Kyla gazed up at the night sky, searching for answers amongst the stars. He always felt a deep connection when looking into the vast cosmos, a sense that Earth was just a small part of a much grander existence.
He traced his fingers over an old leatherbound book in his lap, one passed down in his family for generations. It contained ancient secrets - prophecies and premonitions of contact with life from distant worlds. Many dismissed the warnings as fantasy, but Kyla knew there were truths encoded there that the world was not yet ready to comprehend.
A bright flash suddenly sparked in the darkness, an object hurtling through the atmosphere surrounded by a fiery glow. Kyla's pulse quickened. Could this be a sign of the interstellar arrival the book foretold? He watched closely as the shape spiraled closer, expecting some kind of alien craft. But as it slowed he realized it was nothing more than a common meteor, likely no bigger than a fist.
Kyla sighed, feeling foolish for getting his hopes up. Still, a sense of unease stirred inside him. The flashing meteor seemed almost like an omen, sent as a herald for dangers to come. He decided to consult the old book once more for guidance. Inside he found not prophecy, but a simple message etched onto the final page:
"There are more things in heaven and earth, Kyla, than are dreamt of in your philosophy. Chaos comes uninvited. Keep watch for falling stars, and guard against the tempest they may bring."
Just then a sonic boom thundered overhead, almost like an explosion in the sky. Kyla looked up to see a glowing object streaking far above. Larger and brighter than any meteor he'd ever seen, it hurled headlong at unbelievable speed, tearing a flaming trail through the night.
Kyla's mouth fell open as realization dawned on him. Though it had been many generations since their last arrival, he now knew without doubt what was in front of his eyes.
