In the darkness, Matthew moved forward silently like a nocturnal civet cat. Although only six millimeters in diameter, the fiber rope on his body could withstand tens of tons of tension, which was the only thing he relied on now.
He couldn't find a borrowing point from the surrounding environment and could only rely on his toes to move forward on the wall in a "Z" shape with incredible difficulty. His toes gently touched the wall without making any sound; this sensitivity and quietness seemed to be his innate talent.
Matthew finally reached the end of the passage, the security door open as if inviting him in. He breathed a sigh of relief; at least here, he didn't need to go through the trouble of opening another door.
However, the gangway behind the door gave him a moment of confusion. He didn't know anything about the spaceship, didn't know where he was now, and didn't know where this gangway would lead. All he could do was hold onto the gangway and carefully climb downward.
Suddenly, a few metallic knocks broke the silence of the air and reached Matthew's ears. His heart snapped, and he immediately turned off the laser light in his hand.
He never liked to make himself a conspicuous target, which tended to kill him the fastest. He squinted his eyes, trying to adjust to the darkness while pressing his ear against the metal wall, listening carefully for movement around him.
He heard footsteps, yes, footsteps indeed! His heart raced, but he was sure he hadn't misheard them. He discerned the sound's general direction, then crouched slightly and slowly drifted in that direction.
Groping in the darkness was something that immensely tested one's will. The surroundings were pitch black, and he wasn't familiar with this environment; finding the lurker was like finding a needle in a haystack. However, Matthew didn't give up; he wandered erratically, searching for that faint hope.
However, he soon realized he had completely lost his sense of direction. It hadn't been long since he broke away from the gangway that he was in this awkward situation.
He dared not turn on the laser light to expose his position and could only rely on his senses to move forward. However, the complexity of the terrain far exceeded his imagination, and he felt as if he was caught in an endless maze.
Fortunately, he still had the fiber rope tied to his body. It was his only comfort and reliance at this moment. Otherwise, he couldn't believe he would still be able to return to his original place.
Suddenly, the sound seemed to become closer and closer, gradually approaching his side. Matthew was so nervous that he couldn't dare to utter a single breath, and he pressed his ears tightly to the floor, wanting to obtain more information. However, as he had put his ear to the floor, all the sounds suddenly disappeared. It was as if the sound that came faintly just now was just his hallucination.
A layer of fine goosebumps rose from Matthew's skin, and he couldn't help but shiver, knowing that he couldn't panic at this moment, only remain calm.
Matthew waited in the darkness for a long time but did not find anything unusual; he began to wonder if he was overly nervous that he was hallucinating.
However, he knew that he couldn't keep hiding like this because the time for the life box was running out. Every second seemed highly precious, and finding the life-saving equipment one step earlier might determine his life or death.
Matthew was determined to start his journey of survival no matter what. He knew that although this might make him a target for the enemy, in comparison, his own little life was more important.
However, just as Matthew was about to turn on the laser light on his wrist, a strange change suddenly occurred. His body, which didn't have an ounce of weight, suddenly seemed desperately yanked by someone underneath.
The highly nervous Matthew did not hesitate to draw his dagger, and with a flip of his right wrist, a biting cold light was searingly visible in the darkness. His attack was so swift that he thought it was a sure thing, yet it unexpectedly fell short.
Matthew was slightly stunned, and in this moment of confusion, his vast body hit the ground with a thud. Even though Matthew's physical body was strong, he was still dazed from the fall.
Almost simultaneously, a white light suddenly flashed before his eyes, and Matthew's eyes opened as if he were blind. Under the horror, he subconsciously rolled sideways and hid under a large cabinet floating behind him just now. However, he never expected that this action to protect himself would become his nightmare.
With a loud bang, the large metal cabinet weighing more than three hundred pounds did not have the slightest obstruction and solidly smashed onto Matthew's body.
Due to the sudden encounter with an intense light in a highly dark environment earlier, Matthew's eyes were temporarily blinded. Before he could return to normal, this blow, comparable to a light armor attack, left his mind in a daze.
The large metal cabinet smashed down from as high as three meters; Matthew only felt a sweetness in his throat and could no longer hold back a mouthful of blood, then fainted.
All the lights were on at this moment, and the debris and clutter floating in the air also fell to the ground. The sudden appearance of gravity made the entire room suddenly become much drier.
The gangway entrances were suddenly closed, and the ceiling was slowly filled with oxygen.
Matthew knew nothing at the moment as he lay there in a wide-open position, weighed down by the vast metal cabinet, with only his limbs exposed. Suddenly, the room door was opened, and a clean-cut teenager and a person whose whole body was wrapped in armor walked in.
As if he had discovered a new continent, the teenager shouted in surprise, "Six, look, there's another person here!"
The armored Six walked over and quickly hitched up the sides of the metal cabinet, and as if it was effortless, he lifted the metal cabinet, which weighed more than three hundred pounds, and then gently put it to the side.
The whole process was so easy that the metal cabinet was like foam in his hands.
Number Six turned Matthew over and scrutinized him, then surprisedly said, "This man is still alive!"
The teenager looked at Matthew incredulously and said, "It can't be; how can this guy still be alive after being crushed like this?"
Number Six was also surprised, "It doesn't look like he possesses such a strong life force!" Matthew's body type appeared rather slender, wholly mismatched with the power contained within him, and highly deceptive.
Number Six suddenly frowned and said with some suspicion, "This person is unfamiliar; it seems like I've never seen him before."
The teenager also said, "Yeah, I've never seen him. And the material and style of his clothes are so strange and rare; we must not have such clothes on our ship."
Six nodded in agreement. His gaze inadvertently swept past Matthew's hands, and he suddenly saw the dagger in Matthew's hand.
Number Six's pupils suddenly contracted, and he could tell at a glance that this was a dagger used entirely for actual combat, and the eerie chill on it seemed to flaunt the fact that it had reaped more than just one life.
Number Six quickly grabbed at the dagger with both hands; he would never allow a stranger of unknown origin to hold a murderous weapon in front of the young master, even if this person might be seriously injured. He must possess caution, and it was his duty to protect the young master's safety!
However, when Number Six was about to touch the dagger, Matthew suddenly woke up leisurely. The first moment he opened his eyes, he saw a metal hand that quickly grabbed at him ...
