Chapter 9 - Eclipse Enforcer Academy

The taxi gracefully glided to a stop at the electromagnetic taxi stand, its green-tinted windows retracting seamlessly into the metallic walls, akin to traditional Japanese doors. Ren's gaze fell upon the imposing structure of the Eclipse Enforcer Academy, its name paying homage to the legendary Eclipse Enforcer Mecha piloted by the esteemed Female Warrior Verix Helos.

Ren's golden eyes observed the transparent sheet-like gate with a sense of intrigue. An embedded scanner emitted a gentle blue light, meticulously verifying the identity of each individual to uphold the institute's security protocols. Ren effortlessly passed through the entrance, stepping into the 'portal', and into a 'new world'.

Little God squinted its oceanic eyes in comfort as it rested upon Ren's shoulder and told Ren about the history of such a building.

Legend had it that when the blue eclipse formed many years ago, it forced the launch gates to halt, preventing the army from making a bigger space jump. A comet approached Nexus city without anyone to stop or change its direction. Verix Helos, stationed on a nearby planet, bravely embarked on a solitary mission. Utilizing every ounce of her strength, she valiantly destroyed the cataclysmic threat, but at the cost of her powers, rendering her a mere civilian afterward. In honor of her extraordinary sacrifice, this prestigious high school was established 146 years ago.

Eclipse Enforcer Academy was plastered on the huge metallic structure with large windows that allowed natural light to flood into the classrooms and corridors. The exterior was adorned with holographic displays showcasing student achievements and upcoming events. The more Ren stepped forward, the more his appreciation grew. This building exceeded his expectations.

Ren's legs took him towards the huge rough concrete pillar, so similar to the one on Earth. The moment his fingers touched it, the area turned black and tiny stars shone wherever his fingers glided. The more stars appeared; the more fascinated Ren's eyes became.

'Little God! Look at the texture! Oh, my goodness! It feels so smooth, nothing like its rough appearance.'

The said little God chose to ignore Ren's sudden obsession with textures. If the system didn't know any better, it might have thought that Ren was touching a lover rather than a pillar.

'You better move forward for the office is on the third floor to your left. The students will start coming in huge numbers in 6 minutes and 51 seconds.'

Ren, very reluctantly, moved forward. He passed a few classrooms showing the topper of the said class on the wall. The information regarding every room kept entering his mind at a steady pace.

The outside of the main building only showed the top of the entire grade; however, classes displayed the top three students with outstanding achievements, including but not limited to their marks, lab performance, and Virtual-Reality battle stimulation scores.

Ren passed the Sustainable Energy lab and finally reached the third floor.

The closer he went to the door of the administration office, the more his heart throbbed. He subconsciously touched his chest and patted it lightly to ease the pain. 'What's going on?'

'The previous 'you' wanted to graduate from this academy because of your biological mother. 'You' loved your mother very much and wanted to graduate from the same high school as her.'

So, that's how it is. No wonder his heart felt heavy.

The mother was so busy with her life that she didn't even remember she had a son, and the child bore such harsh bullying because he wanted to make her proud. It only made Ren's decision to leave the school firm.

He placed his hand on the circular marked area on the silver door. After confirming the identity of the student, the door opened, and Ren came face to face with the teacher in-charge of his class, Silvia Yarx. A beauty tall enough to put every man on earth to shame. Those twinkling pale-yellow eyes narrowed on Ren, and in an instant, he was wrapped in a warm embrace. Ren doesn't want to comment on the softness suffocating his nose.

"Oh Dorion, Child, I was so worried about you. Why didn't you answer my call? Are you alright?"

The system played a certain memory inside Ren's mind. A memory of a said female standing up for Dorion and even giving him her meal card.

She is rich, so it doesn't really bother her much.

Every time Dorion encountered a problem, it was Silvia who helped him. One of the very few teachers who didn't look down on Dorion Vitakis.

Ren, still suffocating in the bouncy softness and light floral scent, struggled to breathe again.

"Silvia, you will kill the poor boy..." A high-pitched voice belonged to a small, freckled lady with brown hair and eyes saved Ren from the impending death by suffocation.

"Oh my! Dorion, breathe baby," Silvia released the boy in hurry.

