Knox quickly gathered his travel bag and took everything he could put inside. His head was running many scenarios about why Azrael asked him to work for him. Maybe he remembered him and he wanted to torture him for hitting his head with the tiger headpiece?
What about the 'omega bloom' they were talking about? He wasn't releasing a bloom when that happened! It was a public place, so he certainly made sure not to release…
Knox stiffened after remembering that he, indeed, released pheromones that time. He did it to release the pent-up pheromones in his body.
"Oh, f*ck."
But he was sure it wasn't a bloom!
He continued packing his things up. Only to freeze the second time. He just remembered he signed a contract and received advanced payment which he had used up already! How can he think of running away now?!
His boss looks like someone who won't let anyone who crossed him!
Knox shuddered upon recalling those sharp glaring eyes. He wearily slumped on the floor and kicked the bag away. He pulled his hair in frustration.
He talked to himself, 'No, let's think properly, Knox. That man doesn't seem to know that he was that omega yet. Let's try to make excuses, and beg to have the contract terminated. But if I do that, I have to return the payment and pay for the breach of contract…but, I'm broke!'
If he borrowed money, then he might be able to pay but that would mean another debt on his shoulders. But would it be better to drown in debt than be involved with a dangerous man? He recalled Franz telling him about some men looking like thugs or gangsters asking around about the tiger mascot he used.
If those people were working for Azrael, then he really couldn't stay with him. And he just found out that it was because of his pheromones that his boss was suffering from an unstable pheromone condition.
There's really no other way but to run away.
'But let's try begging first. I still want to live a peaceful life. Another thug on my tail will only stress me out more.'
Knox nodded to himself, and then he whispered, "I should do it very discreetly."
For now, he's going to take his medicine, and then, slowly, he'd take out his belongings one by one. He can't afford to leave them all, as he lacks money to buy another.
"What took you so long?"
Knox flinched slightly from the impatient voice of his boss. He smiled innocently and answered, "I had a hard time finding where I put this pouch. Anyway, please just inform me of when I should go back. I'm leaving now."
The doorbell rang. Since he was on his way to the door, he quickly opened it to ask who it was. However, a tall woman with sharp features and long copper-colored hair greeted Knox with a haughty look. She raised her eyebrow and asked, "Who are you? Why are you in my fiancé's unit?"
Knox froze. His grip on the doorknob tightened.
'Fiancé?' He muttered inside his head as a speck of fury was starting to rise inside him. How dare his boss kiss another person when he already has a fiancée?!
The woman glared at him impatiently and released a threatening scent. Knox shuddered. He confirmed the woman was an alpha. Then, he recalled how repulsed his boss is towards omegas, and betas aren't his type. So, of course, he can only date alphas, but whether it was the woman in front of him or the doctor behind him was the one warming his bed tonight, it shouldn't matter to Knox.
He quickly lowered his head and covered his nose. The scent was filled with hostility that it was making him more nauseous. He should leave right away. What's making him hesitate?
"Now, don't be so scary, Diva. He's a servant and a beta."
Knox flinched when someone patted him. It was the doctor.
If Kayden hadn't interfered and held Knox on the shoulders, his endurance might have given up and he could have fainted. He gave Kayden a grateful look before he excused himself and ran out of the woman's way.
Any longer time spent with those alphas will surely make him lose his reins. He dialed Franz's number and asked if he could stay in his apartment for a few days, when he got the okay, he wasted no time and headed there.
Meanwhile, the three alphas left in that expensive apartment unit settled in an awkward silence. Diva, who was the second daughter of the founder and president of Idol Entertainment; a famous female alpha model; and Azrael's fiancée still stood in the doorway with her arms folded on her chest.
She glared at Azrael and asked menacingly, "A mere servant, and a beta, yet filled with your pheromones? If I wasn't told he was a beta, I might have thought he's an omega with your marking. I don't buy that 'he's just a servant' excuse. Who is he? Is he your sex slave?"
The doctor coughed a few times out of disbelief and astonishment. He gave Azrael a judgmental look which earned a snarl from him.
Azrael flung his arm on the backrest of the sofa, and yelled defensively, "I don't buy slaves! Besides, I don't think that's any of your business."
Diva stomped forward and shouted back, "What?! It's not my business?! We're engaged! We might not be in 'that' kind of relationship, but we have an agreement! On top of that, I'm a public figure, if news gets out that I'm dating someone who owns slaves, it might ruin my reputation!"
Azrael nose fumed in rage, "Is that why you're interfering with my business? You do know about my condition, and what I always do to keep myself stable, and yet you're always getting in the way! If you don't want me f*cking anyone, then why not just help me yourself?!"
Slap!
Kayden gawked at the unfolding events. He stood in the doorway and couldn't get the right timing to get his things on the center table and leave. So, he pretended wearing his 3D glasses and munching on his invisible popcorn while leaning on the door.
Diva gasped. She seemed to realize what she had done so she frantically looked around while saying, "Oh my god! Do you have alcohol or hand sanitizer!? What if I got infected by this philanderer's disability and rotten head? I need a sanitizer! Kayden! Do you have any?!"
Azrael's face changed. He clicked his tongue and raised his hand. Diva raised her arms and took a stance, ready to block and throw punches. However, Azrael's hand landed on her nape, grabbing her back collar and turning her around forcefully, before kicking her off to Kayden.
"Get lost if you're not helping!"
Diva harrumphed and said, "I'll leave even if you don't tell me to! I only came here because you called, of all people, my best friend! I know you're aware that she likes you, so don't take advantage of her feelings and use her just to relieve those pent-up pheromones you had! At least, have decency! That's my best friend, don't ever call her again. Find someone to blow you instead, and do it discreetly."
The door slammed shut it almost shook the building. Kayden shrugged his shoulders as he made his way to the table and picked up his things, then he gave his cousin a skeptical look.
"You called your fiancée's best friend to open her legs for you and you don't even look regretful? My god, you deserve to be slapped, indeed."
Azrael glared at his cousin, "She's the one who insisted on warming my bed. What's wrong with taking for granted what's willingly coming to you? Anyway, I do not need your nagging. Get lost."
"You're still unstable. Take your medicine and—
"I'm calling someone different, so leave right now."
Kayden just shook his head and mumbled, "I'm surprised no one hasn't knocked on your door demanding child support."
Before he closed the door behind him, he heard Azrael answered arrogantly, "I'm no fool."
Kayden shivered out of nowhere.
