Chapter 67 - Vyaaghra

Rajeev and Ram stared in utter disbelief, their minds struggling to comprehend the scene unfolding before them. Just moments ago, the monstrous tiger had seemed the very embodiment of terror, its ferocious appearance sending chills down their spines. But now, that same beast, with its massive frame and piercing eyes, was nuzzling affectionately against Gowthami, as if they were the oldest of friends.

The tiger, which had so recently filled the cave with an air of imminent danger, now appeared gentle, even playful, in Gowthami's presence. With a powerful yet careful leap, the tiger pounced on her, wrapping its enormous paws around her in what could only be described as a bear hug. Gowthami laughed, her voice filled with joy as she wrapped her arms around the tiger's thick neck. "Vyaaghra, I missed you," she exclaimed, her tone warm and full of affection.

Rajeev and Ram were frozen in place, horrified and bewildered as they watched this incredible display of tenderness between human and beast. They had been convinced that the tiger was about to attack Gowthami, but instead, to their utter shock, it became clear that the two shared a deep, almost unbelievable bond.

Their minds raced to make sense of it all. How could this be? How could Gowthami, who had seemed just as frightened as they were minutes before, now be embracing the very creature that had them trembling with fear? The terror they had felt was slowly being replaced by a different emotion—a mixture of awe, confusion, and an uneasy sense of relief.

As the tiger purred softly, its enormous head resting on Gowthami's shoulder, Rajeev and Ram exchanged a glance, each trying to process what they were witnessing. It was as if they had stepped into another world, where the rules of nature had been rewritten, and in this world, Gowthami and the tiger, Vyaaghra, were kindred spirits, their bond defying every expectation.

The tension in the cave began to dissipate, replaced by an almost surreal calm. But the shock lingered, as Rajeev and Ram tried to reconcile the fierce predator they had feared with the gentle creature now resting peacefully in Gowthami's embrace.

Rajeev's mind raced, trying to make sense of what he was witnessing. He exchanged a bewildered glance with Ram, whose mouth hung open in astonishment. "What... how..." Rajeev stuttered, unable to find the words to express his confusion.

With a little worried voice, Rajeev said, "Gowthami, do you recognize this tiger before?" right away.

Gowthami, with a serene smile, gently stroked the tiger's fur. "Don't be afraid," she said softly, her voice filled with tenderness. "This is my pet tiger, vyaaghra. She's been with me since she was a cub."

Rajeev and Ram exchanged a shocked expression and stared at one another, wondering what the other had said. "Your pet?"

Ram wept silently inside, thinking, 'Ho God, what was wrong with this Rajeev? In the beginning, it seemed that he introduced this mysterious girl into our lives, but in addition to is she unfathomable, she also has a pet that is a wild animal—a tiger.'

Ram slowly regained his composure, though his eyes remained fixed on the unlikely pair before him. "Your... pet tiger?" he repeated incredulously. "But... how?"

Gowthami nodded, her gaze never leaving Shakti. "Yes, vyaaghra and I have a special bond. She's like family to me."

Rajeev, still processing the surreal scene unfolding before him, managed to find his voice. "I thought... we were in danger," he admitted, his tone a mixture of relief and lingering disbelief.

Gowthami looked at Rajeev with understanding. "I'm sorry for the scare," she said sincerely. "Vyaaghra is usually very shy around strangers. I didn't expect him to come find me here."

Vyaaghra nuzzled Gowthami affectionately, and she chuckled softly, a warm affection evident in her eyes. "She must have missed me," she mused, her fingers tracing patterns in vyaaghra's fur.

Ram shook his head in amazement, a smile breaking across his face. "Well, I've never seen anything like this before," he admitted, his initial fear giving way to fascination.

As Rajeev watched Gowthami and vyaaghra interact, a sense of wonder and admiration filled him. He realized he was witnessing a bond that transcended fear and instinct, a testament to Gowthami's compassion and the depth of her connection with the natural world.

Gowthami glanced up at Rajeev and Ram, her smile warm and reassuring. "Vyaaghra won't harm us," she assured them. "She's gentle and friendly."

Rajeev and Ram exchanged another look, their initial shock giving way to a newfound respect for Gowthami and her extraordinary bond with the tiger. As they settled into a sense of calm and safety in the cave, surrounded by the unusual but peaceful presence of vyaaghra, they knew they had witnessed something truly remarkable.

"Vyaaghra, these are my friends; they won't harm you, and they guarantee that you won't chase them ... okay" , Gowthami explained, tending to the tiger.

The tiger glanced at Rajeev and Ram. Ram and Rajeev recoiled a bit at the sight of the tiger; Ram was particularly terrified to see Gowthami and the tiger together.

Ram exclaimed with dread, "What will hurt that? I'm praying to God that this won't hurt us."

With a sidelong glance at Rajeev and Ram, Gowthami added, "Come on, it is not harmful to you guys. Let me introduce my Vyaaghra."

Gowthami and the tiger were kept ten feet apart from Ram and Rajeev.

Gowthami raised her hand in Rajeev's direction and urged him to approach her.

Rajeev smiled and took a step toward Gowthami, showing how much he trusted her.

But in terror, Ram took a few backward steps.

Tiger seemed to like Rajeev based on the way it stared at him and his grin.

The tiger didn't stop Rajeev from approaching and touching its gentle body; in fact, the animal seemed to enjoy his contact.

"Hello, Vyaaghra. My name is Rajeev", Rajeev said hello to the tiger.

Ram sobbed, "I don't prefer to dream more of this. Please help me wake up from this horrible dream."He shut his pupils a bit more tightly figuring that he was experiencing a dream and that he was attempting to rise up from it.

Tiger extended his front legs in Rajeev's direction, drew him in, and gave him a hug.

Rajeev stopped being afraid of the tiger and began to enjoy its companionship.

Tiger began to engage Rajeev in play. In a matter of seconds, they became closer to one another.

Gowthami enjoyed playing with Rajeev and the way Vyaaghra appreciated it.

Ram was in prayer to God when he barely opened his eyes to find Rajeev playing with and caressing a tiger. Ram was shocked by what he witnessed.
