Chereads / A Luna For The Hybrid / Chapter 7 - Teach me!

Chapter 7 - Teach me!

Ava's POV

Weak! I was just too weak and I should have known better. Why would Jared ever choose me as his Luna? What can an omega like me possibly offer him, other than being a liability? I can't even shift into my wolf form or properly communicate with her.

Freya on the other hand, was just the perfect choice. She's strong, stunning and has alpha blood flowing in her veins. Together, they'll make the perfect offsprings, who will take over from Jared in the future. Although Freya had told me how uninterested the both of them were, concerning that. It made me a little... relieved? I don't know.

It's been over two weeks since the defeat of Alpha Damian and coming into power of Jared. Two weeks of him running around, carrying out Alpha duties and forgetting that I exist. Two weeks of another female, being his Luna.

Freya has had to fight off two female wolves, who challenged her for the Luna title and she made it look so easy. At a point, I started to realize that if I was picked by Jared as Luna, I would have probably been murdered by now and that was probably a good excuse as to why Freya is occupying that position instead. However, it didn't make me hurt any less.

I was currently in a deserted portion of the woods, clad in a sports bra and joggers, two silver daggers in my hands, as I panted heavily. I may not be able to shift but I wasn't going to let others keep thinking of me as some kind of runt. If I don't have claws and fangs like them, then I better get used to silver blades like these.

I kept swinging the weapons around, practicing the different strokes that came to my mind. As omegas, we were never allowed to train with the other werewolves, so this was still new to me. I still couldn't go train with the others because of the unwanted attention I know I'd get. I just had to make do with what I had here with me, nature.

The chilly wind blowing on my skin, suddenly had a different feel to it and I immediately knew that someone was watching me. I already knew how to throw daggers, so I just turned around without even looking, sending the blade in the direction of whoever the stranger was.

Freya casually flicked the dagger away with her fingers, making my eyes widen.

"Are you trying to kill me, little bird?" She smirked at me.

"Didn't know it was you." I said, bowing my head in submission to her, even though she had warned me a couple times, not to do so. I just couldn't help it.

She was suddenly in front of me, grabbing my chin and tilting up my face to look into her eyes.

"Being an alpha female from the Iron Wolf pack, one would think that no female could possibly challenge me for any title." She said to me.

"But they did...and you won both." I replied her, earning a dry chuckle.

"As funny as it may sound, they underestimated me. They looked at me and felt like I should be weaker because I have only one good eye."

"They felt like that would give them some kind of advantage over me... until it didn't." Freya said, earning a frown from me. What was she driving at?

"You're an omega, a runt and weakling of the pack. Own it."

"They're going to look down on you but that's your biggest advantage." She said to me, making my eyebrows furrow in deep thought. I was still confused as to how I could achieve such. I couldn't never do it by myself... unless..

"Teach me, please." I said, falling down on my knees. I could feel my wolf snarling in disdain in my head, as I knelt before someone she considered our enemy. I didn't mind her.

"Careful what you ask for, little bird. I can be quite... unhinged."  Freya smirked down at me, flashing her pointy canines.

I've seen her fight. I've seen how deadly she is in the fighting pit. Her strikes are always well aimed and precise, bringing down her opponent in a matter of minutes. Don't even get me started on her wolf form. She was fucking feral and I wanted so much for her to teach me. To teach me how to be that fearsome and dangerous. My mate happens to be a dangerous, hybrid Alpha, so it was only befitting that I live up to expectation. Fuck this omega life!

"Teach me to be much stronger. I know I might never be able to shift. I might never be as strong as you but I just want to be stronger. Strong enough to..." I was saying before she completed my statement.

"..take your Luna position?" She smirked down at me, as I slowly looked up.

"Oh I'll teach you, little bird!"

"I'll teach you how to fly."

Jared's POV

"Alpha Jared!" Two warriors chorused, baring their necks in submission, as I walked past them. I just grunted in response.

