Once we're home, I head to my room to do some homework.
It isn't long before my rumbling stomach becomes too much of a distraction though.
'Those cafeteria lunches really leave a lot to be desired. I wonder if Vignette has been busy making dinner. '
'Better head down and see if she wants a hand, I guess. '
"Vignette? You still here? "
I start heading for the kitchen, only to stop when I hear a steady breathing sound.
Looking over the back of the couch, I find Vignette lying over there, fast asleep.
'I guess whatever she up to earlier today really wore her out, huh? '
'She looks so peaceful. '
'I don't want to risk waking her up.'
'In the meantime, I'll see about rustling up some dinner. Hopefully without setting the fire alarm off in the process. '
...
I've just put the finishing touches on an instant ramen, when she staggers in, rubbing her eyes.
"Sorry, I lost track of time... Guess I was more exhausted than I thought."
I shrug it off.
"The body knows what the body needs... What were you doing earlier that made you so tired anyway? "
"Oh, just some errands. "
'Talk about being elusive. '
"What kind of errands? "
"My mom just needed some help moving stuff out of storage, that's all... Pretty tiring thing for a dainty girl like myself, you know! "
"It'll be the weekend tomorrow though. Why not wait till then? "
"W-well, you see... We'd, uh... have to pay another monthly fee if we left it any longer... Anyways, I'd better get home! "
She blows a kiss before giggling at her own gesture as she makes her way out.
'Honestly, I don't know what to make of that girl, sometimes. '
I shrug before turning to my dinner with a sense of elation.
'Ahhh, Saturday...
Can't, wait to relax and unwind for a couple of days. '
