Standing in front of the statue of the serpent, Neriah wondered if her letter reached Lyle or not. It was just the second night she would wait near the statue and yet she was uneasy. What if her letter never reached Lyle? Or what if he saw the letter and didn't believe it? She tried to make it as believable as possible. To tell a good lie, a little truth was needed so she had added in a little of the truth.
But the fact that he was not coming was bothering her terribly. Neriah stared at the statue of the serpent, then she looked around her. For a place that was known as the village of thieves, Bampo was more peaceful than Neriah had expected. In fact nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Everything seemed normal. There were children running around, women and men selling their goods peacefully, even pets were quietly sitting beside their owners. Apart from the fact that the streets were not as lit as the streets of the capital or of fortia, Bampo was a normal place.
