Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: A Massive Fleet Approaches

Matthew and his companions had been waiting for five days. Unlike living on a human-inhabited planet, there was no sound in space. The empty silence was extremely testing on one's willpower. Many people couldn't bear such solitude and were unwilling to embark on space travel. Spending too much time in extreme silence could easily lead to a breakdown of one's mental state. The vastness of the universe only added to the pressure that this silence exerted on the human psyche. So, although the conditions for solo space travel had been met, there had never been anyone to attempt it.

For Matthew, this was nothing out of the ordinary. He had lived alone on the junk planet for many years and had long since become accustomed to a solitary life. If placed in a lively environment, he would actually find it uncomfortable. In his innermost being, there was a complex mix of emotions about the life ahead: curiosity, fear, worry, longing...

But for Charlie and No. 6, this silence was a test. Matthew rested with his eyes closed, but he was only half asleep, maintaining a high level of vigilance. Seeing Matthew seemingly asleep, Charlie had no choice but to engage in conversation with No. 6, seemingly attempting to dispel the frightening silence through conversation.

Suddenly, a strange sound echoed. Matthew abruptly opened his eyes and sprung up from the ground, and Charlie and No. 6 also stopped in their tracks, turning their gaze to the pulse console.

Displayed on the holographic screen was a massive fleet of spaceships.

Charlie and No. 6 couldn't help but exclaim in surprise, then quickly became overjoyed. Charlie was so excited that he even hugged No. 6, causing her golden hair to blush, a flush creeping up her snowy neck.

Matthew wasn't as excited, instead carefully observing the fleet. Unfortunately, he had no knowledge of space vessels and couldn't discern anything from them. However, judging from the occasional emergence of mecha troops from the side hangars, it was evident that they had already taken notice of them.

Charlie let go of No. 6, smiling at Matthew. "This alarm system is really lousy. If I had known, I wouldn't have used it!" The laser radar was severely damaged, and unbelievably, the damage was internal. With Charlie's genius skills, it was barely repaired. The alarm system was also broken, so Charlie had to replace it with another sound emitter, but the sound was really unpleasant, hence Charlie's complaint. Pursuing perfection was his nature!

No. 6 ran to the control panel and activated the laser lamp, sending out a flashing distress signal.

Seeing the distress signal, the speed of the other side's mecha troops noticeably increased. But even though their speed increased, their combat formation remained intact, indicating that this was a well-trained team.

Matthew asked in a serious tone, "Do we have weapons?" This was Matthew's habit. Regardless of the situation, he always wanted to put himself in a position of initiative rather than passivity.

Both Charlie and No. 6 were taken aback. Matthew added, "If there are mechas, even better!"

No. 6 shook her head. "There are no mechas. And those mechas belonging to the stranded individuals are all specially customized by their families. They can only be reused after being returned to the family for special identification processing!" The mechas were not bound by identity.

Matthew couldn't help but feel disappointed. Suddenly, Charlie remembered something and hurriedly rummaged in a corner. After a while, he ran back excitedly, "I made this dagger for fun. I usually use it as a tool!" Giving something he made himself to someone else, Charlie already regarded Matthew as a friend!

Matthew took the dagger. It was all black, the laser-treated blade was extremely sharp, and it had been treated for anti-skid, giving it excellent handling and stability.

Matthew nodded, "The toughness of this dagger is pretty good, but the curvature design is quite poor!" After saying that, he held the tip of the dagger in one hand and the handle in the other, gently bending the dagger into a bow shape. Then, releasing one hand, there was a light buzz, and the dagger returned to its normal state without any deformation.

Charlie's mouth hung open in disbelief, and upon hearing Matthew's remark about the poor curvature design, he blushed and said, "You're really strong. This knife was just something I made for fun, and I didn't think much about it at the time!"

No. 6 wasn't surprised by this. She had experienced firsthand how strong Matthew was, this monster; he was truly terrifying, unlike a human.

No. 6 was about to put on the micro-mecha, but Charlie stopped her with a hand, "Your mecha is too conspicuous. It's fine at home, but it's very inappropriate outside. Besides, wearing that mecha is like wearing a shell, very uncomfortable. Hmm, you're so pretty; it's a pity to be trapped in a shell!" No. 6 lowered her charming face, feeling a sweet sensation in her heart.

Thomas looked at the three people in front of him. A young master

, a maid, and a bodyguard.

Thomas's attention was mostly focused on Charlie. Charlie exuded a strong noble disciple's aura and was humble, polite, and well-mannered, showing an excellent upbringing in every aspect. However, there was not a trace of arrogance typical of a noble disciple, most of whom came from long-established families. Only those families with a long history would not be as bold as Parvenus.

These families had experienced ups and downs in the long river of history but have persisted to this day. Many other families that were once as glorious as them had long been lost to history, leaving no trace behind.

Extensive connections and generation after generation of talent ensured the continuity of these families. Their restrained demeanor, rather than being ostentatious, made them more acceptable to others. However, nobility was not self-proclaimed; it had to be recognized by everyone. Nowadays, the number of noble families is scarce.

If he could establish a relationship with one of these families, it would mean countless wealth and a bright future. Thomas's eyes lit up even more.

Thomas enthusiastically conversed with Charlie despite not having common topics. He still responded politely. No. 6's stunning beauty made everyone on the ship secretly glance at her, whispering occasionally. Later, someone even specifically came to the door of the control room to sneak a peek.

No. 6, who had never experienced such a scene before, couldn't help but feel embarrassed.

Among the three, it was Matthew who was the least conspicuous. With average looks and lacking Charlie's elegance, let alone No. 6's extraordinary beauty. When Charlie said he was a bodyguard, Thomas couldn't help but size him up doubtfully. Such a thin and weak person was also a bodyguard?

Matthew wasn't really thin and weak; "proportionate" was a more appropriate description. However, compared to the muscular and robust arms and legs of other bodyguards, it was no wonder Thomas thought he was thin and weak.

Only the captain of the mecha troops gave him a few more glances, looking pensive. Without a doubt, Thomas was a master at adjusting the atmosphere. Seeing No. 6's embarrassment, he scolded his subordinates and dispersed them. Then, he and Charlie began to talk warmly again. Of course, Thomas knew what these kids liked, so he bragged about his adventurous experiences when he was young and the customs and cultures of various places. The three of them were deeply attracted by his words, indulging in a reverie, and Matthew was no exception.

In the control room, laughter filled the air, and the atmosphere was warm. None of them could have imagined the danger that lay ahead of them...
