Chapter 46 - Chapter 7: Found the Factory!

Seeing the light, Jia Yan, who had been wandering in the forest for two days, suddenly felt invigorated!

He flew over.

It was a small cluster of buildings.

It looked like it had been there for many years, with obvious traces of war still visible!

Bullet marks appeared on the surface of the buildings, pockmarked, proving how intense their past had been.

There were three buildings in total, all three-story structures, with lights shining through the windows at this moment.

Seeing these buildings, Jia Yan was stunned.

Suddenly, he realized that these three old buildings, scarred on the surface, might be remnants from the war decades ago.

It's worth noting that this border area had been occupied by several countries and powers successively. So, it wasn't surprising that there were buildings like these in such deep mountains and old forests.

But these buildings, which should have fallen into silence and eventually decayed in the deep mountains, were now lit up with lights, and faint sounds of machinery could still be heard.

"This must be the factory of the Northeastern Tigers! According to my judgment, it's exactly at the position of a circle on the map. It seems that the two killers, the bearded man and his accomplice, are indeed highly capable in intelligence gathering, able to locate even buildings in such remote mountainous forests."

Jia Yan flew towards the three buildings!

The closer he got, the clearer the sound of machinery became. This was indeed a factory!

Jia Yan saw that the three buildings were surrounded by walls, with many cameras aimed at both the inside and outside. It looked like the defense was very tight.

"There are three guard posts visible, and these cameras cover almost every angle. But in such a vast forest, there are so many insects like me, flying in front of a camera wouldn't surprise anyone!"

Jia Yan flew closer with confidence.

The three buildings didn't look as dilapidated as they appeared, at least they had undergone some repairs.

Jia Yan's compound eyes flickered. As he flew around the buildings' periphery, he could smell a very enticing aroma, reminiscent of the purple potion he had once tasted, only more intense, as if there were a huge quantity of it!

This was indeed the factory of the Northeastern Tigers!

Jia Yan's blood began to boil!

After searching for so long and enduring so much hardship, including several dangerous encounters, he finally found the factory of the Northeastern Tigers. And this factory, it seemed, really had the 'antibacterial peptide' potion he had tasted before. The effort was not in vain!

But now was not the time to be excited!

Jia Yan suppressed his emotions. Success hadn't been achieved yet. The key now was how to obtain the purple potion from the factory!

From the outside, except for the building that looked like an office, the other two buildings seemed sealed. It just so happened that these buildings originally looked like military structures. With some modifications, even mosquitoes would find it difficult to sneak in.

Let's gather some information first, Jia Yan decided, then flew into the enclosure!

Under the clear night sky, there was a vast forest area.

This area was close to the Changbai Mountains, with typical northern low mountain terrain, making the region home to numerous forests. While these forests didn't reach the density of southern jungles, the trees were tall enough to obscure the sky.

And the three buildings, existing for decades, stood tall in the forest!

What should have been a sparsely populated area was now filled with the roar of machinery, with workers bustling about the buildings.

Among these three buildings, one served as an office and dormitory. In the office at this moment, a tall and sturdy young man was furrowing his brows in thought!

In front of this young man stood another young man, similarly young but with a slender frame, wearing glasses on his nose.

"Boss, should we shut down the factory for half a month and send some people to eliminate those mutated bugs nearby first?" The young man in glasses tentatively asked.

"No!" The tall, sturdy young man decisively waved his hand, rejecting the proposal.

He rubbed his sore eyes due to staying up late and said helplessly, "You know, we are walking on a tightrope right now. The production of these potions must not stop. If it does, retaliation from all sides will come, considering our foundation is not strong enough, neither our connections nor our resources."

The man in glasses moved his mouth but ultimately said nothing.

"You didn't tell anyone about the death of that worker, did you?" the tall young man asked.

