Chapter 136 - Where Are Your Parents?

"You got a point."

Irina suddenly deflated like a robot running out of battery, wrapping up Excalibur Mimic again.

"But Xenovia, where are we gonna get food?" Irina asked, puzzled.

"Who knows!" Xenovia snapped.

"Maybe we can find some people and make them give us money?" Irina's eyes lit up with an idea. "If they're heretics, the Lord might forgive us, right?"

"Maybe..." Xenovia's confidence wavered after Irina spoke.

"This is a crime! Even if the Lord forgives us, the police here won't," Xenovia said tiredly. Her partner was such an airhead, always coming up with outrageous plans.

"Why don't we go back and accept Rias Gremory's offer? They're nobles; they'll definitely give us a place to stay," Irina suggested, her eyes shining.

"Are you serious about asking devils for help?" Xenovia was tempted but couldn't shake her faith enough to accept help from devils.

"Well then, what do you suggest we do? Beg on the streets?" Irina sighed, scratching her head. She couldn't come up with a better plan.

"Begging... As believers, it's not really begging!" Xenovia was stunned for a moment, then something clicked.

"There are so many people in Kuoh Town; surely some believers can fund us a bit."

With that, she grabbed Irina and headed to the busiest shopping district.

After leaving Kuoh Academy, Mahiro and Rias casually followed behind Irina and Xenovia.

It wasn't really stalking; more like they just happened to be going the same way.

Honestly, Mahiro and Rias didn't even bother hiding; they looked more like a couple on a date.

"Here you go," Mahiro said, buying two ice cream cones and handing one to Rias.

"Thanks, Darling." Rias accepted the ice cream with a sweet smile, her eyes gleaming.

As she enjoyed her ice cream, Rias glanced over at the two girls ahead and chuckled. "They really are a couple of idiots."

"Do you think the church sent them on purpose?" Mahiro smirked.

Walking from the school, Rias had been watching Irina and Xenovia's antics and couldn't help but feel speechless.

Maybe they're talented fighters chosen to wield holy swords, but after seeing their earlier actions, she couldn't bring herself to see them as a threat.

From an outsider's perspective, these two were just too naive.

"Maybe they sent them because they're easy to manipulate—not much strategic thinking involved," Mahiro shrugged.

"By the way, why does it feel like there are more police patrolling today?"

Kuoh Town wasn't a big city, but among small towns, it was pretty developed.

Usually, the place was peaceful without so many police around.

Today felt different.

Rias grinned mysteriously.

"Actually, I made a call yesterday saying there might be some dangerous people sneaking into Kuoh Town, so they should keep an eye out."

Mahiro laughed. "You really took what I said yesterday to heart."

Since Kuoh Town was under gremory territory, Rias's words carried weight.

Plus, Kuoh Academy was an elite school. Besides devil aristocrats like Rias, there were also kids from wealthy families and even some foreign aristocrats.

If any dangerous people showed up and threatened those students, it would cause major problems.

So the local police were on high alert.

"Looks like those two are in for some trouble," Mahiro said, his gaze falling on Irina and Xenovia. A sly smile formed on his face.

In the distance, Irina and Xenovia had donned their white cloaks, sticking out like sore thumbs in the bustling shopping street.

But the real issue was what they were doing.

"Please offer some aid to lost lambs," Xenovia said, hiding most of her face under her hood, her voice flat and lifeless.

"Dear believers, show us your mercy," Irina echoed.

In front of them was a pot-like object Irina had created using Excalibur Mimic, meant to collect money.

"Xenovia, is this really going to work?"

After shouting for over ten minutes without earning a single amount, Irina was starting to doubt herself. She leaned over and whispered.

"With so many people around, someone's bound to help," Xenovia insisted.

"Really? Feels like everyone's giving us weird looks," Irina muttered, glancing at the crowd.

People were pointing at them. Some kids wanted to approach, but their parents hurriedly pulled them away, worried something was off.

"Ignore their stares. This must be a test from the Lord!" Xenovia said, though she didn't sound too confident.

"What are you two up to?"

Their strange behavior finally caught the attention of patrolling officers. Two policemen approached them.

"We're waiting for believers to help us," Xenovia replied.

"Believers? Are you foreigners?" one of the officers asked, eyeing them suspiciously.

"Yes, we're devout Catholics," Irina said with an awkward smile.

"Begging isn't allowed here," the officer stated.

"We're not begging; we're guiding believers. If they help us, they'll surely ascend to heaven," Irina protested.

"Oh, is that so?" The police officer chuckled, extending his hand. "May I see your IDs?"

Irina: "..."

Xenovia: "..."

They did have identification.

But thanks to Irina's blunder, they lost it.

And with their outfits, there was nowhere to hide anything.

"Don't tell me you don't have any ID?" The officer grew more cautious.

Normally, he'd ignore a couple of girls doing cosplays.

But they had orders to watch out for suspicious individuals.

These two were dressed oddly and couldn't produce ID—definitely suspicious.

"Where are your parents?" the officer pressed.

Irina: "..."

Xenovia: "..."
