Chapter 9 - Search [1]

It was dawn, the sun was coming out of the horizon. The light was spreading out, chasing away every shadow of the night.

There was a heavy knocking on the door, Leon's hands were folded, and legs were straight, resting on the floor. Soon enough, Darlos got up and opened the door when the person on the opposite side said.

"Open it before I break it." It was Fezares.

Darlos murmured under his breath, displeased, "This woman has nothing else to do but bother other people."

When the door was pushed open, Fezares grabbed Darlos by his scruffy collar. Her enraged voice spread throughout the room.

"It's work time, and your morons haven't been outside. This time, I won't be saving your asses."

Leon could sense the intense aura leaking out from Darlos when he was grabbed, he was intentionally doing it. Trying to scare of the woman a bit.

When Fezares sensed the strange energy radiating from Darlos, she released him as her hand slid down to her daggered wreathed in a sheath which shone in diamonds.

Leon paid no attention to it.

"What was that?" she asked, a little bewildered. When she tried to sense the strange energy again, she could no longer sense it.

"What do you mean?" asked Darlos, cluelessly looking around.

Even if Fezares were to suspect Darlos, Leon was aware it would be a daunting task to expose the truth. Regardless, she wouldn't find it in the first place.

"Never mind, you both come outside, there are many items strewn on the ground you have to finish your work first."

When she finished talking, Leon coughed loudly as blood spewed out of my mouth and fell to the ground. Leon continued coughing, and more blood burst out of my mouth.

Fezares and Darlos came rushed towards him, the woman was just a little concern probably because she didn't want to lose a free worker. While Darlos smirking so slightly.

'Impressive for a man to do that.' Darlos praised.

'Not the time to compliment.'

"Larmin(Leon) are you alright. There's a lot of blood coming out of your mouth, we must take you for treatment." Darlos sporting a worried expression, said. He was holding Leon's hands as if he was dying.

"I will be fine," Leon's voice was hoarse as he spoke, assuring of them my condition.

Darlos glanced at Fezares, opening his mouth to request, "Can we let him rest, his condition seems to be nowhere good."

Fezares was exasperated, except for permitting it, she couldn't do anything else or she could.

"We can take him to a healer," she suggested, her option.

"I can't pay the money, they are expensive." Darlos argued.

In response, Fezares said, "It will be free, now get ready for work and you." She shot a glare at Leon, trying to examine his body from all ends.

Her expression turned strange as if she found something interesting. Leon didn't know about it, what possibly could have made her face look mysterious?

"You look like that boy… Leon Ackerman…" when she realized what she had done, subconsciously her hand covered her mouth.

Her expression turned ire and rudely annoying commanded started again, "You have only two minutes, carrier. Come out or I will cut off your tongue in the public, and you rest, a healer will come at around one hour."

Leon couldn't say anything except only gaze at them silently. When they left, he got up on his feet, treading towards the bed.

With each step, there was a creaky sound of the wooden floor. At some point, they couldn't hold his weight to which he had to make himself as light as a feather.

It was annoying.

He sat on the bed, taking a quick glance at everything around him. At the moment, about 12 soldiers were observing him from inside the room, completely invisible. Most of them were on Erlen's level.

Only one hour, within that time frame Leon had to steal the holy scent. This thing may not sound special, but it could be used for two things at most.

One was to contact the higher up, the scent was necessary for anyone to do that and the second was to let any wick energy be consumed by it. Even if it was a demon king, he would be safe from any holy power if he used it.

Always put it to a good use.

Leon coughed once more and lain to the bed, closing his eyes. By now, the knight might have believed he was in a slumber.

The sun had risen enough for its light to pierce through the window and enter the room, illuminating the gloomy room.

Leon's shadow that had been in a deep slumber finally roused. It swiftly crawled from one place to another, the knight even though invisible couldn't track it.

It hadn't been ten seconds; the floor was soaked in blood. All twelve of them were eliminated.

Leon could have done it even faster, but the pain is what they should feel. They had not died within five seconds, for them time had slowed down.

His shadow peeled off their skin and let the pain pound and as their body throbbed with agony that had become unbearable. Their eye sockets were plucked out. Gradually, their bones were broken. Their hearts were slow down for them to live for about another thirty minutes.

