Chapter 29
everyone is getting ready, as we prepare to head for the council meeting that brought us to the capital in the first place. while I and luvera on the other hand are getting ready to bust cept out of the dungeons, the village chief does not agree with the idea but I couldn't give a rats ass what anyone thinks at the moment. Kasim tries to convince luvera that our mission would cause more harm than good, but it looks like she was looking for any good excuse to free cept. with the level of determination me and luvera are exuding it almost feels like we might be able to pull this off, though the others don't seem to understand and try to convince us otherwise. the village chief tells us that our set objective and goal will result in a very different outcome. but I honestly do not care, because by the gods will I allow cept to die when I know it is not far beyond me to save him, I have already seen so many hurt and die. Gideon suggest that we wait and free cept when we are in the council meeting as they cannot kill any criminal offenders without the explicit say so of the council members and they have no choice than to bring them to the meeting since the king will be there. the King, The White oak king, the one in support of the extinction of the accursed ones, the one who supports the dark hand of the order in the shadows. I agree to what Gideon suggests, and decide that we rescue cept from certain death while in the meeting. the village chief decides to calls for some horses to which we ride on to inner sections of the capital, the Mid yards, where the capital hall is located, leaving Mr. Ozar and his son, Azzar at the motel. the council meeting however being a debate of the allocation of the kingdoms resources that occurs daily as the oak kingdom is one of the biggest kingdoms in the country. it is mainly headed by the noble families of the kingdom, the ones who think themselves philosophers and aristocrats, deciding who in the Kingdom gets what, when and how. mainly headed by the House of Ashaen Lurr and supported by some other houses, the house of Akamaetha and the house of Agathaele. these inglorious bastards get to decide on most of the things that happen in the kingdom, but their say must have the seal of the king, who is too lazy to sanction some of their actions and instead just grants them free reign. once we are at the meeting and some big name says something stupid, I might be executed on the spot for what I might do to them. as we approach the mid yards, we notice there is a military checkpoint, where they search all who attempt access into the mid yards. the village chief tells me as if to scold me, that there are a few more noble houses that will be made present today since the king will be in attendance. even mere peasants will be in attendance, which is why he was against me and luvera's Idea of breaking into the dungeons to free cept from captivity. I don't know if the village chief knows this, but I am starting to hate his gut with each passing second. it seems that he is just willing to lie down and take everything to the face without even fighting for what is his, and now I'm beginning to see him as weak or maybe he is just old.
we get to the checkpoint, where they stop and search us for any weapons and the likes. we get searched at the checkpoint and they let us through, we then head straight for the Capital hall and it is packed. since the king will be in attendance, alot of oak kingdom citizens, village chiefs, and noble houses of the kingdom will also be in attendance. according to the village chief, since the current kings inauguration ceremony, there has not been an event in the Kingdom that boasts this many people in attendance. there is infact no need for him to tell me that, because it is evident enough from the crowd here. I've never seen this magnitude of people in one place at once, it's almost overwhelming really. the chief tells us to wait for him, while he go talks to someone. after a while of just standing and staring at random people, the chief returns with what he says is some bad news. he says that our plan to rescue cept will not be possible, I get irritated and confront him about trying to deter us from rescuing cept. he says that there are a few people in attendance of the meeting that would most certainly make our plans a failure, but I refuse to believe there is no way I can save cept from the fate of the gallows. I ask tell the chief that if he is talking about Sir Lu Quincy and the knights of the jaded ones, then he should not worry as I have planned for them already. he tells me that he is not worried about them but about some others he never expected to be in attendance as well as the king. the likes of Lord Dagon Lebaniss of the house of leban, Lady Jaen Anakeath of the house of Anaka, Lord daenish tangrit of the house of tangrit and even Lord Aegeus lebaniss the red knight of the house of leban. well, the village chief wasn't lying when he said that our little jail break plan would not be possible, those names all belong to the heavy hitters of the kingdoms forces, why are they in attendance of this meeting. what is going on, what is about to happen in the oak kingdom. regardless of what is going to happen, I must remain steadfast in my plan to save cept , I will not let another friend die.
