Chapter 15 - The Golden Pavilion

Freya was a little hesitant. She liked Leo a lot, but there wasn't much going on right now to keep them together. She didn't forget to look at Leo one more time before getting in the carriage. Leo had made a lasting impression on her heart after the battle, leaving a deep mark.

Cassia and Freya got into the carriage. Moving again, the carriage from the City Lord's Mansion set off. The scenery around the martial arts field got a little less pretty.

It was hard for the martial artists who were watching to take their eyes off the wagon. Unaware of their identities, Cassia and Freya refrained from expressing affection. Instead, they had to bury it. They were not even close to being as good as the Sterling Family or the City Lord's Mansion.

The servants refrained from causing any trouble in the arena due to Leo's intimidating threat. They obediently turned over all of their belongings.

"Hey, brother Leo, we cobbled together two hundred twenty-six taels of gold. It appears that these slaves had some fantastic things on them. Alden smiled as he talked while holding the money. This much money was not a small amount for him.

Although Leo and Harold had only bet two hundred taels of cash, Leo's decision not to murder him was already incredibly compassionate because Harold had broken his promise. An extra twenty taels of gold were undoubtedly not going to be returned.

Leo's eyes lit up at the sight of the gold, pleased with their efforts. He knew that with this much money, they were one step closer to reaching their goal of gaining more power and influence in the city. He instructed Alden, "Put the money away, and let's head to the Golden Pavilion."

Hearing this, Alden's face turned bitter. "Brother Leo, do you really wish to acquire that specialized blank scroll and savage wolf blood? If you ask me, you should spend that money on some Dan medication instead. After purchasing a few pieces of Ethereal Soulforce Crystal and Bone Cleansing Dan, I believe you will surely break through. That would be far more reliable than purchasing enchantment materials!"

Alden sighed as he said that. He softly placed his palm on his mouth and tugged on it slightly: "His mother… This is entirely due to my cheap tongue. Why did I tell you about enchanters? How could practicing enchantment be so simple? If it were actually simple to practice, everyone would learn enchanting; who would still cultivate, ah?"

Listening to Alden's constant babbling made Leo laugh a bit. He knew Alden was looking out for him, so he said, "Relax." "If I didn't have confidence, I wouldn't do it."

Alden was dumbfounded. He was about to refute Leo when he suddenly remembered the match with Harold. Leo also made these remarks.

He found himself at a loss for words. 'Who would have predicted that Leo would win so easily? Who knows, maybe elder brother Leo may truly become an enchanter.'

Alden wasn't sure if he was soothing himself or truly trusted Leo's comments.

Leo and Alden exited the stage and headed straight to the Golden Pavilion. The Whitaker family's servants finally let out their breaths as Leo walked away from the platform. They ran over to Harold. He was unconscious but still breathing.

Soon, Leo and Alden returned to the Golden Pavilion. However, at the moment, there was a very luxurious carriage parked outside the Golden Pavilion. A squad of guards stood to the side, waiting.

"That's the carriage from the City Lord's Mansion, isn't it?" With some astonishment, Alden said.

Leo couldn't resist taking another look at it. Yes, that was the same carriage they had seen at the fighting arena. He didn't anticipate that it would be so appropriate. Considering it, "Those two stunning females ought to be inside the Golden Pavilion as well, don't they?" Leo asked.

Leo immediately shook his head as the thought of Cassia and Freya raced through his thoughts. He was aware that, at least for the time being, they were completely different from him due to their identities.

"Ignore that. Come with me inside." Leo spoke as he led the way inside the Golden Pavilion.

As Leo entered the Golden Pavilion, he looked around but failed to spot those two. After being somewhat perplexed, he felt relieved. Considering their noble backgrounds, it was expected that someone would be present to receive them, acknowledging their status.

There was the old shopkeeper in the Golden Pavilion, still sitting behind the counter with his eyes closed. He had already given up on the issue involving Leo and Harold. This was simply a little incident for him.

The shopkeeper turned slowly and saw that people had come in. A tinge of astonishment passed across his eyes when he realized it was indeed Leo. His body tensed up without realizing it.

"It's you?"

"That's correct. Elder, please bring out the savage wolf blood and a blank scroll; I'd want to buy them. Leo grinned and spoke.

After Leo finished speaking, the old shopkeeper stood still and questioned, "You actually won?"

It appeared that he hadn't adequately judged Leo; otherwise, he wouldn't have tried to give Leo advice, but he hadn't expected Leo to arrive here so fast, and his appearance didn't indicate that he had just been in life-or-death combat.

However, now that Leo had stated that he intended to acquire supplies, he obviously had money. The only explanation for this was that Leo had won, and he appeared to have won fairly casually.

"That's correct. How could Harold, who is a fourth-level body refiner, be my older brother Leo's opponent? Older brother Leo used a bamboo staff to knock the person out." Alden responded with such zeal that it appeared as if the winner had been him rather than Leo.

Leo nodded and responded with a gentle "Mm" to the old merchant.

"Not bad, not bad." The corners of the old shopkeeper's eyes revealed a touch of admiration. If supporting Leo earlier was merely for convenience, Leo now has his whole focus.

He still did not want information concerning Leo's fight. Each martial artist had their own secrets and trump cards. But, in any case, knowing that Leo's power was body refining in the third level and that he defeated Harold on the fourth level was enough.

"I've previously given you rates for blank scrolls. Which one do you want? How much savage wolf blood do you want?" The old shopkeeper casually inquired.

Leo stated in a slightly softer voice, "For blank scrolls, I want 10 low grades and one high grade. As for savage wolf blood, one bottle."

The high-grade blank scrolls cost ten taels of gold apiece. Leo didn't have a method to purchase it in bulk, but he decided to buy one just in case. After all, employing high grade blank scrolls resulted in significantly greater success rates than using low grade blank scrolls.

The old shopkeeper gently nodded his head before turning and going to pick it up.

Soon, eleven blank scrolls and a vial of ferocious wolf blood were placed in front of Leo.

One blank scroll was separated from the rest. Upon closer inspection, the high-grade blank scroll stood out due to its intricate golden markings and a faint glow of ethereal energy, surpassing the others in both appearance and mystical aura. Obviously, this was a high-grade blank scroll worth ten taels of gold.

The ferocious wolf's blood was stored in a unique jade vial, essential for maintaining its potency, which itself cost 10 taels of gold.

"Eh, is that you? Are you also an enchanter?" A sweet voice emerged from the side at that moment.

When Leo heard the voice, he and the other two turned their heads simultaneously. Two attractive women were walking down the stairs, holding hands. It was Cassia and Freya!

Cassia's interested eyes fell on Leo and the magic supplies on the table, while Freya gazed directly at Leo with evident eagerness. Cassia's eyes widened in astonishment, while Freya's face lit up with joy as they were reunited, showing a mix of surprise and happiness.
