"The b-boss?" When Lana asked, images of the man who refrained from trying to shoot her raced through her mind. After leaving the room without receiving a response from Jane, she let the ladies chase after her.
They proceeded down the stairs and through the spacious halls until they reached a larger hallway that was adorned with statues, artwork, and gold decorations.
"Woah!" she said, attempting to resist the urge to remain still and stare at these objects. When they eventually arrived at a big golden door, they heard Jane knock and waited for her to answer.
Their bodies tingled at the deep, husky voice that said, "Come in." Lana's body began to tremble; she was unaware that her anxiety was increasing.
"Master, I have brought them." Jane stated it with humility. The two girls lowered their heads to the floor, recalling what Jane had said earlier.
"You can leave," he remarked to Jane. Without saying anything, she gave a small bow before walking away. Gwen was trembling uncontrollably because she was afraid.
Lana's breathing started to slow as well, but she grasped Gwen's hand despite her own fear. Axel fixed his gaze on them, observing their body language. As they ought to, they were terrified of him.
His thoughts were focused on the brunette girl with gray eyes, and he didn't give a damn about the blonde. "Knowing I spared your pathetic lives earlier, and I don't want what you did to repeat itself, am I understood?" questioned the man.
The ladies spoke in unison, "Yes, master."
Lana found his deep voice endearing, especially as she felt his intense stare right through her.
"And never be caught using a phone or any other device to place a call. I won't think twice about murdering you if I see you and am notified." He continued observing the ladies. as they faced the ground.
Lana's concerns were with her parents. She wanted Hilda to be as worry-free as possible about her. She wanted to say something, but she held back since she was aware of his menacing vibe.
"Your names," he murmured, sounding more bored than anything else. "My name is Gwendolyn Benson." Gwen spoke, sounding as though she might cry at any moment.
Clasping her necklace, Lana said, "My name is Lana Monterio."
She stared at the floor, and he observed her. He didn't enjoy the slight impact she was having on him. Her hands were still playing with the necklace on her neck.
"What position was given to you, Gwendolyn?" He looked from Lana to Gwen and asked.
"I am being assigned to be a kitchen maid in the aspect of cleaning." She stumbled, still shaky with terror.
He questioned coldly, "What about you, Lana?" which made the girls shudder. Lana looked up at him, and he had no facial covering at this particular time.
When she saw him, she gasped. Although she could not recall where she had seen him, she knew she had seen his face before. His dark eyes were emotionless, and he was really beautiful.
His jawline was so sharp it could have cut through glass, and his dark hair fell over his shoulders, veiling part of his face.
He was devilishly attractive, with his pink lips twisted in irritation and his long, curly lashes, which made Lana a little envious of a man to have.
"I thought I asked a question: would you rather have your eyes removed or keep them intact?" He asked sharply, causing Lana to quicken her attention to the ground.
"I was assigned to clean one of the rooms on a daily basis." She bit her lower lip as she stammered.
"You will be cleaning my bathroom and my room going forward, Lana." Lana's eyes widened. Gwen shot her a pitying glance as she turned to face her. She tried not to stare at him, but she was unable to. She believed she could tidy other rooms, and he had someone else tidy his own.
"Do I make myself clear?" While observing her expression, he asked.
"Yes, master," she replied, fighting the urge to cry. She essentially became a maid at the home of a man who murdered her family and replaced her as his maid.
"And tomorrow morning, you get started. Leave!" he exclaimed as the girls bolted from his bedroom. Lana was crying, and Gwen saw that.
In the same way that she had shown her sympathy, she also did the same.
"It won't be so bad; besides, I'll be working with other maids who earlier gave us an irritated look. However, you'll work by yourself." At that, Lana started crying even more.
"If I said something offensive, I really apologize. Do not cry, please." Gwen saw that the girl who had checked on her was crying at the moment and patted her shoulder.
"I can never be happy, Gwen; you don't get it. I shall always suffer, and I will always suffer." Gwen, unsure of what to say next, grabbed her into a bear embrace when she said that.
"Don't say that, Lana; I apologize. Or would you like to discuss it?" She asked, but Lana was unable to respond. Ignoring the maids they encountered, they headed for their room. Gwen forced her to sit on the bed that she had chosen.
"I was just a cute little child living the carefree life that all little children should." My family were murdered in front of me, and all of a sudden, I was taken away." Gwen gasped in disbelief when she sniffled.
"Oh my! I am so sorry Lana, I didn't." She hesitated, uncertain about what to say.
"Despite spending seven years living with them as their maid, I escaped with the help of my aunt. I was adopted into a new family, and they made me happy, which allowed me to let go of my painful past. However, I'm back to that now."
Gwen took a seat next to Lana and gave her the hug that she needed right then. "I was sold." When Gwen did finally speak, Lana gave her a startled look.
"You were what?" Gwen scrubbed her face quickly, tears flowing down her face, not believing what she had just heard.
"My parents were alcoholics and drug addicts. They spent their savings on alcohol and drugs, as you know. They borrow money from people and take out bank loans. The day I returned from work, I noticed a few guys in my home. Mom informed me that I now belonged to them and that I would be leaving without any good cause."
"I tried battling them, pleading with my mother that perhaps she was high."
When I saw proof in one of the men's phones that the money had been sent to their bank account, I knew I was being fooled. I hate my parents."
After hastily wiping away her tears, Lana gave Gwen a hug. For their wounded hearts, they both needed an embrace.
"Oh my goodness, that is awful! How could parents treat their own child in such a way?" Lana reflected deeply. The two young women were conversing about the best part of their past and would not leave their room.
Their preferences as well as a standard girl's chat about the kind of man they found admirable.
Dinner was served in the servant's quarters as the evening grew closer. As Lana and Gwen arrived in the hall, they saw that everyone was seated.
They came across an empty table and moved over to sit at it.
The way they were staring at them made them both feel uneasy. After serving their meal, they went to the table they had located.
They all went back to their rooms after the supper. Conversely, Axel was perplexed as to why he had chosen her to tidy his room. He didn't care that his body was still drenched in water.
Taking out a cigarette, he lit it and put it in his mouth. He took it out and exhaled smoke. after smoking it until it shrank. He kicked it onto the ground and trod on it.
He put on his nightwear. He had a scheduled appointment for tomorrow.
"Lana, wake up!" She was sleeping soundly, clinging to her pillow, when Gwen tapped her.
"its 6 AM." She repeated again, causing Lana to scowl as she kept her eyes half open and gazed into her honey-colored eyes.
"Is this not too early? I mean, 6 a.m. I'd like to go to bed." She put on a little smile and yawned while shutting her eyes. Gwen wiped her forehead and considered how to get Lana to wake up in order to avoid regretting it later.
"Recall what Jane informed us. We need to make sure everything is ready by 6:30. Now that I've had my bath, I suppose it's your time." She talked more in close proximity to her ear. All Lana could do was open her eyes.
Giving up, she stretched her body when she woke up. When she entered the bathroom, she discovered two toothpastes and two brushes. She figured Gwen owned the used brush.
She took a brief bath and cleaned her teeth. She remained angry at having to get up so early. She usually wakes up between 7:30 and 8 a.m.
She styled her hair into a high ponytail and donned the old maid costume that Jane had given them. "let's go before we get into trouble." As she led them to the dining hall, where they were meant to be, Gwen chatted while holding their hands.
They waited for their meal to be brought from the kitchen in the servant quarters for twenty minutes. They quickly stopped when they heard a girl screaming.
"Please, I am sorry. I am sorry!"
