Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Stealth mode

The air suddenly changed and became more 'wild' and cold. Lightning struck just a few metres from our vantage point lighting the whole area to reveal thick bushes and tall everliving hardwood trees. Then it started raining.

"Tactic change," I said as I started to disassemble the rifle into what looked like a pile of metal cuttings.

"This changes everything," Shem already knew now what was about to happen, "this time you go first and I'll cover you."

"Why not do a coin toss? Huh? Or maybe you're scared," I teased him knowing that scared was not a word we embraced.

"No coin toss, if you're scared just say so," he teased back, "there's no shame in admitting that you're scared."

"Damn right I'm scared," I added to the humour as we finished packing our gear and loaded it into our off-road pickup.

"So do we take care of all of them or are we doing stealth mode this time?" Shem asked. But he already knew what I was going to say, "I prefer stealth. Makes me feel dangerous when I can see you but you can't see me."

"Stealth mode is our best option right now. No one can know we are here. Carry your handgun just in case Mr. Goliath decides not to sleep. I can't fight with that demon, it's suicide." I added. I knew if we fought one on one the humongous bodyguard could not surpass me but then you can never be too careful. I thrust my G-19 onto my shoulder holster as Shem tested the sharpness of his machetes. We were ready to go.

As we approached the house compound, I could the guards were already asleep.

"So much for security," I thought to myself.

"The puppy on the main gate is barking," Shem said as he followed me closely. I noted that the guard on the main gate was listening to something on his earphones which I could not tell due to the rainshowers. The others were comfortably asleep on their posts and they would regret later.

"We will use the backdoor to avoid Goliath then do our thing and leave before we are seen." Shem nodded in agreement. We made our way to the backyard undetected.
