Chapter 4 - Why am I here?

On the other side, Cordelia and Lily had been teleported to individual rooms alongside numerous human youths who turned 18 across the entire planet.

Absolute nothingness surrounded their vision that slowly receded, giving way to light, allowing the youths to look around their surroundings.

To their vast astonishment, they all found themselves in empty white rooms.

The rooms were nothing special, however. Their size being just 20 by 20 feet (or 6 by 6 meter).

Despite the weirdness of the situation, every youth present had the most joyous of expressions after recognising the phenomena.

Some grinning like idiots, some laughing stupidly, some mumbling incoherently, some crying tears of joy, some resolving to do their best and various other expressions.

Only two of the countless thousands, maybe millions, of youths had neutral expressions.

One was a man with short, slick black hair and piercing red eyes with a particular cold and detached look, radiating an aura of dread, adding a frightening feeling about him.

He sported branded clothes, wearing just a casual white T-shirt and black cargo pants pairing with his white and black sneakers.

Despite the casualness of his attire, they didn't reduce his charm, only accentuating his handsome visage.

On the other hand, the second person with a somewhat neutral expression was a girl with dirty black hair and dim, unfocused blue eyes with a depressed, weary air about her.

She wore clothes that seemed to have lost luster, showing just how many times they had been washed and re-worn.

Unlike others who at least understood their situation and celebrated, she had no idea what was going on.

'Cordelia, come on! You can do it! Move your damn body!' The girl resolved within herself but failed to achieve her goal of making any movements.

She was unaware that countless youths were awaiting something as she was trying to failingly move her body but it was just too rigid for her to move.

–Ding!

To her absolute shock, a large sound resounded. Yet her shock went underplayed because of the fact she couldn't control her body yet, exhibiting no body movements.

[Welcome to the Otherworld, the world full of magic, myths, knights, stories of great adventurers and heroes of the past!]

'This... No it can't be...' Cordelia's mind went haywire, in complete denial of her current situation, but the translucent floating blue window in front of her didn't wait for her to settle down.

[As you all might have heard already, several worlds including yours are under the threat of extinction at the hands of those vile creatures!]

A large number of images started showing up, flashing from planets to solar systems, completely battered, destroyed to debris.

Photos of broken civilization played immediately after, causing all the youths to resolve themselves, or at least most of them.

And well, there was also one who was having a mental breakdown for the last few seconds but it ceased as she heard the next words.

[Welcome to the world of Fantasy, Gliesor!]

The sound that came with the shift of the blue window couldn't be stopped as it directly sounded in one's consciousness.

And given Cordelia's condition where she couldn't even control her body, it was hopeless from the start.

'What else can even happen now?'

Just as she thought of that, as if someone took it as a challenge, her body jolted with excruciating pain as her mind got assaulted with all the memories of the original Cordelia.

Arghhhhhhh

With guttural wails and grunts of pain accompanied by the blood leaking from her mouth and nose, Cordelia fainted right after she barely gained control over her body.

Not being able to hear the voices of the blue window or even see it, Cordelia went completely oblivious as to what happened due to and after her fainting.

[Delay the Test!]

The following instant, every youth opened their eyes wide at the phenomena that none of them, even the most well-informed, had ever heard about.

Even the man with short black hair and red eyes had a glint of interest flash by his terrifying red eyes.

'Interesting.'

[Dear Examinees, due to unforeseen circumstances, the test shall be delayed until further notice!]

It was the first time since the start of this test that it would be delayed after the youths had been summoned, causing many to wonder about the reason and implications of it.

"Damn it! Till when do I have to stay here!?"

Well, there were naturally those who felt dissatisfied by the delay but they too knew their limits, holding on to their curses.

"I want to kill that bitch! She can't go back alive or else..."

The one cursing and swearing to kill someone was none other than Lily, Cordelia's 'sister'.

Ignoring her outburst, there was another person with different reactions than others and the actual cause of the delay.

One might think that it was delayed because of Cordelia but that was far from the whole truth.

In another similar empty white room, lay a pink haired girl, whose captivating beauty couldn't be defined with words alone.

Even her current tired, scrunched up expression along with her body drenched in cold sweat would warrant protection and love, rather than disdain or ignorance.

With luscious pink hair that cascaded down her shoulders to her waist with a few strands falling upon her tired face, she panted heavily.

"Huff... Huff..."

Her perfect length light pink eyelashes fluttered open ever so slowly, unveiling her amethyst pupils that could draw in any one daring enough to stare into them too long.

"Ugh! Wh...what happened?"

She mumbled in confusion, her voice squeaky yet pleasing but she didn't get any answer to her doubts.

[Get ready! The transmission to Gliesor is beginning!]

The youths didn't understand what happened, nor could they be bothered to care about it. All that mattered to them was that they were going to Gliesor, the otherworld.

It was the only place where their opportunity to change their cruel fates and become a pillar of humanity to be revered by everyone lay.

Or the opportunity to backstab said future pillars and take control of the world...

By the time this message echoed, Cordelia had also regained her senses somewhat.

However, she still couldn't accept the reality of her current situation irrespective of how mentally strong she perceived herself as.

Unfortunately, time waited for no one as her form was enveloped by invisible powers just like the countless others.

In less than five seconds, the form of all the youths vanished from the white rooms as they felt disoriented and dizzy before coming to their senses.

None of them could understand what just happened, let alone Cordelia, who was seemingly having a mental breakdown, unable to accept the situation. 'No! This...! This can't be happening...! I don't want to!!'

Unsurprisingly, she was none the wiser when it came to such a weird situation.

While at the same time, the other youths were in different parts of a humongous forest with gigantic trees up to hundreds of feet.

[Welcome to Gliesor]

The blue window popped up once again in front of everyone, jerking them out of their short reverie.

A blue barrier appeared on the forms of the youths that had been attacked the moment they were transmitted here as the blue window continued.

Cordelia's throat ran dry as she nervously swallowed her saliva before coming to any conclusion despite all the clues.

In the end, however, she couldn't take it anymore as she felt that her mind might collapse as she ended up shouting in sheer indignation.

"What the hell? This is the world of 'The Mary Sue's Secret Lover'!! No Way!!"

"IMPOSSIBLE!"

"More than that..."

"WHY AM I HERE!?"
