Chapter 32 - Speech

While I was thinking about that, the place got silent, and everyone waited for the vampire queen's words. However, she furrowed her eyebrows while looking at me.

"Oh, it's speech time. Do you want me to rally the troops to their deaths?"

"Why did you have to say that out loud?"

Roskarl couldn't help but facepalm. For someone who looked like a lich, he still had a conscience, and that was kind of interesting. In any case, I had already given them a speech the previous day, and I wasn't preachy enough to do that again, so I decided to joke around.

"Attention, mighty orcs! It is I, your esteemed new leader, here to deliver a rousing speech that will have you charging into battle with the enthusiasm of a rabid warg! Now, I know what you're thinking. "Why, oh why, did I have the luck of being born as a lowly orc, destined to be nothing more than cannon fodder for our overlords?" Well, my yellow-furred brethren, let me tell you something. Luck has nothing to do with it! It's all about embracing the glory of the battlefield and the thrill of an excellent old-fashioned skirmish!

The orcs looked around at each other in confusion… Melody raised her eyebrows, knowing that was preparation for a war. It wasn't time to joke around. Roskarl looked even more exasperated than usual. It was really fun to get on everyone's nerves.

"Yes, my friends, you may not have been blessed with the brains of humans or the beauty of elves, but you make up for what you lack in refinement in sheer brute strength and unparalleled ferocity! Why, just the other day, you guys made me tire quite a bit, after all! So, my fellow minions, I say to you: it is time to embrace our destiny as the vanguard of war! Let us charge headlong into battle with reckless abandon, screaming our battle cries to the heavens and striking fear into the hearts of our enemies! For today, you may be mere cannon fodder, but tomorrow...well, tomorrow, you will probably still be cannon fodder. But hey, at least you will go down swinging your weapons, right? To victory...or glorious defeat!"

A huge silence took over the area… as expected. I wasn't going to succeed in such a task when my communication skills rusted so much, thanks to my high school friendless years. It was just asking me math… Why are you asking me math, you bitch?

"Anyway, we are heading to the frontlines. This gramps here who needs a suntan will explain to you all what you will need to do today. Tomorrow at this time, we will be fighting the enemies and taking their heads. I will grant you one silver coin for each enemy you kill. So work hard, my minions."

With a mighty roar that echoed across the city, the orcs raised their weapons high above their heads, their voices blending into a powerful noise of savage enthusiasm that sent shivers down the spines of even the bravest warriors. Their cheers filled the air like a thunderous battle cry, a primal declaration of their readiness to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Then, as if in perfect unison, the orcs brought their weapons crashing down to the ground with a deafening thud, the sound reverberating through the earth like the pounding of drums. Each impact sent shockwaves rippling through the ground, creating a rhythmic cadence that seemed to pulse with the heartbeat of the battlefield itself.

While greed wasn't part of them, the desire to buy a lot of food with the money was something that agreed with the orcs, food, and booze. One might wonder where I would get so much money to pay for their work, and one might also wonder how many of them would survive the battle. They weren't exactly brilliant, after all, and I was planning to use them to get as strong as possible.

While Roskarl was explaining to them the footsteps that they needed to take, I wondered if I could take the sin essence of those I didn't kill… I expected that I couldn't since that would make the system even more broken, but I at least could check that during the battle tomorrow.

I wanted to move to the battlefield already and check the area, but it seemed that we had to wait for Roskarl. That was fine and all, but I could feel the vampire queen's eyes. While being stared at by a babe wasn't bad, the issue was her sadistic sense… it made my instincts go haywire, telling me to run for the hills. I was starting to understand why the previous Deimos decided to betray the monsters, but maybe I was being too harsh.

For guys who never had a girl who truly loved them, having a yandere love them seemed like a dream coming true, but I knew better than that, and things weren't that simple and convenient. Although it had never been used until now, the binding spell made me realize how much bad news yanderes were. Since she didn't do anything too harsh until now, I couldn't be that suspicious, but my surviving instincts couldn't be telling lies.

Regardless, after waiting for one hour, Roskarl returned, and then we began to move. After using the same magic circle to head to another one in a dark forest, we moved to another in a swamp. After that, Roskarl teleported us directly to the area of the fallen fortress.
