son won't inherit our legacy. He can't understand either Flying Thunder God or sealing techniques, haha...