"No," the man in glasses replied. "After all, when he went out with us for treatment, he was just bitten by a mutated bug, seemingly normal. Those workers probably can't imagine that he died as soon as he went out. I also told them that he just took the opportunity to take a leave to visit his family, maybe won't be back for ten days or half a month."

"Very well, in these two weeks, I want you to double the production. Can you do it?"

"Double the production?" The man in glasses was surprised. "It's doable, but, the supply from that hole might not be enough..."

"Don't worry about that. That hole has existed for who knows how many years. Would our increased production suddenly make it inadequate? Increase the extraction intensity, and as long as you double the output in half a month, that's all! This is a matter of life and death for us, understand?!" The tall young man made a decisive decision without hesitation.

"Well... alright." The man in glasses agreed somewhat hesitantly.

At that moment, a dark mosquito quietly flew outside the window of the office in the night's darkness...

The mosquito observed the two people inside.

There was a glint of cunning in its compound eyes!

This mosquito was none other than Jia Yan. He looked at the two people still discussing in the office at midnight and immediately recognized them. The tall young man had given him a "chance" on the train, introducing him to the 'Northeastern Tigers'! And the man in glasses was the young man who later, along with one of the Northeastern Tigers' subordinates, mentioned 'factory' and other crucial keywords in the train aisle!

These two were, in a way, Jia Yan's benefactors.

Without them, Jia Yan would not have mutated, nor would he have been able to manipulate the keyboard and mouse as a mosquito. Then, the subsequent events of maneuvering and finally obtaining help from the two killers wouldn't have happened either.

So, overall, Jia Yan was very grateful to them.

But now, if they were going to hinder his next attempt at mutation, then sorry, since they couldn't possibly recognize him, Jia Yan had to treat them as enemies!

"Their conversation should be helpful to me, but I can't get in through this door and window at all. It seems that the so-called giant insects have made them very vigilant."

Jia Yan flew around the buildings and found that the doors and windows were either closed or covered with screens, leaving no gaps.

"What's that?"

Just as Jia Yan was about to continue searching without losing heart, he saw a creature resembling a cockroach crawling in a room.

But this 'cockroach' was too big, several times larger than a regular cockroach!

It was about thirteen or fourteen

 centimeters long!

Jia Yan was stunned, then he saw this mutated fellow come to the window of the room and start gnawing!

Upon closer inspection, it was indeed a mutated cockroach.

The gauze on the window couldn't resist the biting of this mutated cockroach at all, and a gap appeared immediately.

The mutated cockroach tentatively probed outside with its antennae, then crawled out of the window.

"Opportunity!" Jia Yan waited for the mutated cockroach to leave, then flew directly in through the damaged window!

He could tell that although these three buildings seemed well-defended, they were not at a professional level of defense. They were not in the same league as a laboratory, for example, like this cockroach; after mutating, it could chew through the gauze, a factor that hadn't been taken into account, indicating that this factory wasn't as terrifying as it seemed on the surface!

"This cockroach appeared from inside this building. It's possible that it didn't enter from the outside at all but has been living in this building, maybe even mutated here! So is it possible... that there might be purple potion in this office building too?"

Jia Yan felt a slight excitement. If he could avoid entering the two workshops that seemed to have tighter security, it would save him a lot of trouble and be much safer!

Using his antennae, he sensed the aroma in the air.

There were many scents that mosquitoes could discern, especially the scent of carbon dioxide and other miscellaneous biological scents. Of course, Jia Yan could also clearly sense scents that attracted him.

"The scent is very faint, but it's there!" Jia Yan flew lightly, following the scent of the purple potion.

Luckily, it was late at night, so even if some cameras captured Jia Yan blending into the darkness, the on-duty personnel probably wouldn't notice.

This building, which served as an office, part office, and part dormitory, Jia Yan flew while following the scent, then arrived at a room with lights on.

Outside this room, there was an iron door locked, but the inner room door wasn't closed.

Moreover, the room was still lit up, as if the owner had just stepped out for a moment.

The aroma of the potion was emanating from here!
