Chapter 19 - Letters

He opened and read those letters one by one.

"Hi Sweetheart,

It's mama here. I know you must be confused right now. But, don't worry about that too much. As you have me and the others with you on this. So, just make sure to eat and rest well.

Don't burden yourself too much. I would've loved to be there for you but that old hag, which is your grand-devil-ma stopped me. In fact, I'm sure she will censor these letters too. But, forget about that. Just come out soon. Mom missed you.

Love you and, again, don't stress yourself. Irrespective of whatever happens, your father and I will always be there for you.

With love

-Mama"

Throughout the whole time he spent reading this, Jayce had a smile on his face. Especially in the part where his mother mentioned his grandmother as a devil-ma and an old hag.

"Pfft... next."

...

"Hi, son.

I know even now, your mother would've made sure to keep her letter at the top. And you must've read that first.

But, well again. It's the same thing overall. Don't think father does not put a lot of effort into standing up for you. As your father, I will protect you with my life if the push comes to stave.

So, don't worry and take care of yourself. We'll see for ourselves what is so great about being the head candidate. Also, come out soon. Your mother must've hid it from you but ¥^$÷×`¢`{`[$^¥π∆π§...."

"Mmm?"

Jayce raised an eyebrow at the part which was damaged, or damped so much that not even impressions could be seen.

"Is it the censor mom mentioned?"

...

"Hi, Jay.

I know it's hard, but I'm not really a person good with letters. So, come out soon and let's have a heart-to-heart conversation. By the way, did you hear? At the party last night, that blue dress....(went on for another two pages) So, yeah. Just come out soon. We have a lot to talk about, and it's difficult to write everything down.

With love,

-Aunt Samantha."

Jayce's face dropped at this. He knows how much of a chatterbox his aunt is. So, he didn't want to even imagine the 'heart-to-heart' conversation that she wished to have.

'Like hell, I'm meeting you afterward.'

...

"Hi, Jay.

I'm not sure what to say. But, cheer up. We are with you. So, come out soon. We'll have a heart-to-heart talk, go outside and play or tour the city. I heard that the famous circus party 'jumbo' had come to our city. So just come out soon already.

- Joey."

'Sigh...no wonder they call them alike. She can't go there by herself because aunt Sam won't let her consider what's happening in the family right now and her enrollment in the academy that's coming soon.'

'So, she's trying to make me her bunny.'

'Again, Like hell I'm meeting you afterward.'

...

"Hi Jayce.

It's your uncle Leo. I'm sure you are already overwhelmed by the letters of others that are filled with love and care that they have towards you.

I'm not going to say those same words over again, but I will just say this, remember, you're no different from Joey to me.

'There's no point in thinking and lamenting over a broken egg. If it's broken, then just make an omelet with it.'

This is something a friend of mine said to me when I was young. I know it sounds lame, but hey, the point is great. You're a smart person, you must've got it.

So, MAN UP. Let's face it head on.

-Leo."

Jayce frowned at those last words.

'Man up? Did he hit his head or something? Why is he saying that to me, a 5-year-old?'

'Sigh... So it seems, he had been aware of it for a long while. Then father and mother should have been completely aware as well. Yet, all this time, they never treated me differently or made me think that I'm odd.'

He smiled slightly. Even though he thought of that possibility when he heard from his grandmother about his acting. It's still touching to him.

"Mm? There is a note at the back?"

He turned the page and there were some notes left behind by his uncle Leo.

'Or it might be my grandma imitating his handwriting.'

"Note-

Your mother and father went on a rampage trying to enter the door forcefully when they heard about Clara leaving you in your room by yourself to think this through, but your grandma sealed the room with a Monarch level barrier. So, they had no choice or way and accepted her conditions half-heartedly after an intense argument.

Also, your grandfather, Taylor, had gone out due to some important issues. Otherwise, he would've either written a letter like others or disregarded the barrier and tried to break it.

So, don't blame them."

That's what was written on the back of the letter.

'Gramps left?'

Jayce frowned. He was sure that if it's not something that cannot be avoided, he would not leave at this situation.

...

After reading those letters over again, well except his aunt and cousins letters. He placed those letters inside a drawer and went to the bathroom to freshen up. Jayce then opened the food box and started eating his breakfast, but his mind was still in a mess.

'I can't run away or hide. If I did, I would get caught.'

'I can't be lethargic, otherwise I would be beaten in the competition causing the entire family to suffer and I might have to face death.'

'I can't slow down the process to get more time either. I would be forced to fight them regardless when those guys reach that level.'

'I don't wish to die or cause problems to the family, but is there really no other way but to train like crazy?'

'Being forced to do something this heavy even though I'm not even a tiny bit interested is just too...'

As he was thinking about these things in his room, a storm was brewing in the outside world.

By the way, the name of the world Jayce living in is also called earth, the same name for Edward's planet too. So, I will keep the word earth reserved for Edward's planet and address the current world as I did in this chapter.
