°System Note: Identification – to lighten your burden, my power will automatically create base identifications for the world. But be careful – for they are just basic identifications!
Lien nodded in understanding and opened the small file. Inside, he found two papers. One was a bill some things he bought, barely able to identify he origin of his storage, and the other was a city pass, which confused Lien even more.
The 'origin' of goods would only be helpful for him if he was asked for it, but from the outside and the way his room was looking like, he felt more likely that the world was in the older ages that the one he came from, meaning that none would ask for that. The city pass seemed to be the only thing that had value. But it was written on it that it was an entry pass.
Lien understood why the system said it was a basic identification. The pass was to let him enter, and the bill was to show that his goods were trustworthy, allowing him to sell them in cities. Any merchant, especially wandering ones, needed a good reputation to have customers buy from them, or their goods would be treated as trash and could only be sold for the lowest prices.
Although Lien knew that these so-called identifications would barely help him, it was still better than nothing, so he nodded to the air, saying 'thank you' quietly. Then, he turned and looked at the door, the only thing he didn't approach yet. He could look out the window and see deeper and make some guesses, but he was too excited to do so. So, he went and opened the door that was left to the window table, being fairly close.
Opening it, he stepped outside and breathed the fresh air once again. It smelled like earth usually did, just that it was slightly more humid, so he could smell fresh grass. It seemed that it was already in the peak of spring, which meant that trade would be flowing all around the area soon.
He went down the two steps and then had to jump, for he came to see, he was not on base ground. From the window he could already see that, but he was actually in his carriage! Not a house or maybe even a hut in the woods, no, it was his own carriage he had just 'designed' prior.
Lien stepped outside and looked closely at his carriage, making him smile. As he looked at it, he suddenly heard the sounds of horses.
"Neighhh"
Several horses made sounds one after another as they saw that someone came out of the carriage. In total, there were six horses, and all of them were bound to a few trees. They were eating the grass around it just before Lien came out.
Lien looked at them and was happy to see his favorite horse kind once again – the Shire horse. They were tall and large, majestic if one had to say. They looked like giants that could trample all over him, but all of them looked fairly happy, from the way Lien perceived it.
'Ahh, they can feel that I am their owner. The way they look at me, that's just like how a pony looks at their mother. Innocent and cute, asking to be cared for.' Lien went back inside the carriage and to the window table, pulling the single drawer attached to it.
He had seen a bit of the inside previously, but now that he opened it, he saw what was truly inside. There, he could find a few things that were used to care for horses: two combs and two brushes. A curry comb used to comb away the dirt on the horse's coat. A mane and tail comb, as the name suggests, one used for the mane and tail.
The he had a body brush, used to brush the whole-body fur clean, and a soft brush, used for the face and legs. As he looked at them, he felt slightly worried, for a horse needed more than just a few combs and brushes to be fully cared for. Then, a new system note came.
°System Note: As the Shire Horses are given by the system, they can be treated and cared for, in exchange for currency points. The brushes and combs are to deepen the relationship between the horses and the caravan head.
Directly after that, another system note appeared, as System Panel opened and showed a new tab.
°System Note: The [Services]-Tab has been opened. For any service needed, you can exchange 'currency points', which will from now on be abbreviated as 'CP'. You can exchange the local currency for CP, which will be used to power the system. Any action by the system will cost CP and can be exchanged for at any time. The first [World Travel], Skills and Appearance were created based on the whole wealth the caravan head prior to the travel, as no inheritor was given. The exchanged currency will disappear from the real world and fully transform into CP, so take care of your accounts.
Reading that, it finally made sense to Lien why he was able to traverse the world. It seemed that the System somehow transformed the currency or money he had into its own power, enabling it to let him travel and enhance his skills.
This made a significant stone in Lien's soul fall, for it meant he hadn't made a deal with some devil in disguise, but truly with his families' spirit, one that gained power by absorbing wealth. It also somehow explained to him why his family wasn't wealthy at all during his father's generations – the spirit told him that it would ask the family head at their dying moment whether they wished to go to the afterlife faster or obtain the ability to travel.
The wealth of the family would dump with each death because most of those that had the chance used it to go faster to the after world. But additionally, to that, if one took the chance to travel… then sure the whole wealth of the family would disappear. The system obviously didn't tell him that, because he didn't have an inheritor in the first place.
It made him happy, for it meant that not some god or devil gave him the power – no, it was all himself and his own lifework. This also enhanced his goal of experiencing and trading his whole 'afterlife'. From now on, he could do much.
Lien opened the new tab [Services], only to find one panel added to it.
> Transport Animal
- Full Feed and Care: 1CP
- Training: 1CP
- Attain Skill: 10CP
°System Note: You can train your Transport Animal and let them become stronger in various ways. No Life should be restricted in their path! If you wish to keep your animals, it is strictly recommended to enhance them and let them become your true companions.
Lien was once again happy about the note. It seemed the system, well, more like family spirit, truly knew what he wanted. He wished for Shire Horses, and it gave him Shire Horses. He wished to keep his horses for as long as possible, and it gave him the option to let them progress with him.
He took the brushes and combs and went outside, looking at the horses and approaching them. He smiled and the horses neighed at him, coming closer. He held his free hand out, letting them sniff it.
Then, he took the soft brush and lightly cleaned their faces. He did that with all horses, treating them well and good. He had one worry in his head as the brushed and combed them.
