Soon, the mysterious 'handsome duo' who made the finest dyed rugs and carpets in town caught wind of many rumors, and some were whispered straight in front of Jylan and Sebastian's faces since they usually kept a low profile. This 'handsome duo' was heavily requested, and the two soon found themselves regularly receiving mail asking for more orders. Oh, but this wasn't their main goal. No, their main goal was something completely different.
Sebastian and Jylan both missed being nobles. This simply meant they had to start their ascension back to the crowns a bit faster. Sebastian in particular didn't even like the idea of being poor, which often led Jylan to laugh at his face. One day, Jylan was sewing together the ends of a rug while Sebastian painted over it carefully with a brush, when Jylan said,
"Any plans for the future, My Prince?"
Sebastian shook his head. Jylan made three more stitches, fingers flying over the fabric faster than Sebastian's eyes could follow them.
"What plans are there going to be? We're poor." Sebastian scoffed, and Jylan silently continued stitching the rug.
"I was poor too, my prince. It doesn't mean anything is impossible." Jylan said softly. Sebastian dipped this brush into the jar of red dye and dabbed it carefully on the carpet in a circle shape.
"You don't count," Sebastian said, and Jylan's fingers suddenly stopped moving.
"Why? Because I used to be a slave? or perhaps because I wasn't good enough to become a ruler and got stuck as a Duke?" Jylan asked loudly. Sebastian realized his mistake and put down the paintbrush.
"Wait, Jylan -"
There was no reply as Jylan silently left the room.
Sebastian sighed. What a stupid idiot prince he was. A good-for-nothing. He'd never be anything great. If he wasn't a crown prince, he would have never been anything great at all. He slowly picked up the needle and began to sew while berating himself.
There he went again. Ruining everything.
