Chereads / Stray Dog / Chapter 2 - Terror of Terras.

Chapter 2 - Terror of Terras.

It was the next morning when Luis found the breathing female body that he now take care of.

From time to time, Luis checked the body's temperature. It still is cold, but at least it's starting to warm up.

Luis went out to hunt for food, but he couldn't afford to leave the woman behind. So he decided to risk it and covered her face with monster blood, that way monsters won't mind her existence.

Luis learned this at a young age, continuously battling monsters. He can be considered an expert.

As Luis set out he had an objective in mind, to capture as many 'Terras' as he can.

Terras are mutated chickens that now have sharp teeth, sharp claws, and can grow up to 2'1 in feet, in height.

Luis went out and searched for Terras, since they are the easiest to capture, and the easiest to fight against.

Luis kept in mind that, the girl needed him alive and kicking. He then dawned his trusted spear and wood covering to hunt.

Luis searched left and right, up and down, searching all possible hiding spots near their area. But somehow, he couldn't find any Terras.

He was starting to lose hope. Until he decided to risk it all and headed out much farther.

He was scared.

'What if I don't come back alive?', 'What if I got knocked out and I couldn't get back?', 'What if I get lost?', 'Will the female love me?'.

Luis stopped after he unexpectedly thought of that last one. 'Do I love the girl?', he asked himself.

He thought of that, while he walked thinking and walking at the same time.

Suddenly, when he was considerably far from base, about 3 meters away. It was getting colder since it's the blossom of October.

He was feeling the cold, even the padded jackets didn't help much, his hands were being numbed by the minute.

And then, with a shock a Terra attacked him from behind. He wasn't properly defended.

For him, it felt unfair. But who was he to judge the world? It's rules are kill or be killed, and today is just an example of that.

He was bit in the back, and he felt considerable pain.

Then, many Terras ganged up on him, 5 to be exact. This was a predicament you don't wanna be in, Terras are monsters he considered weak. But with a 'Terror of Terras' it was a nightmare.

Luis, quivered in fear as he feared he would die there. 'Why am I afraid!?' 'Why now!?'.

He questioned everything and his life was flashing before his eyes.

He remembered his mom, his dad, his loving sister, and finally he remembered the girl that he saved the other day.

As he thought of that, his fear became an obstacle. His reason for fearing, became his reason for fighting.

"Me. Can't not-lose me!" Luis shouted at the top of his lungs like no tomorrow. He was not gonna lose now.

The Terras attacked in all corners, the top, the right, the left, and from behind. He was cornered, but his determination never wavered.

He guarded with his wooden shield and broke immediately, his spear however was much more sturdy.

He speared through the first Terra, killing it with ease. The last four though was a little hard to deal with.

They were agile and slippery, and after they evade they attack at a weak spot. Luis was hurt in his calf, right torso, and his gut as well.

Even with so much blood he's losing, he always got back up. He then speared another Terra in which it died immediately.

With that kill, he became more motivated to keep fighting and caught another Terra's life. It was enough for 3 days worth of food. But he was not gonna forgive these Terra's for attempting to take his life.

"Terra! You. Will. Dead. You. Try. Take. Pretty. Woman. Savior. Life." He claimed in anger.

He was ready to give those Terra a beating of a lifetime. With that the three remaining Terra's a little easier than last time.

Even with the Terra's running and attacking, Luis persisted and continued to slaughter the Terra's.

At the end, Luis was standing victorious. He was standing there bleeding so much. He bled too much that he fainted and fell down.

....

At the top of a mall...

"Look! Honey! Someone's fighting 5 Terra's" Henry uttered confused why a young looking man fighting a class 4 monster.

"That's weird, I never seen someone fight one of them, let alone 5!" His wife Helena answered.

"He's seemingly holding his own" Henry observed. "Should we help him?" Helena asked with consern over the guy that is fighting 5 Terra's.

"No need, he's oddly determined to win, that young man's eyes are the eyes of a winner." Henry concluded.

As the couple watched the fight, helpless since they couldn't really help Luis. They watched on until the end of the fight.

Were they shocked? Absolutely. It was not unheard of for monster hunters to slay a Terror of Terras, but that's just that, monster hunters from their knowledge this young man wasn't a registered monster hunter.

"He's amazing!" Exclaimed Henry, "I can't wait to study how he did that!" He further exclaimed as he watched the fight go on.

"Now, now my love" his wife interrupted him, "we as doctors must be concerned for his health first". "Good point." Henry responded.

As they watched the fight finish and Luis is lying on the ground, they immediately went over to him to tend his wound.

"He fainted" Henry uttered in worry, "It's not too late" Helena his wife said in a worried but hopeful voice.

As they performed first aid to him, Henry reached out his hands and a glowing mystical green color illuminated from his hands.

"This will do for now" Henry uttered in a worried voice. "Let's take him to a clinic" Helena suggested.

As the couple agreed to that suggestion, they both but him to something where he can lay down to and carried him to the nearest clinic.

....

Back at Luis's base.

The frozen body of the woman: husky breathing