They couldn't scream and they couldn't seek help. This was for what they had done to his father, if it weren't for his memory absorption ability, maybe It wouldn't have been that painful for them.

Memory absorption was an ability that allowed Leon to take away anyone's memory when they are killed. Although, the side effect was the enormous amount of emotion, tormenting him.

Those emotions were inevitable, when Leon faced it there was nothing, he could do regardless of how strong he was, Leon couldn't help but wanted to escape.

In the end, he gave in.

His strength had tripled after absorbing the black energy. There was addition of several more abilities. What troubled him was the fact that he still couldn't be himself.

There was a cavity in his heart. Leon's body felt numb, even how much physical pain he receives, he couldn't feel it.

What mattered the most was getting strong enough to reach a life where everything will be according to his way.

But that strength, I had to search for it… I can't let my father die again.

Leon got up from my bed, the shadow had completely wiped up the blood like it wasn't there in the first place. The bodies were devoured, what were left were invisible shadows, about twelve of them. they have taken their places.

Only a little holy energy I had shared with them. Their presence will let Fezares believe they are the knights, keeping Leon in check.

"Should I ask Darlos about the condition?" He said, calling Darlos, 'What do you think?'

Leon could tell Darlos was pulling heavy blocks. His voice filled with sore, inwardly.

'Just like you said, most of them are no more than monsters. They have incredible force; no citizen seems to be normal.'

It was nothing surprising.

'I will be heading out,' Leon said.

'Don't die, you foolish human.'

'Yeah, sure.'

He got up and turned towards the bed. A small amount of energy leaked out of him, making his own clone. It was a perfect copy with little energy.

It lay in my stead while Leon walked out of the room. As he stood in front of the shabby house, Leon turned his head in several directions.

People were walking carefree of their surroundings, mostly there were slaves in tattered clothes. Their condition was nowhere seeming to be like human, like rats they were to these people.

A distinctive belt was swathed around their necks, they were gleaming in different colors. Each belt had its own different value, the higher a color the more control one had over the slave.

Through this, the contemptible owners of the slave could boast in such fashion. Leon clenched his fist tightly when watching the seen, his eyes giving them a fierce glare.

He strides in the north, passing many houses both enormous and small. He began to count their numbers.

Going directly inside the palace could bring greater risk, alerting the enemies of his presence, if it were a few ants to deal with which he could have but their mammoth number is not something he can handle alone.

Leon came to a halt, he whirled as he looked at the three cross and in the center was image of an angle and a man fighting the devil hanging on the gable of the house.

Gargoyles surrounded the front door, from their mouths came out crimson liquid. And that blood was being absorbed by the ground like it was a living being.

Leon tread past the walls, what was about him on both sides was greenery and a cartload of eyes watching him through the grass that were dancing in the windless place.

The heads of the two crows were embedded in the door, when he reached close, his hand stretched as they grabbed the doorknob fashioned like a dog's head.

Don't think this is some special house, this is just a normal structure just like every other. There were many more like this.

The only thing that made it different were the eyes that from peeking from the grass.

Leon's grip on the doorknob tightened, there was the sound of it cracking, as it did, it started to extract his energy. Leon let it take his pure and holy energy and restrained his black energy from flowing out with it.

The door opened with a creaking sound.

As He trampled his foot on the ground, the candles placed on the chandelier lit up, so did the whole hall, revealing its majestic beauty.

But Leon's focus remained at the end of the stairs that were right front of him, where a man was standing and behind him was a clock rotating like that of a mandala.

"Weren't those with truthful hearts allowed to enter this place, how strange even a frail creature can now walk in." Said Heltin Time.

Leon frowned when he stared at the man, his face was nothing more then a disgust to him. However, Leon didn't reveal his original self because there were more enemies that had to unveil their appearance.

When they did, they were already standing beside him. A mount that was completely black with dots moving within his skin. A sky with stars on it.

And on the right side was a muscular man, fours hands attached to his body. His grin was mischievous, and his slit pupils were looking at Leon.

"I think this creature is very similar to him, that boy, what was his name again?" said Gargil, the four arms.

This was Leon's second time hearing about it, now He was curious, from when did the Holy palace knew he would awake as a great potential?

Something doesn't seem right; I need to finish this off quickly and get the holy scent.

"F**king rots, come at me at once." Angrily, Leon said.