From how tense most of them were, I could tell they feared me more than they respected me...which was understandable. Honestly, I don't even think I was out here to beg for their respects, so I couldn't care less. As Alpha, I had more pressing issues.

Winter was fast coming upon us in the Silver Claw pack and we needed to be ready. Unlike humans, werewolves are less prone to suffering from cold, however we had to make sure there's enough food to last us the whole season. I had to see to that and the process has been really exhausting because the werewolves were already used to letting only omegas do the hard work. I've decided to change that. Under my rule, no one will be treated poorly because of their rank.

Preparations were ongoing for the customary visit of the three northern alphas. They would decide if they accept me as one of them or not. I already knew that I had Alpha Magnus's support, afterall he's Freya's brother. Right now, I was a little worried about the other two alphas.

I let out a sigh, as I looked up to the crescent moon in the sky. I finally did it. I finally took the alpha position from my father, thereby avenging Beta Jamie. I hope he's resting well, wherever he is.

A familiar, sweet, scent suddenly hit me, making a rumbling sound echo from my chest. I knew who the scent belonged to, before I even saw her.

"Mate!" My beast growled inside my mind, rolling around in a frenzy. I closed my eyes, effectively shoving him down to the back of my mind.

"Alpha Jared? You sent for me." Ava's soft voice called out, albeit timidly. I was currently standing alone in front of a small pond and I turned around to regard her.

"I did." I simply replied, making her look up at me.

"How was your training today?" I asked, watching her eyes widen in surprise. She really thought I wouldn't know?

"Um...intense." She replied, casting her gaze downwards. I let out a low, warning growl of displeasure.

"Look at me!" I snapped, making her look up immediately.

"Until you are ready, keep it a secret, even from Emily." I said to her, making her nod wordlessly. I couldn't have the pack knowing who my real mate was, just yet. It would be too dangerous for her.

I turned back to continue staring at the pond. This very spot was where Ava first approached me, when we were younger. I had no friends, so I was always sitting by myself here, talking to any fish that swam by. On this very spot, she walked up to me and introduced herself. Instead of the normal snarls and hateful glares I usually got, she smiled at me.

"Can... can I go now?" She stuttered from behind me, bringing back my attention to the present.

"Aren't you curious?" I suddenly asked.

"Curious as to how I'm not dead?" I said, turning to face her with a small smile this time.

I slowly walked over to a large boulder by the pond, sitting on it and patting a space beside me, for her to do the same. She looked a bit hesitant at first but decided to still sit with me.

"It just happened one day in the Iron Wolf pack. Myself, Freya and Magnus were out hunting in the woods." I began to narrate to her, watching her perk up in interest. She seemed a bit surprised that I was even talking to her and I guess I couldn't really blame her for that.

"Their territory happened to be quite mountainous and they were so adapted to it. Me? Not so much."

"I was running after a deer and was so carried away that it happened so fast. I missed my steps, instantly falling off a cliff, hundreds of meters tall." I said, watching her lips part and listening to her heartbeat steadily increase.

"You fell to your death." She whispered, making me chuckle.

"Everything went totally dark before I even hit the rocky ground below. It was like I had died but somehow, I woke up to the sight of Freya and Magnus hovering over me, worried and shocked expressions on their faces. They told me all that happened."

"You know what was more shocking?" I asked, not looking at her.

"What?" She asked.

"I didn't have a single scratch on me. No broken bones, ribs or even bleeding. I was all healed up."

"I spent the next few months trying all I could to kill myself. Silver, wolfsbane, fire, burning wood and all. None had any effect on me. I became even stronger with every attempt. I became...a monster." I said.

"I heard vampires could only be killed by torching and I decided to try it, since I'm part vampire."

"Didn't work." She said to me.

"Of course it didn't, so Freya encouraged me to embrace the monster I've become and use it to my advantage." I told her, a nostalgic smile on my face.

"Yeah... sounds like Freya." Ava said, looking away with a frown. I could tell that alot was going on in her mind.

After a long while of sitting together in silence, Ava spoke up again.

"Just so you know, I don't think you're a monster."
