Tai heaved heavily trying to regain his breath after the beat down he had received.
"What..was that?" He asked heaving.
Nick removed the sword from the chest of Rai and sliced the air in order to remove the blood from the blade, sheathing the sword he immediately attended to his beloved son.
"That was the legendary prowess of the Voltia clan, Azashi Modo (lit. Assassin mode)." Nick responded tending to Tai's wounds.
"A-azashi modo?" Tai became confused.
"How come I've never heard of it?" He asked in order to clear his confusion.
"Because Tai, the assassin mode is not an ability most Voltia can learn or awaken. Not even I have been able to fully grasp the concept of the technique." Nick paused, facing the direction of his now deceased son.
"But somehow, that vermin was fully able to grasp the technique and almost killed you." He continued the treatment he gave to Tai.
"But father, if it was the legendary technique of our clan why kill him?" Tai asked, putting outside personal grudges with Rai. The assassin mode technique was something a member of the Voltia can achieve once in a blue moon. That is too say, currently or rather previously Rai was the only wielder of the assassin mode prowess till he was murdered in cold blood.
"Won't that be a disadvantage to us? I mean we became legendary because of that prowess and now the only person to unlock it after all the time is dead? What's going to happen to the clan if a even more powerful clan arises?" Tai threw very convincing points at Nick.
Nick stared at the body of Rai, his hatred towards him had driven him to do something that had now greatly affected the progress of the clan.
"I..I don't know.." He replied.

Rai's spatial body floated within an empty void, it was bright and vast in size. One could say it was similar to that of a bottomless pit but instead of falling endlessly, Rai floated within that space.
"Where am I?" He examined his environment carefully.
"Is this..the after life?" He spoke to himself with his voice echoing softly throughout the bottomless space.
"Hmph, to think my life ended in the hands of those I looked up to the most, I just wished I'd gotten the chance to see the beautiful moonlight and break of dawn once more before I left the world." He sighed speaking in his thoughts.

"Huh?" His attention was quickly taken by the notification that popped out on a holographic board or more preferably a HUD in front of him. "What is this?" He asked in his thoughts.

WHOOSH!
Rai was drawn into a rush of energy, he felt like he fell into a the middle of a spinning vortex and by the time he realized it, his eyes opened wide. It took sometime for his eyes to adjust to the brightness but when he did, he found himself on the ground in what appeared to be a battlefield.
"What is this?" He asked in his thoughts as he sat up slowly, gazing at all the dead bodies that surrounded him. Judging by the condition of the body and the blood on the ground, it was almost a full day since these bodies were slaughtered.
Rai was an assassin in his previous life so coming across things like this that a regular human being may find sickening, was actually something normal to him.
Rai got up to his feet, examining his environment like one would do if they ended up stranded in the unknown.
"Where am I?" He asked softly.
He stared into his palm and at his body, he was more paler than usual. His body was perfectly toned and not as lean as it was in his previous life due to starvation.
"Woah woah woah...it can't be, can it?" The more he tried to understand what happened, the more clear it became.
"I... transmigrated? Or was it reincarnated? Whatever." No matter what it was one thing was for certain, he was pretty sure that he was supposed to be dead.
"I can't get stabbed in the heart several times over and still be alive right?" He asked himself again once more.
Noises emerged from a distance which prompted Rai to turn around swiftly. His eyes met with a horse heading towards him.
His instincts told him to lay low. "Assassins code 14: Never engage an unknown enemy." He could hear the voice of his deranged past life step brother as he remembered the 100 codes the assasins lived by.
At this point they only way he was going to find answers to his questions was to confront them and so he did. He waited till the horse arrived.
An individual hurried down from the horse as he laid eyes on Rai. "A survivor!" He exclaimed in excitement.
"What?" Rai blurted out loud.
"Are you hurt? I can't believe someone actually survived that invasion." The individual spoke thoroughly examining Rai's body.
"Back up." Rai spoke with an intimidating voice which resulted in the young man respecting his personal space.
"First tell me who the hell you are and where I am." Rai demanded for answers.
"You don't know?" The young man asked in confusion.
"Know what?" Rai responded.
"This town was invaded by the paradoxes." The young man answered his question.
"The what now?" Rai became even more confused.
"The paradoxes, They are a group of demons who invaded our world from the infernal realm." The young man's explanations made everything even worse. Now he was talking about demons.
"Oh..k I think I'll stick with questions that makes a little more sense, who the hell are you?" Rai switched it up.
"I don't have time to explain to you, we have to move now before the paradoxes retu-....oh good lord." The young individual was interrupted by the gnarly sounds of several creatures which surrounded them.
They all possessed the same characteristics, red bodies with two horns on their head, serpent like claws and tails and as well they possessed fangs. These creatures were also huge reaching up to 10ft in height.
"What the hell are these things!?" Rai exclaimed in disgust.
"It's too late...the paradoxes have arrived..." The young man spoke showing signs of fear and resistance.
