Shem pulled a laptop-like gadget only smaller and started rapidly tapping the keys randomly. I knew what he was doing. He was activating the signal jammers to prevent motion detectors going off or the CCTV cameras giving us away.
"Done," he said as he put it back on his hip pocket," we're clear."
"Good, now let's go get paid." I pulled my hunting knife from its sheath and assumed a striking stance. Quietly, we jumped over the brickwalled fence and advanced forward towards the backdoor. I had anticipated an encounter with guards on this side of the house but to my surprise no one was guarding the backdoor. I reached for the door and picked the lock quietly. Seconds later to my amusement, it clicked open giving us way into the house, undetected.
Shem was already inside as soon as I stepped in. He was eager to finish the mission and be done with it.
"Let's kill a motherfucker," he whispered as he tapped my back to signal he was coming behind me. Finding the target's masterbedroom was as easy as counting from one to three.
"Hey, Shem," I whispered to him as a wave of uneasiness hit me,"don't you find it weird that this is too easy?"
"Who's scared now?" I could hear him struggling not to laugh.
"Enough with the humour mate, let's focus. I don't trust what I'm feeling." I said as we approached a golden door at the end of the hallway. The house was easy to navigate as it boasted of simplicity. Finding his bedroom was not a hard fete. I reached for the door knob and slowly turned it. The door opened. But before I could step into the room, a loud shriek came from behind me. I turned around only to find Shem grabbed by the neck. It was Goliath.
"Who sent you?" He asked with a deep voice, so deep he could have made it to the top in the TV business, "and who are you?"
Shem's head started to turn red and I knew it was time to act or else I would lose a dear friend. I pulled a silencer from my hip pocket and screwed it into my handgun. I was not going to face-off that monster. But I was late. A heavy blow landed on my face before I could lift a finger.
"How can he move so fast?" I wondered. He started advancing towards me as I struggled to decipher what had happened. He reached for my leg and swung me about like I was a pillow. I landed on the golden door pushing it open to reveal what looked like a five star hotel room. I could see Shem laying unconscious across the hallway as the giant entered the room.
"Master! Intruders! You must go now!" Goliath shouted and then suddenly stopped. His eyes bulged out like they were about to bust. I could see he was feeling pain and fear like he world was coming to an end. Sure, it was coming to an end. He fell down face first on the expensive marble floor and let out a small part. That was when I saw Shem standing on the hallway, my gun in hand. My eyes then shifted to the Minister. He was terrified like he'd seen aliens from other worlds. He was sweating, profusely. The pain that hit my head as I stood up made me change my mind about giving the man a quicker death. I drew my hunting knife and went to the man, I bit my teeth and tightened my grip on the knife, then with all my might I dug the sharp end in between his ribs and twisted it. I pulled it out and then repeatedly did the same for five times. He let out his last breath and his body fell limp on the king-sized bed as blood gushed out with such might as if it was in search of freedom.
"About time we get paid," Shem said as he gave out an evil grin. The mission was completed but we were trapped. Goliath had alerted the other guards and now all of them were pouring into the leaving room like bees.
"Let's go shaving!" I said to Shem as we left the room to find our way out of the angry security men. Two against... that many, I did not bother for a headcount this time as we bursted into the room our guns blazing endless rounds. They did not have time for a reaction or finding cover. The bullets went home, nice and easy, killing all the guards in the rooms with none to spare. The rusty smell of blood filled the house signalling us it was time to leave. Mission accomplished.
