Chapter 16 - MARRIAGE PROPOSAL 1

PRESENT TIME

The sun ray passing through the curtain was caressing Eva's face sleeping on the sofa. The man came out of the bed room. His short blonde hair messy as if he just woke up but was fully dressed. The fresh scent of his cologne soon enveloped the whole room. He walked in the living room with light steps and to his surprise Eva was still sleeping.

It was already seven, and for some who hate to be late, it was a catastrophe. The sight sadden him. Yesterday had really took a whole on her.

"Wake up love. The sun is already up," he said in a low voice.

Yesterday he lost the battle of whom would sleep on the sofa and Eva won. To his dislike, he had to let her sleep on the sofa, which he knew was uncomfortable.

"Why?" she cried burring her face further in the sofa.

"Because you have a busy schedule and have to eat something before the battle start."

"I don't want too!" she growled refusing to wake up.

He sighed and watched helpless the grown woman who was acting like a kid. She had the bed sheet covering her from head to toes and was forming a ball. He breathed out before jerking the bedsheet off her body,

"Stop acting like child now and go fresh up," he ordered with a deep voice. Waking Eva up.

"I was planning for us to have a French breakfast. I know of a superb restaurant here who do it to the perfection. You can even wear a beret if you want to get in the vibe," He threw the bed sheet on a one person sofa by the side.

"No thanks." She said sitting up on the sofa.

No sign of fatigue could be seen on her face. She didn't look like some who has just been wake up. And the truth was, she wasn't. She was awake half an hour ago but had no will to get up. She wished she could lazy around but sadly, she couldn't.

"I didn't even have one even if I wanted to,"

And most importantly, she didn't feel like eating but she couldn't tell him that. If she does, it would end up with him making her eat even more. She already passed through that and had no wish to go through it again. She would just force herself to eat something.

"We can still buy one. A red one, it will be beautiful on you. Red is your color,"

"You repeated that a thousand of time," Eva pointed out.

"And yet you are fix on dark color who don't suit you the best. At Klaus party didn't you see all the head turn wild with you wearing the dress I practically begged for you to buy? You were beautiful,"

'Not as beautiful like Elsa,' she thought but didn't dare to say it loud. He hates it went she always found it necessary to compare herself with Elsa. Even she was annoyed by that fact but she couldn't help it. She has being brought up in a way that always pushed her to compare herself with her little sister.

"If you say so," she said and went to the bed room. She came out thirty minute later fully dressed and ready for the day.

"Here!" he exclaimed when she came to his view. He was at the kitchen, making coffee for both of them.

"There is the Eva I know." he gave her a mug of coffee. She looked better than yesterday. Her tired face was gone.

"Thanks." she toke it. She placed her hand bag on the kitchen counter top.

"What are you plan for the day?" she asked.

"I have a meeting with someone interested in my painting. There is a possibility of some of them to be among those he will expose soon. After that I will lazy around for the rest of the day," Noah said.

"Shouldn't you be supposed to paint for that exposition if you come to an agreement?"

"Normally but I have no inspiration or motivation or desire to grab a brush," he sighed knowing himself how much it as wrong.

"Like always. I wonder went you actually get some work done," she shook her head with a smile.

"I wish I was so free I could lie around with you doing nothing all day but my schedule is so tight, I doubt I will have time to even have lunch," she cried out.

She should really consider taking some day off. At this rate, she would be burned out soon.

"When are you heading back?"

"I was thinking of tomorrow night so that in the day I could spent some time with you. I miss you," she confessed.

They were together two day ago but still, she wanted to be with him. The last night was so agitating for her heart. All she wanted was some peace and he always brought her peace.

"Good. I have no plan for tomorrow, I will be all yours,"

"As always," they laughed and drank their coffee in a comfortable silence.

My little pony sound track broke the silence. He raised his eyebrow hearing the particular song playing,

"Still that ringtone?" he questioned in wonder. He hoped after all his sermons he was able to have her grow up a little bit but it appeared not to be the case.

"What? I like it," she said putting her mug on the counter top to retrieve her phone from the bag. Seeing the caller, she sighed and put it on the counter top. She has no will to answer that call.

"Who is it?" he asked

"My father," She knew it was either her mother or father given the ringtone but seeing her father name makes her not wanting to answer it. It wasn't a happy call, she could tell as much.

At her respond, he immediately took her phone and answered before the end of the call.

"What were you doing!?" her father shouted.

"Good morning to you," Noah said, the phone a distance away from his ears. He putted the phone on loud speaker so that Eva could hear the conversation.

Her father took a moment before speaking again.

"Who are you and what are you answering my daughter phone? Where is she?"

"My love is here but her hands are busy, I'm helping her by answering," her father paused again before saying with doubt,

"Noah?"

"Himself!"

