No matter how fast Leoric moved, he could only catch air. He helplessly watched her disappear into the water. He was stunned and could not comprehend why she chose to end her life. Did she not care about her parents anymore? Has he miscalculated?
"Stop the boat and turn on the searchlight!" he shouted as he quickly removed his suit and shoes, ready to jump into the water. "Where are the lifeguards?"
All the yacht's crew members were capable stewards who were expert swimmers, but unfortunately, no one was stationed on the lower deck then. Suddenly, a flurry of footsteps could be heard coming from the upper deck. The yacht immediately stopped, and the surrounding area was flooded with a bright white light.
Leoric wasted no time. He quickly gave his instructions and dove into the sea, swimming towards the spot where he believed Angel had fallen. Emily was angry when she saw he did not hesitate to jump into the water to save the woman.
Her mind raced. She couldn't allow the woman to win Leoric's sympathy. She wished for her to drown and ultimately die.
Without hesitation, Emily jumped into the sea. She intended to force Leoric to give up searching for that damned bitch and force him to save her.
"Emily!"
A chorus of shouts from the boat caused Leoric to turn his head.
Leoric's friends were dumbfounded that they were silent for a second.
"What are you waiting for? Go save her!" Alec regained his senses and ordered the lifeguards to rescue her.
"Damn, that girl! What was on her mind?" Alec cursed.
"Leo, help me!" Emily cried, flailing her arms and legs.
Leoric was scanning the water for any sign of Angel when he heard the shouts from the boat and Emily's frantic calls.
'Damn!' He cursed silently and swam toward her.
A lifebuoy ring was thrown near Emily, but she disregarded it and waited for Leoric to come to her. She was a good swimmer, but she did not want Leoric to waste his time on that bitch.
When the two lifeguards saw that a man was already saving the stupid girl who jumped, they focused on looking for the other girl.
One of the lifeguards pursed his lips in frustration. He had fought with his brother to come on this trip, hoping for good food, wine, and a chance to relax. However, it was his bad luck that an incident occurred while he was on duty. On the night of the wedding, a new bride had committed suicide. This left him with many questions: Was the bride forced into the marriage? Why would she take such a drastic step on her wedding night?
If Leoric knew what was on the mind of the lifeguard, he would strangle him to death.
Angel has stayed underwater for quite some time. She struggled to see underwater in the dark. She ran out of oxygen and had no choice but to swim up to breathe.
Emerging from the water, she heard Emily's cries in the distance. She could see her husband's silhouette as he swam gracefully towards Emily.
She noticed three other men in the water who were far from her. When they saw her, they swam toward her.
An orange lifebuoy was thrown toward her, and she heard shouts from the yacht urging her to hold onto it.
Angel took a deep breath before submerging herself in the water. The people on the deck, as well as the three men who had tried to save her, were shocked. Leoric, who had helped Emily to the lifebuoy, had a grim expression when he saw Angel disappear into the water.
Emily felt a gloomy aura surrounding her, causing her to shiver. Leoric held both of her hands and placed them on the orange ring.
"Pull her in," he shouted impatiently to the boat.
Leoric was preparing to swim away when Emily suddenly released the lifebuoy and grabbed Leoric's neck. Leoric was caught off guard and nearly choked by Emily's grip. They both sank underwater, and Leoric put a great deal of effort into bringing them back to the surface.
"If you want both of us to drown, then continue to choke me," Leoric said angrily.
Emily returned to her senses and released Leoric, apologizing as she let go of him. She calculated the time and quickly grabbed the lifebuoy, thinking to herself, "That woman should have drowned by now."
"Pull her in and watch over her," Leoric shouted to no one in particular, but Alec knew he was talking to him. He sighed and obediently tugged at the rope until the life bouy was within their reach.
Leoric swam to the spot where he had last seen Angel surface. The three other men had already come up a few times to replenish their oxygen, but Angel had not surfaced since that one time.
His heart sank. 'Has she drowned?'
While underwater, Angel's eyes started to sting, and she found it increasingly difficult to keep them open. She was about to give up hope of finding Tala when suddenly, a few meters below the surface, she saw her. The woman was illuminated by a strange bluish light, which acted as a guide for Angel. Thanks to this light, Angel finally found her.
Angel moved her arms and legs and propelled herself to where Tala was. She stopped drifting downwards but seemed to be suspended as the blue light that came from her body made her appear even more ethereal.
Perhaps it was an illusion, but the color of her hair turned into silver, hypnotizing Angel as the strands danced gracefully with the undercurrent. Her long white dress fluttered as if blown by a gentle breeze.
Angel grasped her hand to pull her up toward the surface. Just as her skin touched hers, Tala's almond-shaped eyes opened.
Angel's gaze was drawn into a pair of golden eyes that seemed to pierce through her. Under that gaze, Angel felt that her soul was laid bare.
Tala stretched out her two hands and grasped Angel's. They looked at each other eye to eye, hands tightly clasped. She moved her lips and said a few words to Angel. There was no voice, but Angel did not need the voice to hear her loud and clear.
Angel found it hard to breathe. She needed air, and she needed to go to the surface, but the words that Tala spoke to her rendered her immobile. She did not hear any sound, but every word entered her consciousness, causing her great shock that the air in her lungs seemed to be sucked out.
Tala smiled, and her face became radiant as the sun, temporarily blinding Angel. She closed her eyes, and at that moment, Tala's body started dissipating into hundreds of motes of light surrounding Angel before they got sucked into her body.
When Angel opened her eyes, she felt a strange sensation in her body. She did not have time to think about it because she realized that Tala was gone and she panicked.
She felt her lungs about to burst, and she was losing consciousness. Before she succumbed to darkness, she felt a strong hand grasping hers.
