Amara quickly fought her way out of this trap set up by the church and the demon. But as she killed that powerful demon, he cursed her with powerful dark magic. Not to be confused with Ruby's shadow magic.
They are two very different kinds of magic. Amara's magic is simply evil magic that she took from the demon as he tried to curse her. But the price of gaining control of this dark magic was the almost complete destruction of her own body.
