"Qin Lixin! Could you please hurry up? We are already late!" Yang Feiyu groaned as he knocked at the window of the car. Qin Lixin just knew how to hit his nerve!
"No one is even going to pay attention to your hair!" Yang Feiyu cried in annoyance. He didn't bother setting his hair the whole time they were riding here but now out of nowhere, just before getting inside the court, he remembered his hair was not done.
Qin Lixin caressed the top of his hair as a final touch-up before positioning the rearview mirror to its initial position. And unhurriedly stepped out of the car. "What are you complaining about? You were the one who arrived late to fetch me."
Hearing the cool tone, Yang Feiyu threw a disdainful look at him and scoffed. "You were the one who had denied beforehand the invitation!"
"In that case, you should be happy that I decided to come when the other two backed away."
Yang Feiyu rolled his eyes. "I could have gone alone too! How come your mother allowed you to come out today?" He was so done with his habit of changing the plans at the last moment. Because of him, Yang Feiyu missed the chance to give an amazing entrance.
"She is not here."
"Even if she is not here, her extra eyes should be there." He was referring to Assistant Fang and the butler who always made sure to provide the whereabouts of Qin Lixin to his mother.
"Ah, they? This time they have to turn blind eye to it."
Yang Feiyu stared at him strangely. "What you did?"
Qin Lixin's lips mischievously arched up.
Qin Lixin sat elegantly on the couch made up of high-quality fibres in the living room, with his hands clasped over the crossed knees.
The sunlight falling directly on him through the windows made the dilemma on his face evident. "Assistant Fang, what do you think we should do?"
Assistant Fang who was standing at a distance from him appeared calm and serene on the surface, however, his body gave away the tension he was discreetly hiding. "I do not understand what you are referring, Young Master."
Qin Lixin nodded understandingly. "You don't even have to. The only person who should be able to understand it all is Mom."
"Young Mas-"
Qin Lixin cut him off and showed his palm. "You honestly don't have to provide me with an explanation. I understand there is nothing wrong with these photos and you were only performing your duty as a husband. But..."
He made sure to take a dramatic pause before continuing. "But how would you make my Mom understand? You have known her temper for several years."
Qin Lixin was talking as if it was his biggest concern too.
He looked so worried for Assistant Fang. "Just imagine, when I would send these photos to her...how would she feel? If I could, I indeed want to hide this thing from her but you know how much of a good son I am and can't bear to keep such a secret from her."
By this time, he had already walked up to Assistant Fang and patted his shoulder assuringly. "Don't bother too much about it though. I am sure she wouldn't remove you from your position at the very least considering your contribution of these many years."
Smiling sympathetically at him, Qin Lixin turned his back to him and went to stand near the window to look outside while humming a cheerful melody. Such a good weather it was today!
Assistant Fang followed Qin Lixin's movements before staring back at the phone that his Young Master had handed to him as soon as he stepped here. He should have known only trouble was awaiting him when Young Master had called him to come here urgently.
The photo album was displaying a couple of photos. These photos were from two months back when he had taken his wife out to her favourite restaurant on the occasion of their anniversary. Even going out with his wife had become a crime now!
The problem was not that he had gone out, but him going out at the time when the company was going through the busiest time of the year was an issue. At that time, a meeting with very important foreign-business partners was going to be held in two days and he had yet to check all the reports.
If he were to ask Vice-president directly about the leave, he knew he wouldn't have gotten it. To her, going on dates and dinner was all a waste of time unless it wasn't related to the business. And going on the dinner at the time of such an important meeting, she would've definitely let him go after asking him to hand over his resignation letter.
But it was the first time he promised his wife something like this. Having no other choice, he sneaked out of the building for just two hours when everyone was working overtime.
He had lied to the Vice-President as well, saying he had to go home to fetch the contract and needed to personally go over to give them to the assistant of those foreign-business partners to let them have a clearance about the contract. He had been doing it for several years before every meeting so he was sure this excuse would work.
That excuse wasn't even a lie. He had indeed met the person and passed him the contract, which had taken just about five minutes. After exchanging the pleasantries, he had excused himself to go on a dinner with his wife.
However, now...Assistant Fang was regretting doing that. It was his first time sneaking out during the working hours. All these years, his colleagues had been doing it secretly but none of them was ever caught. This time when he tried the same method, Madam Qin might not have but her son eventually ended up catching him.
Assistant Fang's calmness faltered. He can't let the Vice-president get to know of it, she hated people who took advantage of her trust. Assistant Fang glanced at the butler who helplessly stared back at him, making him sigh even more deeply.
