Chapter 18 - Illegal Use of Gi

After Martial Arts Class, I go about my rest of the day the same as it usually does. Go back into homeroom and learn Physics from Mr. Park, Korean 11 from Ms. Kang, Social studies with Ms. Lim, Music from a very fun teacher named Mr. Jeong, and lastly Home Economics with Mr. Lim.

Most of the classes are entertaining, but I more prefer Mr. Jeong because music is so fun to learn. He's an older gentleman, in his late forties to early fifties. During his period, we learn how to use ours instruments and how to use them in harmony. One of the classes I look forward to the most.

The day ends with Mr. Lim saying, "You've all improved. I'm glad that those that weren't here for a few days were able to catch up." and with that said, we get to cleaning the classroom. After five maybe ten minutes, we get it all done.

With that out of the way, my classmates and I head towards the front to put our shoes on and get to whatever activity. I head to work as always. Walking through the doors, Mr. Lee looks up from his book, and then looks surprised.

He quickly gets over it and tells me, "You're at work earlier, were you excited to come here? You're shift don't start for another fifteen minutes, but you're welcome to take over now if you want."

"Strange, I walked the same pace as I always do. Sure, I'll take the extra ten minutes. Anything I should know before you go?"

He shakes his head, "No, no bad customers or the like. You'll do just fine."

"Alright, let me put the uniform on before you leave the counter."

That being said, I get the shop uniform on and get ready at the front desk. Mr. Lee leaves through the back entrance, leaving me alone in the store. Now that Mr. Lee brought it up and that I'm now alone, I start thinking about my body.

Looking at it and checking it out in the window, I lost like, ten pounds in the two weeks I've been here. Pretty sure that's not healthy but I seem no worse for wear. Maybe I'm getting my old body back. Or I'm actually exercising this one so it's removing the unnecessary fat.

Wait, how did this guy even get fat? I thought he barely made enough to keep him and his siblings fed and under a roof, how did he get enough to gain fat? He might actually just have a different body type, thinking about it more.

It's while I'm in these thoughts that two people walk in. I look up to greet them before realizing they're police officers, one male and one female. I think nothing much of it and say, "What can I do for you, officers?"

The male gives a side glance to the female officer before responding to me, "Jeong Choehabu Kirill, you're under arrest for the illegal use of Gi. You are to be escorted by us to the Police Headquarters of Saeloun-Seoul. You have the right to remain silent. Do not fight back."

I back up a step, involuntarily before asking, "Whwhau? What do you mean, illegal use of Gi? I don't even understand the concept, much less use it."

He shakes his head, "I would recommend you remain silent and complient."

He then pulls out a pair of black and metallic cuffs. "Please step out from behind the counter."

I stand still for a second before complying, going around the counter and putting my arms and hands out. The male officer puts them on me before leading me out, with the female officer tailing behind. They bring me outside and put me in the back of their police cruiser, with the male officer going shotgun and the female officer driving.

During this entire time, my mind is racing. What do they mean illegal use of Gi? Did I ever use Gi? How am I getting a warrant for my arrest when I don't even know what I did?

These thoughts go through my mind as we travel through the city. After five minutes of silence, I ask, "May I know your names and or id?"

The male officer glances at me through the rearview mirror before saying, "Officer Korinn of the Gi Task Force. My partner and superior is Officer Xi, also of the Gi Task Force."

Xi, that doesn't sound Korean, but I have seen foreign names here before. I ask Officer Xi for clarification, "Isn't Xi Chinese?"

Soon as the question leaves my lips does an oppressive pressure push down upon me. My breath gets trapped in my lungs, my blood feels like it starts to boil. As soon as that pressure is thrust down upon me does Officer Korinn tell his superior, "Stop. We're here to grab criminals, not kill them."

The pressure lasts for only five seconds more yet it feels like an eternity. I cough and hack a few times in the back, spitting out a small yet still frightening amount of blood. After a minute of trying to get my breath back, I ask Officer Korinn, "What... what was that?"

"That, was Gi from an expert. In the future, don't ask Officer Xi her origin."

I nod and shut up for the rest of the ride.

Cars and buildings and streets and everything in-between passes us by as we head towards the Police Headquarters. The buildings get higher and more pristine looking. The streets look cleaner and so do the people.

It's while I'm looking out the window that I see the largest building, dominating everything else. Rising fifteen stories into the sky with a perimeter probably exceeding fifteen hundred feet, stands the Say.. the Saeloo.. the Saleou... the Sae-loun Seoul Police Headquarters.

They drive up to the front entrance where three officers are already standing. Officer Korinn gets out first, before taking me out of the cruiser. I don't look behind me so I don't know what Officer Xi is doing, but it's probably putting the cruiser away.

I'm brought into the headquarters and am met with the cold architecture of Police. Half-walking, half-dragged, I move towards the information desk. The officer behind it looks at a computer screen before pressing a few keys and asking, "Is this Jeong Choehabu?"

Officer Korinn says "Yes." before getting told, "Bring him to room 116."

Officer Korinn complies and I get actively dragged this time to said room. I see different rooms and hallways, and even prisoners and convicts. All those sights get taken away when I'm thrust into room 116 by Officer Korinn.

He pats me down before giving a thumbs up to the rooms mirror while saying, "He's clean."

Oh God what did I do?
