It was a cold day when Lord Talons came back from his business, his face almost tearing from a grin so wide that it confounded his daughter, Bren Talons. The girl jerked from the book she was reading, quickly hiding it behind her.
Yet again, her father had entered her dwellings without so much as a knock to announce his presence.
The man saw the action though, and immediately frowned.
"Do not tell me you've been mingling with that good for nothing boy!" He screamed.
Bren had half the mind to correct his father that the boy in question was now a man. Not just any man, but one so dashingly handsome and shrewd she would have blushed whenever she saw him if not for the fact that her interests laid elsewhere.
But she had a feeling that Lord Talons would mind such apt description of Zephyr Thorne, so she kept her mouth shut, resorting to a half-hearted shrug.
"I do not know what you speak of." She simply said.
