Coral startled awake at the sound of her name, her heart pounding in her chest.
She hadn't been sleeping comfortably, and the sudden noise jarred her into alertness. She stood up quickly, trying to gather her bearings.
"Student Coral, tell us where we are." the history teacher demanded, her cold eyes piercing through Coral.
Coral glanced around the room, feeling the weight of everyone's eyes on her.
"I don't have my book." she mumbled, her voice barely above a whisper because of sleepiness.
The class buzzed with excitement, anticipating the drama that was about to unfold.
The teacher's expression darkened. "Because you don't have a book, you think you can sleep in my class? Where are your manners? It's your first day, and you're already being disrespectful!" she shouted, her voice echoing through the room. Some of the students visibly trembled at the force of her anger.
