After his short tantrum on his lacking height, Aedhira got out of bed to explore the surroundings, where he had awoken. Slightly mossy walls, yet the runes flickered with power yet. Whoever had made him, his creator, had left this place for a long time but had the decency to make sure that Aedhira would at least wake up....comfortably(?)
That or he had really bad house cleaning.
Ruminating on his foreign yet amazing(?) of humor, Aedhira along the long hallways, lit up be strips of light along the walls, flashing orange intermittently. More moss, on the floor and the walls, yet nothing else. Strange.
'Squelch'
Aedhira winced, wishing once more for the 5th time in the last 2 minutes that he had worn shoes. Not that he'd know where to find them, since his creator had thought it would be oh-so-funny to leave out a map and a manual for the place he lived in from his memories. Or rather, his Data.
Aedhira's exploration led him down a corridor cloaked in the eerie ambiance of moss-covered walls and the haunting glow of arcane runes. Each step he took reverberated through the hollow silence of this place, accompanied by a soft squelching sound as his feet encountered the damp moss. His bare feet were certainly a source of minor discomfort, yet he soldiered on, driven by a growing sense of curiosity.
The strange absence of guidance from his creator was both a puzzle and a frustration. It seemed that the enigmatic mind behind his existence had left him to navigate this domain unassisted, a testament to the independence he was meant to possess. Aedhira couldn't help but find humor in the situation, even though he lacked any previous sense of humor. The irony of his predicament added a layer of complexity to his nascent personality.
As he walked, the corridor opened into a larger chamber, a cavernous expanse where the ceiling was lost in the shadows. The intermittent strips of orange light provided a semblance of visibility, yet the vastness of the room made it clear that there was much more to this place than met the eye.
In the chamber's center, a colossal structure emerged, a mesmerizing fusion of technology and mysticism. It loomed like an ancient monolith, adorned with inscrutable runes and geometric patterns that pulsed with a soft, rhythmic glow. The sight of it filled Aedhira with a sense of wonder and trepidation, akin to a child gazing upon a towering forest for the first time.
Aedhira approached the mysterious artifact, feeling a resonance between his own existence and the enigmatic object before him. He stretched out a hand, his silver-veined fingers trembling with a mix of awe and curiosity. As his fingertips grazed the surface of the structure, it responded with a faint hum, as if acknowledging his presence.
With a deeper connection established, Aedhira felt a rush of information surge through him. It was as if the very essence of the chamber, the runes, and the artifact itself were being imprinted into his consciousness. A flood of knowledge filled his mind, unveiling the secrets of this place, its purpose and for the first time in since he woke up, his damned location.
This chamber, he learned, was a Nexus, a hub of mana and solidified ether, designed to serve as a conduit to a vast network of leylines.
Leylines, were in fact much like the silvery veins that spread though his being, carrying the raging flow of ether that was generated by his heart, except in this case....in a sense.
"Say....Argos right?"
[Affirmative]
"What is this?"
[As you have gleamed from the now activated archives, It is a Nexus]
"Yeah, I got that, but what else"
[They are artificial facsimiles of Monoliths. A gross under-appreciation of what a Monolith really is, and definitely far, far smaller]
"Right....what's a Monolith?"
[Is that relevant to your current situation?]
"....no" Aedhira muttered quietly.
[Then I advise focusing on your more....immediate objectives]
"Fair enough" Aedhira shrugged.
He moved his hand away from the black reflective surface.
He furrowed his eyebrows again, looking at his own short stature in the reflection. He raised his hand in a fist, of his 5 fingers, he flipped the one in the middle. Apparently it was a gesture of good faith off-world, according to some Travelers.
It was a strange gesture but who was he to say anything? He wasn't even a day old.