Ren, finally able to breathe again, silently took a few steps back. "Thank you, Miss Yarx, I-I ...am fine. My communicator was off so...."

Ren didn't know how to answer such an enthusiastic woman. 'Dorion was very grateful for the care of Miss Yarx, however, due to his closed-off personality, he hardly ever said more than three sentences to her.' The system told Ren.

Silvia breathed a sigh of relief after seeing Dorion fine, "Follow me, and we will talk."

She twisted her hips and walked on her high heels towards the place three desks away. Ren looked around at the large area filled with separate desks equipped with high-intensity optical brains. Some individuals have a few transparent blue sheets floating around them. Ren watched as they worked through those empty sheets. It must be the third-party protection of sorts to protect the data from prying eyes that they appeared empty to him.

Ren followed the pretty lady in a long blue skirt with waist-length yellow hair to her desk and took a seat under her urging eyes.

"Look child, I know you are here to file a complaint against those kids, and I'll assist you till the end. You don't have to worry..."

Before she could continue to console the wounded child in front of her, a low voice stopped her.

"No, Miss. I don't want that. Please help me with the resignation letter. I want to leave this place." The more the kid spoke, the more his voice vanished into the air.

Ren's first mission was still incomplete. He doesn't want to get entangled with any main character for the time being.

"No! You are staying here!" A stern voice drilled into Ren's ears, making his brain ring for a second.

'She is A level mental user. Your level is high; however, you are still useless.'

Ren's lips twitched. He knows that he doesn't have any expertise in the said field, but does this cute have to say it like this?

The said cute instantly showed its tiny fangs, which almost made Ren coo at it.

The system, "...."

The annoyed system vanished into thin air.

Ren smiled faintly. He might have gone overboard, and now he needed to coax the angry little kitten.

Suddenly a commotion happened, and many of the people working in the department left in a hurry.

"Don't worry about them. There are some big shots in the area, and they went to deal with them. Back to you, child, what were you saying?"

Ren's back instantly sweated under the pressure of those pale eyes. It was not the mental pressure but the presence of the teacher.

Ren could only go ahead and explain that he needed to go far away for some personal reasons and the resignation letter was required.

Their conversation took a longer time than Ren had anticipated. Finally, it was concluded that Ren would stay and prepare for the final exams in the upcoming week. If he passed the exam, he would get the letter; otherwise, he would be coming to the school till the end of the session and graduate like others.

Silvia Yarx refused to compromise on any student's future. She assured Ren that she would stop the bullying and any unnecessary comments reaching Ren.

Ren didn't want to accept the deal but not that he had any choice to begin with.

It appears he had to stay till the end of the term. He refuses to study like he did in his high school! He was a good student, yes. However, that didn't mean that he was willing to study!

Someone, anyone, save him from this endless misery! Ren dragged his body shrouded with the bleakness of the burden of study and stepped out of the door.

The moment the door of the office closed behind him, the system leisurely appeared and landed on Ren's head.

Looking at the silent Ren struggling with the sudden twist of time, the system suddenly felt guilty for leaving him alone.

Does Ren hate study that much?

Well, if he behaves then it might be willing to help him with a few things to pass the exam. Ren's expression mirrored that of someone who had just been informed they had to memorize the dictionary overnight.

After silently making up its mind to help Ren in cheating, the system said, 'What are you thinking so hard?'

Ren finally came to his senses. 'Say. Little god, why is Silvia's hair and eyes yellow and not silver?'

The system, '.....'

Are you playing a matching game? The guilt weighing on its heart vanished without a trace.

As Ren passed the corridor of the Virtual-Reality lab, his brain suddenly loaded with many books thick enough to suffocate Ren's lungs just by looking at them.

The cold childish voice rang in his mind. 'You need to read all these to pass the exam.'

Ren exclaimed in horror, 'You have changed system! You weren't like this before. Help me cheat!'

'Hmph! I am a very dedicated and honest system. Don't tarnish my reputation!'

While one human and one system were bickering with each other, Kade Death made his way toward the Eclipse Enforcer Academy. His team had already reached there and was waiting for him. They were solving the murder happening in the vicinity of the Academy.
