Later that evening I'm channel surfing when I hear the front door open.

When she spots me Vignette nusters her usual warm smile.

"Honey, I'm home! "

"Welcome back. "

"No one else around? "

"Are they ever? I'm starting to forget what Mom even looks like. "

She nods distractedly, gazing at the TV screen.

Xion: ""Speaking of missing people, can I ask you something? "

"Sure, what is it? "

"What are you always doing after school? "

"Oh nothing much. Just, you know, girl's stuff! "

"What kind of–"

"Uh-uh-uh"

She wags her finger in front of me with a disapproving look.

"It's not gentlemanly to ask how a woman spends her private time! By the way dinner might be a little late tonight. "

"By the way, dinner might be little late tonight. Hope you're alright to relax until then. "

With that she disappears down the hall to start preparing.

'Somehow it feels like I know even less than before. Still I don't want to pry into her personal affairs. '

I slump back with a sigh hoping the Tv will offer some distraction.

After a while I find my eyes straying towards the kitchen though.

'She invests so much of her time looking after my needs. The least I could do would be to offer some help, right?

Then again whenever I do offer, she shouts me down. '

'Besides I have got burdens of my own to shoulder right down. '

With my mind made up, I nestle into the couch and switch off.

After dinner, I lose myself in a video game until I can barely keep my eyes open anytime. It isn't until I'm starring at the celling above my head that my worries overtake me again.

Facing the prospect of another night of feverish dreams I resolve to

'It's about time I stopped letting myself be the victim and took control of things here! '

Focusing on all my thoughts on my unwelcome lodger, I recall the visions I have seen so far. Before long a strange warmth blooms in my chest.

"It's about time we had words! "

The feeling begins to subside just as quickly though.

'Well maybe it's better not to play with fire anyways. '

I steal a furitive glance out into the darkness through the window.

For all I know, Lilin could be out there watching me right now.
