Two men were sitting on the chair opposite to hers, Klaus and Zach. The presence of Zach surprised her. She thought it was Klaus alone.
She gave them a polite smile as the turn to the sound of the door been open and stood up. She closed the door behind her and walk to her desk. Her stilettos hitting onto the marble floor.
"The president and the vice president of BRIGHT enterprise in my office. If not of certain things, I would have being honor," she said putting her bag on her table. She sat down on her seat, legs crossed, back straight. Her eyes focused on them with a robotic smile on her face.
They followed her and took back their previous seats.
After graduating from college, Zach decide to follow Klaus instead of working for his own family company. A decision Eva has never being able to find an explanation for. Growing up, it has always be his dream to take over his father. When she got the news of him retracting himself from the race to be the ceo she was shocked. Years later, he was the vice president of another company.
"I'm here as Zach, not as the vice president," Zach explained.
He held a serious expression on, nothing like the smile he harbour almost all through yesterday night. A different vibe was emanating from him, one which demand respect. The new side of him was a surprise to Eva who only knew the carefree Zachariah.
Ever nodded and shift her eyes onto Klaus,
"And you?" she asked him.
"Both," came his short reply. She nodded.
"For someone who spoke all day of waning to become a teacher, you took quite a turn," Zach said. A glimpse of the Zach Eva knows appeared with the little smile he gave her.
Although she appreciated, Eva frown a little at his decision to start a discussion irrelevant of their presence they. All she wanted was to have the work done and have them leave at soon as possible. His attempt to soft the thick tension reigning in the room wasn't welcome by her but she decided to get along with him for this once. She sent a quick look on Klaus who appeared uninterested in their conversation. He was too busy looking around.
"Judging" Eva thought.
It was nothing of the spacious luxurious type of office they were used too. Hers was small with a minimalist decoration. The furniture was kept simple and had no high brand designed items.
"I soon discover I had no skill what so ever in teaching so I deviated to my next passion," coming in help of other, relieving others pain.
As long as she could remember, she always tried to make people around her feel good. Even though it came with her misery at some point. It was years after she realise how much she gave out for nothing.
Zack nodded in agreement. The Eva he knew was always helping others, so her choice of career wasn't surprising.
"You being passionate about helping others? I kind of doubting that," Klaus said.
"I have a profound despicable feeling for your person so it's normal you think as such,"
"What about Michelle Steven?" his question came as a surprise to her. She heard the name she thought was long forgotten. Her face didn't let transpire her shock though. She wasn't the only be shock. Klaus calling that name in front of Eva never crossed Zach mind.
"I have no idea of what you are talking about," her confused face made the perfect illusion matching her words.
"Is it the reason of your presence here? Because if so I have better thing to do than to hear whatever stupidity you came up with," she leaned further in her chair with ease. Her beating heart was a contrast to her cool and unbothered stand.
"Of course not," he answered. He decided to let it go. His aim was to watch her reactions at the sound of the name. Eva reaction was confusing, he didn't know what to conclude from it.
"I came for a donation. The BRIGHT Enterprise and I are planning to give in some contribution for you on coming charity event," Klaus explained.
"Never knew you were generous," Eva said.
"You know nothing about me so it not surprising"
"Don't you know that your enemies knows you more than your friends?" she commented while going through her desk drawer to find the necessary document for them to be settle as contributor or partners of the event. Finding it, she put it on the table and open it.
"And you?" she questioned Zach.
"Same," she nodded.
"So do you guy want to be partner or contributor?" she asked. Noticing their confused face, she sighed loudly before explaining.
"Being partner means you engage yourself to fund the other oncoming event while contributors is just for this specific one," she said.
"The BRIGHT Enterprise and myself aim for the partner contract," Klaus said.
His words surprised her but she didn't dwell on it and gave him the necessary document for the partner to fill. She turned to Zach.
"Contributor," she gave him file specific to contributors.
As they filled in she explain them further before they could sign, "You can end the partnership at any time you want but not in an oncoming event. It has to be done by the end of an event. And as a contributor you can become a partner anytime you want or can stay a contributor," she explained them detail they should know before they sign.
"It was a pleasure to have you" she said taking the signed papers in their hands. She called Abigail who came and took the documents.
Now they could leave her office but they didn't move. She eyed them. Silently asking why they weren't moving.
"Pardon me but I have another meeting," which she didn't.
"Of course," Zach stood up getting the hint.
"I just thought," Klaus started still in his seat.
"You are now twenty seven, no man in your live? Aside Noah?"
"Why are you interested in my personal life? Perhaps you may like me more than you say"
"Don't get ahead of yourself. They are too many beautiful ladies to have me set my eyes on you,"
"Like my sister?"
"She is indeed beautiful but I was speaking more of the personality. Which man would want to be attach to you," he said finally getting up.
"You are right. No man wants me," her words came as surprise to the men.
"You successfully hurt me Briar. Hope you are happy," she said with a sad face.
She almost got him in believing her words, almost if he didn't know her so well.
"You almost made me sadden me,"
"As you." She open the door for them. They went out without any further words. She closed the door behind them and fall back on her seat pensive. Klaus question about Michelle made her unease.
