Chapter 15 - Completing the Circuit

Out of curiosity, he waited five minutes. No one showed up. He decided to take a piss and five minutes later, someone finally entered. He only waited to test the theories he saw on tv. Figured they had to be true to some extent. Either it was a coincidence or there was some hard science supporting it. Score one for directors. They weren't totally making this stuff up.

A skinny kid came in when he expected a buff one. A boy obviously since he was in the men's room. A buff kid would not be as scared but given the nature of what happened, maybe peer pressure gave way to the skinny kid instead. The kid had freckles and was trembling from head to toe. Freckles looked around and acted like he wasn't there, or maybe freckles expected a monster. The kid didn't open up any bathroom stalls, touch the walls, or turn on the sink. Just kept looking at the same areas over and over.

"H-Hello?"

Freckles stumbled away after saying it as though afraid the monster would appear immediately. The kid came in confidently but was struggling to turn the handle on the way out. Slipped a few times even though there was no puddle.

He couldn't leave when he entered before the commotion. People would associate him with the arsonist. In fact, leaving unharmed would mean he had something to do with the explosion because he would know the safe spots. There needed to be an explosion, he needed to be injured, and he had to be pushed out at the same time. But he didn't have anytime to do that. He ran in here at a whim. He ran in here because he had a problem to deal with and now it was deal but he needed another problem so he could claim innocence about the initial problem.

He resolved the earlier issue by refocusing. Why it worked he had no idea but if he focused on the thing giving him issues earlier, maybe that would be the start of something. Henry Ruthless was the epitome of self-control. He could look a picture of a beautiful woman and control his degree of temptation. He did it by shifting his thinking of her qualities and attributes instead of focusing on why he stopped at her in the first place. It was an unspoken rule all men followed and he was no different. Men were attracted by looks and then stayed for the fun. So he focused on Megan's lust inducing sculptured figure, those firm and perky melons, legs that would make men hump them, and a stare that made him want to eat her up. A fiery heat rose up from his pelvis and climbed all over his body.

He clenched his hands before it got out of control. He could feel the heat pooling in his fist. It felt dynamic, energetic, excited to explode and release everywhere. Then he punched through the wall and grabbed onto a pipe. The scorching heat had come back but he felt cool. The more he focused on Megan, the higher the pressure he felt on the pipe yet the colder he became. The water was bubbling, trying to burst the pipe so it could escape. The pressure was creating space inside a confined room that had none. Eventually, the entire room exploded in water when the pipes burst simultaneously. Running for the door with a shoulder tackle, he dragged his body against the broken glass before jumping forward with a lean and allowing the momentum to smash him through the door. He closed his eyes before anyone could see them, falling to the ground and then proceeded to be as still as possible.

There was only silence after the water flooded out. No one screamed, yelled, or shouted instructions. They weren't professionals after all. Just kids shocked by an unexpected event. Maybe they had hoped that the incident would mean classes were canceled today. The students never spoke up. It was a professor. The noise had started him, apparently. There was a hint of impatience as though he had taken a nap and wanted to nap more but people kept pestering him until he relented. Interesting how the guards weren't there first. If there were a real accident, wouldn't that mean they were left on their own?

Naturally, the moment he thought that, he heard the familiar calls. He recognized them from when Henry Ruthless tipped the cops off when he'd just beaten an entire buildings worth of drug dealers and users. He was the only one down so the cops took a look at him for ages. Only when he started coughing did they start investigating the arson. Supposed arson. No fire damage. Just water soaked everywhere.

The deans were called in and then the dean of the entire school conducted an investigation. He was questioned again and again and finally released. Official word was that he had seen the intruder but suffered from amnesia. Since only property was damage and no people were harmed, the case was dropped and turned cold. That was a story that would take place over several months and had nothing to do with him.

He was two hours late by the time the day was over. He had given one out of many interviews that would come but did not suspect him, ever. Megan was waiting for him at five. She wore a knee high dress this time, adorned with fake flowers and pictures of gems. Glossed to give the illusion that they were reflecting light. The passenger seat had been unlocked for him and in the back he saw a girl he didn't recognize. As he pulled on the handle, she noticed him, looked, and smiled. Gave a thumbs up and a wink. Reached her hand out for a fist bump. He returned it and nodded. Got into the car and looked at Megan who was already staring at him. Staring, not looking. He lost his breath but regained it when the girl giggled.