"Young man give the phone to my daughter, I have something to tell her,"

"Speak she can hear you,"

"I said give her the phone,"

"Speak now or I tell him to end the call," Eva said irritated by her father. He never loved Noah and it seem his feeling has never change but at least she demanded the minimum respect for her friend.

"It's not a way to talk to your father. Where is your respect?"

"Respect are being earned. I respect you way too much by simply calling you 'father', father," he has been everything but a father to her.

"Are you talking or not?" she asked.

They heard him breathe out heavily at the other end before words left his mouth, "you have to be at home tomorrow for lunch. They Briar will be our guest and your presence is requested," he informed.

No one said anything for a moment, "Have you heard me?" he asked, getting nothing but silence from the other end.

"She has," Noah answered instead.

Eva was taking her time to proceed what has just been said. Not sure on how to take it.

"I'm talking to my daughter, not to you. Why isn't she replying?"

"We are busy in very sweaty energy demanding activity and she is trying her best to not make you uncomfortable but if you absolutely want to hear it," Noah said to the Farewells confusion.

Eva's eyes widen at Noah words as she eyed him in wonder. The latter hade a foolish smile on.

"uhm, yeah" Eva went with his lie, Noah cover his laugh hearing her fake moan "I'm in another country, I can't be there," she said with a struggling voice.

"Will Elsa be present?" she asked.

"Yes,"

"Then why should I be there?" what was going on that required both of their presence?

"Do as you want but don't say later you haven't be informed. Keep on playing around with that low level man good for nothing. I must say you complement each other. The same person,"

"I pardon to contradict you but we are good at something," he paused, "we are- so good, you are so tight baby. So good, uhm" he growled. Her father immediately hung up. They fall into an uproar.

"You are crazy," she shook her head.

"Crazier is the person who followed knowing I'm crazy," he defended.

"Fact," she agreed, "how I want to see his face at the moment," she added.

"I can't wait for the next time I see him. He shouldn't have called us useless. Who is he to say that?"

"Nathan farewell. A skillful and shrewd businessman with thousands of companies over the globe. Should I continue?" she asked.

"It's okay I get it. He is someone but still it give him no right," Eva nodded in agreement.

Being successful give no right to belittle other who doesn't have the same level of success like you have. It was the way her father was, she was already accustom and doesn't take it anymore in heart but she hates it when he threw it on her friends.

"What disturbs me though is what that meeting is about. The only possibility I see is a,"

"Marriage proposal," they both said.

"Yeah but why is your presence necessary though? I know he want Klaus to be with Elsa so if it indeed a marriage proposal why asking for you to come?"

"I think I know why but you can be sure I won't let that happen. I won't let Elsa marry Briar, never!"

"Why?"

She shot him a glare, "you know why, plus she already have everything. Let me play a bit in her fate and for once not let her have what she wants. What they want,"

"I know you will do everything you can so it doesn't happen because if they do get married you will…" she slapped his arms before he could finish. She already knew, he doesn't have to remind her.

"Our plan of having a day off together has been jeopardize," Noah said.

"You always have day off. But true, I have to get back and get all this clear. What a waste. My family have the gift to ruin everything that can makes me happy," she frowned.

"Here," he rubbed the frown on her face, "no need to be frustrated. Not when I am inviting you for breakfast which I plan to pay for," he precise.

"You are right. It's not every day a stingy person like you offer me something," she said.

"We artist don't get that much money and not went you are like me, no famous at all. And I do give you things. Remember the painting I gave you for your birthday. It took me about 75 hours to have that finish," it as a hyper realistic painting of her on a huge canvas. She had it place on the wall in her bed room.

"I know and I will always cherish it. And if you are that short of money you should just go to your father,"

Noah was the only son of a wealthy family. He could have all he wanted and even more if he stopped being stubborn and go back to his family.

"And abandon my dream and end all sad in an office like you? No thanks," he shook his head and made an X with his hands.

"Better than starving though." she giggled.

"I'm not starving,"

"If you say so," she putted the empty mug in the sink having finish her coffee and grabbed her hand bag.

"As my friend shouldn't you be supporting me? With friends like you, who needs enemies?"

"I do support you. I'm your number one fan! I'm just showing the other side of the coin, to show you your opinions," She followed behind him as he made his way to the front door.

"I'm okay with this side for the moment. I still got a year to proof myself to my father. And if I don't succeed then I will join the club of the unhappy in their profession,"

The deadline given by his father was due in a year. After that, if he didn't make a name for himself in the artist world, he would go back in the family business.

"Not everyone is unhappy. I'm happy with mine," She protested. Sure, sometime it was tiring to the point she want to stay in bed but overall, she loved her job. How not when it brings so much joy to people they come in aide.

"Say the girl who cry before getting out of bed," He knew what he was talking about since he had assist at a live action performance.

"But as soon I get out I'm all build for the day,"

"If you say so," he said opening the door.

"I'm telling the true," she waited for him to close the door. The walk away will continuing their argument. The meeting in the back of their mind.
