Chapter 19 - Contact Takayuki

Honda Rimi actually had no choice.

When the entire family's burden was placed on her alone, she had no choice.

She came here just to confirm if this was a scam.

At least so far, the other party hadn't asked her to prepay anything, so it shouldn't be a scam.

In this terrible situation, as long as it wasn't a scam, even if she was tricked into working for free for a few days, she could still accept it.

Just as Honda Rimi left, several obviously interested people came to inquire about the job.

But when they saw that there was nothing in this building and that Takayuki looked too young, they all frowned unconsciously and left without much explanation.

Takayuki had already been prepared for this result. Today, he was just tidying up this building roughly.

In the next few days, he would find a construction team to do some simple decorations here, and then contact some suppliers for office supplies.

To officially open the company, it would take at least three or four days.

After cleaning up until four or five o'clock, Takayuki closed the door and left.

When he returned home, Sayuri hadn't come back yet.

This puzzled Takayuki a bit because normally Sayuri should have come back earlier than him.

The places he arranged for her to visit for job interviews weren't far away, so she could have finished them all in a day.

He didn't know where she was.

It wasn't until this moment that Takayuki suddenly remembered that he should get a cellphone.

In this era, which was equivalent to the technology level of a decade after his previous life, flip phones were already popular.

But being busy making game consoles made him overlook many details.

It seemed like he needed to find a place to buy a phone tomorrow.

Entering the hallway in slippers, Takayuki noticed that the phone's signal light had been flashing.

It seemed like someone had left a voicemail.

This made Takayuki even more determined to get a phone.

At least he wouldn't miss any calls.

He walked over to the phone, turned on the recording, and continued undressing.

In the voicemail, a somewhat familiar voice came through, and upon closer listen, Takayuki could distinguish it was the bald entertainment hall manager's voice.

"Hello, Takayuki, this is Ota."

The bald manager's name was Ota Tadashi. Takayuki had known his name since signing the purchase contract for the game console and they had exchanged contact information.

But a call from him just a day after seemed unusual. What could he want?

It shouldn't be to urge the progress of making the game console, right?

"Sorry to bother you, I'm sure you're busy these days, but today there's a strange guy over here who insists on finding you no matter what."

"He looks like a salesman, but he won't say what he's here for. I just couldn't stand his endless chatter, so I thought I'd give you a call. He left his contact information, saying you can call him anytime. It seems like there's a good deal to be made."

"A salesman?"

Takayuki glanced at the phone.

Ota's voice continued, "The phone number is... If you're not interested, Takayuki, you don't have to call."

"Okay, I've already made the call, so you can leave now, right?"

This sentence obviously wasn't part of the message left for Takayuki; it was directed at the annoying salesman, showing his impatience.

A salesman.

The fact that someone managed to contact him at this time must be related to what he was currently doing.

Anyway, there was nothing urgent, so he might as well contact him first.

So, he returned to the phone and dialed the number left by Ota Tadashi.

Hiroshi Tomita was in a terrible mood today.

He had been ordered to kneel down and be scolded by his boss for over an hour, and he wasn't the only one being scolded.

He really didn't know what his boss did besides scolding people, unlike them, the salesmen.

Now the factory's orders were dwindling, with only a few meager overseas orders barely keeping them afloat.

And there was no hope for any major breakthroughs in the coming years.

He heard that the economy in China seemed to be slowly rising, and there might be a lot of opportunities there.

But usually, they didn't get to handle overseas markets at his level as the lowest-tier salesman.

After being scolded for an hour in the morning, they still had to work.

Helpless, he finally remembered the game console that his son had been talking about incessantly for the past two days.

He remembered that the kid said there was already a place to play, so he didn't need to pester him every day to buy it, but it required continuous spending, and the kid also told him a place where they could play the electronic game together. It seemed like he was really looking forward to playing with him?

With his strong sensitivity to electronic products, he decided to go and find out where the game console was located.

He soon arrived at the entertainment hall opened by Ota Tadashi.

When he arrived, his son and a dozen other children were gathered near the entrance, shouting loudly.

Each child seemed really engrossed, paying no attention to anyone approaching.

Then he quietly observed the game console and the way it was played for a long time.

After observing, he came to a conclusion: this thing wasn't complicated.

With their company's level of technology, making it wouldn't be a problem at all.

Simply put, they were just a subcontracted circuit board manufacturer. As long as they were given the schematics, they could handle any kind of circuit design.

At least in his opinion, this was definitely much simpler than manufacturing commercial, industrial, or household computers.

Of course, if he could dismantle the machine's casing and check the internal structure, he could understand it more clearly.

But it was impossible for the manager here to agree to that.

If he tried to dismantle it, the other party would probably swing a baseball bat and knock him unconscious.

So, he began to subtly coax the manager, hoping to find out the company that produced this product.

Ultimately, in the annoying situation, the other party personally made a phone call.

Ota Tadashi couldn't directly give Takayuki's contact number.

But now Takayuki was his cash cow, and he hoped that Takayuki could provide him with the remaining nine game consoles as soon as possible for a big profit.

He was worried that if he casually gave his contact number to someone he didn't know, it would annoy Takayuki, leading to dissatisfaction and cracks in their future cooperation, which was something he didn't want to see.

So, he had to make the call himself.

"Okay, I've already made the call, so you can leave now, right?"

"Understood, understood." Hiroshi Tomita smiled, while also taking out some small gifts and placing them on the manager's desk as a gesture.

Seeing the other party directly offering gifts, he didn't want to take advantage of the situation and continue being overly friendly. He simply waved his hand, hinting him to leave.

Hiroshi Tomita was just trying his luck.

He thought this game console had never appeared before, and it was likely a prototype from some company.

Seeing how enthusiastic the kids were, it definitely had future market value.

He might as well try to contact the company for subcontracting orders before the product was fully finalized.
