Chapter 26 - 26: Goblin King

Seeing the helpless girl on the stone altar made Darius' remember the raid day when the villagers were slain in front of his eyes.

Fueled with resentment and disappointed with his former self, his golden eyes sparkled amidst the darkness, flashing ferociously as he charged toward the Goblin King on the stone altar like a beast who hadn't eaten anything for years. He feels like incinerating the green and bald monster was not enough.

Enraged by the sudden offense, the Goblin King roared once again. A fierceful war cry to call its soldiers. Soon enough, hundreds of deep-green creatures flooded the chamber through a little door on the walls with a stone club brandished on their hands.

In a matter of seconds, Darius was already swarmed by them from all directions.

Mathilda's face loses its color upon seeing that. As she was about to unleash her devastating spell, Darius stunned the black witch lady with such a magnificent feat! Hence, Mathilda was reluctant to help him. She opted to spectate everything from above by riding her black scythe.

A playful smile painted on her beautiful face. "Fufu, let's see how far you can entertain me, my sweet boy."

'Stone Wall!' Darius said the incantation inside his mind.

Though the [Stone Wall] was a simple Intermediate Spell, it was very effective to deter an omnidirectional onslaught.

The small fry goblins were thrown to the air upon crashing onto the dozens feet tall magic wall.

'Aqua Vortex'

The wall was broken into pieces by the massive whirlpool that filled the whole place in a fraction of second, hundreds of goblins were pulled in by the tidal waves and met their doom in Darius' hands.

With his innate agility, Darius found it easy leaping from one goblin to another while pulling their heads with one hand like plucking flower petals.

The green, putrid and slimy blood battered the dungeon floor and was soon absorbed by the Dungeon along with the carcasses.

Upon which, Darius obtained a small amount of Arcane Cells from those goblins. It was possible since the Goblins were created by the Dungeon by using Arcane Energy.

Darius muttered as he made a quick hypothesis.

"Though the amount was small, these goblins had some Arcane Cells inside their brains. Perhaps, the Dungeon gave them some Arcane Cells to control its subjects through a certain communication magic?"

Regardless, nothing shall be answered if he just makes an empty guess based on limited knowledge.

Thus, with a focused mind, all he cared for was just to kill these goblins and save the helpless young girl.

He could have used his sword but tainting his father's inheritance with those greenish ugly creatures' blood left a bad taste in his mouth.

Thus, he casted the powerful wind force of [Gale Strike] swept the floor clean. Hundreds of goblin soldiers were annihilated in just a brief moment.

The Goblin King was flabbergasted upon seeing Darius' unfathomable mana. However, its innate instinct as a monster drove its mind to insanity. Although the Goblin King had no capability of wielding magic, its raw physical strength was on par with a Arcana Gathering Rank 1 Mage.

As for Darius who was only a Mortal Refining Body Rank 1 Mage, this Goblin King could kill him in one swing of its stone club!

Despite the odds, Darius undauntingly dashed forward, dodging every attack like riding the wind. His movement was so fast, it's near impossible to follow unless you were a martial expert.

With just a kick of his leg, Darius launched himself,  he grabbed the Goblins King's face firmly with one hand.

"Infernio." Darius says, coldly.

In that instance, the Goblin King's head was blown off, not even a trace of brain matter remained. Although Darius obtained a huge amount of Arcane Cells, he doesn't feel the excitement about this one-sided killing.

Mathilda, meanwhile, was stupefied by how Darius could master four spells in different elements consecutively. It was something that she had never seen before.

On average, Mages, even those who were born from the purest bloodline, could only master 2 elements at most. On the other hand, Darius could master four elementals as natural as breathing air.

''This kid… Did Arthur plant that crystal into Darius' chest when he was born? No, that's impossible, a baby would die in the process. Nevertheless, I must not get into his wrong side in order to uncover his secret.'

After a brief thought, Mathilda descended and landed on Darius' side. A charming and cunning smile plastered on her face.

"Oh my. What a mess. You should have done it more… elegantly my boy."

Darius shrugged and replied stoically, "There's no beauty in a battle. Only blood and death. Let's go check on the girl."

Mathilda couldn't help but to shake her head. She knew from the beginning that Darius was actually a cold-hearted kid given his origin lineage of a Lunarian. His charming and cheerful behavior was only a mask to blend himself in the society and now Darius had started to show his true color as a grown up person.

However, she was glad that Darius upheld the humanity within himself and didn't fall into insanity despite his capability to wield such power.

Before long, the two climbed the stone altar and found the helpless little girl who was chained on all limbs.

"H-help me." The faint and weak voice escaped her mouth.

Darius unsheathe his sword. "Stay still, I will break the chain."

As Darius was about to unchain the little girl, Mathilda noticed the broken horns on the girl's head. She promptly brandished her black scythe around the girl's neck after pulling Darius away.

"Mathilda?" Darius said, he stared at her sharply, asking why she'd do such things.

"You see those horns? She's from the demon race."

Darius resigned his intention to help the little girl upon seeing Mathilda's serious face.

The reason being why Mathilda was so cautious toward the little demoness was due to her personal experience in exterminating these human-like creatures.

The fact that the little demoness had broken horns could have two meanings; either she was unwanted and has no magic power, or she was too dangerous to keep her in the colony.

Mathilda wished for the latter but she couldn't let her guard down since the demon race was very cunning and heartless. In fact, demons had no soul like other beings in the Arcana Universe, they  only had a corporeal body as a shell of their bottomless greed for power and gluttony. They were no more than a bunch of beasts who had some brains.

"Let's go find her colony. They must be hiding somewhere inside the dungeon.

"If you say so, I will follow you this time. But how about this girl?"

Clank! Clank!

Mathilda sighed a long breath, she opted to break the chain with two simple strokes of her black scythe.

"She will lead us to her home."
