I was processing what this man just said. Seriously? Conrad rejected my freedom just like that?. "You won't let me go?" My voice was still raspy when it came out. "Why?" I asked him.

No way. I didn't believe he was able to do this to me. "Conrad. Are you seriously saying that to me?" My soul was hurt so much when once the love of my life preferred to turn me into a slave like that.
