After they were done for the day, Zhao Yuhui hailed the cab to go to Glimmer. She had not forgotten about her meeting with Manager Liu today.
In the morning, she had texted Chen Peiling to not pick her up because she wanted to go alone. There were several reasons.
The first being that she was still angry.
Second that Chen Peiling would get even more anxious because of this order and that will cause her to act carefully in future.
And the last... Zhao Yuhui wasn't sure of Manager Liu's reaction. She was acquainted with the store manager and obviously would know what happened yesterday. What if she got angry at Chen Peiling?
She had to be careful about this... they were still hand-in-comrades for the rest of her career.
From the window, Zhao Yuhui could see the top of Glimmer Entertainment radiating in the sky. She had been here only a few times so she still get jittery feelings whenever she looked at this building.
Zhao Yuhui got out after paying the driver. Looking at the tall building in her vision, she felt sad remembering she had a long way till she could be called a part of it. She sighed.
This company...did ask each and every kind of devotion from its artists.
Glimmer Entertainment had a different method of managing its artists as compared to other entertainment agencies. It was already hard to enter the company in the first place and when someone really entered, a new race...a new competition started.
In short, it was complicated. There were two types of contracts that Glimmer offered: short-term contracts and long-term contracts.
Before getting long-term contracts, each and every artist had been offered with a short-term contract. Glimmer was very particular in terms of upon whom they would be utilising their resources.
In a short-term contract, the artist was linked with the company for only eight months. If the artist managed to bring profits to the company in such a short time, the company would invest in them and provide a long-term contract that could be extended till years too, if the artist wanted.
This long-term contract was basically an invitation to feasible and luxurious life; professionally and personally.
Zhao Yuhui hadn't wasted any time in signing it when she was offered the short term contract because getting invited was a very rare opportunity. Usually, artists had to audition to get that or apply for it in advance. But in her case, she had gotten lucky to get that without fighting in auditions.
However...walking up the stairs of success still remained a hard task.
Where in the industry she was already a known name, here she was far from that. Instead, she was just one of the numerous unknown names among whom only deserving ones would get the chance to become a future household name.
The competition within the company was much harder than outside since the ones who could really act and had the ability to succeed were contracted. And all the exceptionally skilled actors being in the same place, going through an internal fight for the same thing to secure their professional life...was unimaginably distressing.
Glimmer made it sure since the first day that for them... the acting was no joke.
Zhao Yuhui gave out a deep tired sigh and looked down at her feet. Some still had connections and that made it easier for them to make their place but what about people like her? Neither she had some big shot supporting her from behind nor she could stoop so low to play cheap tricks to get her way.
Breathing had never been difficult but surviving surely had always been.
Zhao Yuhui strode inside the building but alas! Luck did not seem to be on her side today.
"Oh my god! Isn't this our pretty Zhao Yuhui?!" a sharp-pitched voice pointed out as the owner of it removed the shades covering her eyes to display it fully covered with thick makeup.
Trailing behind her were her two minions as what Chen Peiling loved calling them.
Zhao Yuhui smirked looking at the shades casually hanging within her fingers. "It is really my honour that you were able to recognise me even with those dark shades of yours. After all, it is quite a talent to be able to walk without tumbling considering the area is already shining in dim light, Miss Lin Qian."
Lin Qian, a short-term contracted actor was someone on the same boat as hers. As much Zhao Yuhui had known her in this small time, she had learnt that there was only one thing good in her and it was her acting skills. Unlike several others, she never relied upon her body to make the way.
Though she did have a connection, Zhao Yuhui highly doubted that it was enough for her to get where she was currently.
"Ha! You must be quite free to able to utter such outcomes!" Lin Qian mocked with disgust glinting in her eyes. "Unfortunately, the case is not the same with everyone. Like you can see me, I have to go and shoot a commercial advertisement for Heaven Jewellery!"
Heaven Jewellery...even after hearing the name, Zhao Yuhui looked indifferently at her.
Seeing her like this, Lin Qian couldn't help but ask weirdly. "What?"
Hearing her brag about it, Zhao Yuhui internally rolled her eyes and disinterestedly commented. "Don't you think your makeup is too flashy if you are going for a jewellery shoot? People would keep on looking at your thickly coated face instead of what jewellery you are wearing!"
Lin Qian clenched her fists as she gritted upon hearing the insult. "I yet to have change my make-up, you moron!"
"So what you mean is that you wanted to look like a clown so you decided to roam around the company with such a makeup without any reason."
Lin Qian had tried this make-up by herself after watching a tutorial for fun. Later on, she realised that it turned out good and came to show this to her assistant.
But hearing it exactly like how it was from Zhao Yuhui, it felt as if she was insulting so quickly made up a lie. "I came from another shoot!"
"Why are you not going then?"
"Uh?"
Zhao Yuhui couldn't stop the yawn from escaping from her mouth and brought her hand to cover it before repeating. "Aren't you getting late? Why are you wasting your precious time on me?"
Lin Qian was again angered but then scoffed. "Stop pretending in front of me as if you aren't bothered by anything!"
Zhao Yuhui's lips curled and she leaned by Lin Qian's ears to whisper each word clearly. "Trust me, what you are doing on regular days is the least of my worries."
Lin Qian rolled her eyes looking pissed however the next second laughed...maniacally.
Zhao Yuhui straightened her posture and went from there after saying bye.
And the number of enemies she had earned in such a brief time, she had even lost the expectations of getting successful anytime soon.
