Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The year has continued on its shitty way. From one problem to another, now I'm in debt after the hospital bills I had to pay last month.

I pulled myself up from my bed, holding unto my crutch. I moved towards the window opposite my bed.

The first rays of the morning hit me. The warm gaze of the sun was what I needed now. I then pulled myself from being engrossed with the sun.

'Won't ever get used to this.', I eyed the crutch supporting my left leg as I moved towards my desk.

Slumping down awkwardly onto my seat, I powered on the pc. Calculating the amount of work to be completed had become a routine by this point.

Lucky for me the company that gave me a job just before the 'accident', gave me a remote job instead. Though I had to take pay cut.

The day continued as planned. I brushed my teeth, made coffee, and got to work.

~~~
*DING**DONG*
The doorbell rang, pulling me away from my work, as I glanced at the time. I went towards the wardrobe as the doorbell kept getting rung.
I pulled out an envelope and went past the living room towards the door.
"Hoi, bastard! Move quickly next time!", a blonde, slim, and the taller of the two men, spat at me as soon as I opened the door.
"You brought it?". his dark-skinned partner spoke up.
I handed them the envelope I had clutched under my right armpit. He took the envelope off me, immediately taking out its contents.
"This isn't enough."
"Yeah, I had to pay the rent and some utilities, I'll make it back for next month."
"*KTT*", the blonde man, snorted as he heard my words, "Bastard's trying to trick us, ain't that what you said last month?"
"Leave it. Next month." With a wave at his blonde partner, he chucked the money in his pockets as he spoke.
A swift kick came my way. I dropped to the floor a few feet away from my crotch. Clutching my stomach at the assault.
"Hahahaha, better have our money next month, biiiiitch, hahahaha."
I could only crawl towards the door, closing it as they drove away. I couldn't even curse them now, I was tired of it.
My leg has been this way for over a year now. And those guys have been disturbing for the same amount of time.
I crawled towards my crutch, picking myself up and heading to my room.
I glanced at the stairs that led to my parents and my normal room. I chose to stay down due to how troublesome it was to use the stairs.
My gaze returned back to my mission, slumping back onto my seat as soon as I entered the room.
*DING**DING*
"Ahh, who the fuck it is this time?!"
Returning my gaze towards my crutch, I began a new journey towards the door. The ringing still going.
"Ahhhhhh!"
Falling unto my backside, I pulled my crutch close to me, as I tried to swat at the creature in front of me.
But my crutch passed through it like it didn't even exist in the first place. It began to move towards me. That's when I realized, the doorbell wasn't ringing anymore.
Its eyes began to brighten up as it displayed a screen.
[Hello master. My name is Independent Artificial System or IAS for short.]
'Sounds stupid.'
[My name isn't stupid, master.]
"You can read my mind?!"
[Yes. And to continue, I am here to gift you your very own access to becoming a legend.]
My ears pricked at the statement, this eye could be a scammer. "And how will you do that?"
[Healing your leg would be a start, but don't rely on this. It's a one-time only event.]
I glanced at the eye's screen and my leg a few times, before squinting slightly.
"You sure you can do this?"
[Yes. Would you like me to start?]
"Start."
Worst decision ever.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
The scream of pain. One that I hoped to not be repeated. The agonizing torture of bone ripping form the skin to fix itself.
The bone and skin fixing themselves as time went by. Each piece fitting into the bone structure perfectly.
But at this point in time, I had passed out from both the sight and pain I felt. It was far worse than when they broke my leg.
~~~

I couldn't tell how much time had passed, the blinds didn't let any light in. And the clock on the wall had stopped working for a while now.

I glanced at my leg, a bit of dried blood all over the skin. And then I tried to move it.

"It moved, IT MOVED.", I screamed, the excitement taking over my senses.

I locked eyes with the eye, "You really did it, THANK YOU."

[I told you I would.]

But standing was much more difficult than I had imagined. A year without using it had made me forget how it felt to walk on both legs at once.

But it still couldn't dampen my happiness.

[Master, this is just the beginning. I still have to tell you the functions of the system.]

I kept sitting on the ground as I faced the eye, "Okay, I'm all ears."

[Well there two major functions of the system. The first will be the Physique function. This puts your overall physique into three categories, strength, stamina, and agility.]

[Each of these can be upgraded by using Physique Points. Physique Points can be gained by completing missions.]

[Missions are given randomly by the system. Once a mission is given it comes with a reward, no punishment. My creator deemed it unnecessary to add one has the rates of death has been high.]

[Because missions do not contain penalties or punishments, getting one is harder. So use your Physique Points well.]

[The other main function is a 1000x bonus. This is a function that gives master a 1000x bonus on all income, whether directly or indirectly.]

[Those are the functions of the system, pretty great right?]
