Chapter 29 - I can help

*Vroom!!! Vroom!!!*

As Lucas revved up the motorcycle, the rhythmic hum of the engine served as a background melody for his thoughts. The wind whistled past him, carrying echoes of days gone by.

'Hmm? That was the place, right?' Suddenly, as Lucas saw an internet cafe, the familiar scenes around him triggered a vivid flashback to a few days earlier...

*****

"Controversy~ controversy~ such a big city yet not one fool~" Lucas was muttering as he scrolled his fingers around the screen of a computer inside the internet cafe.

His eyes were rolling around the screen, looking for local news platforms and reading the people making up articles about famous people in the city and their lives.

'It's the common way to gain connections in a new place. The rich young masters, especially the heirs, are big companies or conglomerates that worry a lot about reputation and keep it clean white, but they have a lot of enemies too who want to put strain on the white sheet reputation of theirs.

Hence, to gain connections with these rich folks, you have to clean up their reputation and act cool without any greed. You can indeed gain a favour by expressing your greed but not your connection; that's how business works, hmm...'

Lucas continued to scroll around for several more minutes in that crowdy internet cafe till he finally found the forums showing articles to stain the reputation of such people.

"Ho~ let's see..."

["David Park's Night of Controversy"

David Park, a well-known businessman, faces public scrutiny following a late-night collision with an elderly pedestrian. Witnesses claim Park was under the influence throughout the encounter, raising questions about his behaviour and integrity.

Adding to the outrage, the elderly victim reportedly mentioned Park's wealth, implying a disregard for ordinary people's lives. While the claims lack clear evidence, the episode exposes issues of privilege and accountability.

Critics believe that this episode focuses on systemic flaws through which the wealthy may avoid penalties for their conduct. Despite a lack of conclusive evidence, the scandal threatens David Park's public image.]

As Lucas read through that article, a cold scoff flashed through his face as he muttered, "How much more fake can you get? A pedestrian was hurt by a drink-and-drive case, yet he didn't even report. He could easily get a big compensation claim for court if he had wanted revenge, or he would just get out of court settlement and wouldn't be talking shite on the internet... This is fake, but people are just idiots."

As Lucas scoffed, his cold eyes fell over the comments below that article mocking and cursing David Park without any knowledge of themselves.

[Typical rich guy behaviour: drinks, drives, and puts innocent lives at risk. No surprise here.]

[Money can't buy decency.] David Park's actions show he thinks he's above the law.

[The entitled mindset of the wealthy strikes again. Shame on David Park for endangering lives.]

[It's disgusting how some people believe they can buy their way out of any situation. There is no respect for human life.]

[So-called 'elites' like David Park think they can do whatever they want. Disgusting!]

"Fucking idiots~" Lucas scoffed, and his eyes fell over one of those comments.

For real~ these rich folks really don't care about the poor! I know where he got it from! There is a pub down the street from that place! These rich fuckers visit that place daily! I saw him there many times! If entry fees weren't too big, I would surely go and beat him up!

"A pub down the street, huh?" Lucas muttered with sharp eyes as he stood up from his seat and placed his money over the counter table in front of the owner of the internet cafe. He left the place.

'This makes this easier; I would need to carry out more bullshit to just meet up with this dude~' Lucas thought with a smirk as he grabbed his helmet on a bike and left the place with a smirk, riding his bike down the streets.

*****

It was nighttime now—time for pubs to open up. Lucas, of course, arrived at the place talked about on the internet. The place charged high fees, so there were barely any people waiting outside to get inside, and those who were easily passed by with few checks.

"First timer?" The bouncer outside the gates sternly watched Lucas see his identity card. Lucas smirked and gave a nod. "Indeed."

The bouncer looked at Lucas, observing his looks and clothing. ' Another rich one? From top to bottom, everything he's wearing is damn expensive, and he's good-looking too, meaning he won't be distrubing girls inside, leading to complaints~ which means! This dude is absolutely safe! Rather, he might increase our sales if he visits often.

The face of the bouncer immediately turned to a goofy smile as he opened the doors, shining like a pig. "Please get in~ have a good time ahead, sir! Haha!"

"I will~" Lucas also nodded with a smile, and while taking his card, he entered the pub with a smile. As he walked in, the loud sound of music and flashlights surrounded the whole atmosphere.

People were all dressed up in party clothes, dancing and singing energetically, while many were over the pub taking a drink.

"Glenlivet XXV Scotch..." Lucas ordered as he arrived at the bar counter, taking a seat there. The server saw him and nodded with a smile as he praised, "You know the taste, sir."

"Mhm." Lucas accepted the compliment, and while his drink was being prepared, he looked over the entry point, waiting for David Park.

'Let's just hope the random dude on the internet wasn't lying just to boast random shit on the internet; his words were quite logical; that's why I came here... Let's just hope I'm not wasting my time...' Lucas sighed

"Here is the drink, sir." The server placed the drink beside Lucas. Lucas made a nod and took the drink with a nod, making the server look all shiny and finally getting to the server. He is a good man who knows about drinks.

'It's still a bit confusing why someone will 'purposefully' target someone like 'Jason'; his self-esteem was indeed quite low, but his parents are rich; that's not sort of bullying target to make in schools; if it were for mere amusement, there were students far lower class than him... It's a shitty feeling with how little brats are all so scary and devilish these days.

Lucas thought that as he finished his drink, and just as he finished, suddenly his eyes flashed over the entry point as he noticed David Park walking inside along with a few friends or subordinates of his.

"Good for you, random loser on the internet. Thanks for not lying this time." Lucas muttered with a scoff and suddenly stood up from his seat and started making his way in David Park's direction, while David Park here was looking a bit stressed.

"Sir, please do it this way."

"Shall I call the hostess? There is a new one.

"The energy today is really something."

"Mhm! Lots of young ones, haha!"

David frowned as he heard these people around him making random comments, as he was a bit stressed out with his personal life.

'Father doesn't look too happy about the incident; I just crashed my car on a pole besides the street because a random dog came in the middle of the street; there was no pedestrian, and I wasn't drunk and driving it! Some random bastards took the photo of my car crashing and made up random articles! Tch! It already got 70k views; clearly, someone is pulling stunts here...'

He sighed as he rubbed his forehead and arrived at the special VIP seats reserved for him.

"Sir, I will go call for the hostess and get a drink."

"Haha! Should we be able to?"

"Shut the hell up! Fuck! Tch! Oye Han! Get me a drink! Fucking hell..." David suddenly cussed, silencing all these folks sucking up to him as one of them immediately ran away to get a drink while others just sat down there like wet rats as he rubbed his forehead.

'My troubles aren't ending here; my father is angry, even the shareholders are starting to question my actions, my odds aren't looking too good, and on top of that, these leeches! Tch! I can't have one good day in my life! Useless PR! Useless everything! Why can't they one bastard write fucking articles?'

The frown on his face turned darker, but just then a shadow fell over his face. As he slowly raised his face, he noticed Lucas standing there with a grin on his face as he questioned, "Worried about articles? I can help."
