Chapter 10 - The Shadow of Green Light

"Need to open a vault for your own wealth for a great price ?"

"Okay, Gringotts is always waiting for you."

After walking out of Gringotts, Felix looked at the small bag in his hand with interest.

The bag bore the Gringotts logo emblazoned on it, and it was made of fine fabric, which was quite decent. Felix sensed two types of magic emanating from it.

One was used to expand the space within the bag, while the other stabilized the former to ensure its effectiveness.

For about a year or two, its expansion space was about two cubic meters.

Felix tucked the bag into his sleeve and, after a moment, handed the empty bag to Harry.

"Here you go, use it to store things later," Felix said.

Harry quickly accepted it and weighed the bag, noting the clanking sound it made.

"I'll reimburse you for the extra change," Felix said as he walked forward without looking back.

Harry nodded quickly, a little panicked. "Thank you, Uncle Felix."

Felix ignored Harry. At that moment, he was observing the wizards coming and going around him, feeling a sense of abruptness.

Why were these individuals dressed...

No different from the seventeenth century when he was in Pirates of the Caribbean?

Or perhaps they were dressed in a manner conforming to the stereotype of wizards that ordinary people held, wearing old robes that completely covered their bodies and emanating the scent of herbs.

Had these wizards deviated from the normal world?

So strange...

"Uncle Felix, where should we go first?" Harry asked as he approached.

"The bookstore," Felix replied. He had noticed a large bookstore named Flourish and Blotts on their way to Gringotts. It seemed promising.

He was now very interested in the magic system of this world, its magical history, and the structure of the modern and contemporary magical world.

The bookstore wasn't crowded. Felix quickly perused the shelves and found not only various magical books but also many magical publications in this world, with pictures that moved.

This was intriguing.

"Sir, would you like to purchase Hogwarts entrance textbooks for your children? We have bundled packages available at a discount," the store clerk offered.

Felix nodded, thought for a moment, then decided to take a look.

Guided by the store clerk, Felix browsed through all the books from first to seventh grade at Hogwarts.

"A Thousand Herbs and Their Properties," "Elementary Transfiguration," "Modern Magical History," and so on.

"Are all grades required?" the clerk asked, somewhat uncertainly.

Felix couldn't quite grasp the clerk's thought process and was momentarily stunned before replying, "I'd like to review them."

"Um...Alright," the clerk nodded, somewhat baffled.

Afterwards, Felix resumed browsing the bookstore. He skimmed through the table of contents of most books before deciding whether to keep them. Unfortunately, most of the books here were published works, meaning the knowledge they contained wasn't particularly advanced.

However, there were still some promising options. For instance, he believed he could find clues to higher-end knowledge in books like "Dark Wizards of Ancient and Modern Times" and "The Origins of Alchemy".

There was a saying that Felix wholeheartedly agreed with,

"The more books you read, the more you realize your lack of knowledge, and the more you understand which books you should read next."

So far, the book he was most satisfied with was "Household Spells".

It contained numerous spells for washing dishes, doing laundry, quick-drying clothes, and cleaning dust.

So practical.

Moreover, the spells were simple and easy to learn, making them suitable for even young wizards. It was the perfect choice for introductory reading.

Harry would definitely enjoy learning these spells.

Absolutely!

About half an hour later, Harry exited Flourish and Blotts Bookstore with a bulging bag in hand, containing all the books Felix wanted to purchase.

It cost over 300 galleons.

Even the proprietor of Flourish and Blotts Bookstore was taken aback.

After leaving the bookstore, it was about noon. After a casual meal at a nearby eatery, Felix sat outside a coffee shop to rest.

He had sent Harry to the snack shop. Given that Harry had glanced at it several times as they passed by, Felix decided to give Harry some time on his own.

More than ten minutes later, Harry returned to Felix with a cheerful expression. "Uncle Felix, open your hands."

Felix was a bit puzzled but complied, feeling Harry place something squirming into his hand.

Was it a caterpillar? Or something else peculiar?

But as a seasoned wizard and Animagus, he refused to be startled.

He extended his hand, and suddenly, a black object leapt towards his face.

Grasping it firmly, Felix realized it was a chocolate frog.

"Admittedly, that startled me," Felix said sincerely.

"Not at all, uncle. Your expression didn't change at all," Harry said, somewhat disappointed.

Felix didn't offer any defense, instead standing up, straightening his coat, and smiling. "Not revealing emotional changes to others is a basic requirement for a mature wizard. Though my outward demeanor remained calm, my heart was racing."

"Perhaps... perhaps," Harry replied, still unconvinced that Felix was startled, before asking, "Where to next?"

"Knockturn Alley."

Felix had heard about it just moments ago. It was said to be a bit different from Diagon Alley.

Perhaps it would be more intriguing.

He was quite curious.

Knockturn Alley was just behind Gringotts, and they reached its entrance in just a few steps.

Here's the revised version of the fanfiction with corrections and adjustments:

Different from the outside, when Harry stepped into the alley, he caught a whiff of a vague smell. The ground was littered with sewage, and black and green moss adorned the corners of the walls, some of which had crumbled.

The uneven bluestone steps underfoot varied in length, making it challenging for first-timers to descend. They had to carefully navigate each step.

After traversing no more than ten meters, the walls on both sides began to sport dark and dirty windows, and the path widened into a broader space.

Ascending the disorderly steps, Harry finally looked up, only to be greeted by a shriveled human head, which startled him.

"This is witchcraft from the American tribes, passed down since the Age of Discovery," Felix explained promptly, as if he had eyes in the back of his head.

"The Jivaro tribe in the Americas would decapitate their enemies to create these human heads, imbuing them with special powers through witchcraft to strengthen the tribal warriors who carried them. In addition to the Jivaro heads, there are also Maori heads, similar witchcraft artifacts. It's primitive, bloody witchcraft, and, of course... very powerful."

Felix's tone remained calm and steady, gradually lessening Harry's fear and drawing him closer.

He felt... this place was entirely different from Diagon Alley.

At this moment, several ragged wizards observed their entrance, whispering amongst themselves and casting malicious sneers without hesitation.

The wizarding world was a small circle, and most who ventured into Knockturn Alley were already acquainted with it. They could tell at a glance that Felix was a newcomer.

Before long, several individuals approached, forming a semi-circle around them.

One of them drew his wand first and aimed it at Felix. "How dare you come to Knockturn Alley after withdrawing such a large amount of money. Boy, hand over all the money you just withdrew."

Felix was taken aback. "Did you witness me withdrawing money?"

The man smirked wickedly. "Sorry, I saw it with my own eyes." With that, he cast a spell at Felix.

"Expelliarmus!"

A swift red bolt shot from the man's wand toward Felix at a speed too fast for ordinary reaction.

"Uncle Felix!!" Harry dashed forward, attempting to shield Felix.

Felix swatted the curse aside with ease, much like swatting away a mosquito, and glanced at the man. "Then why don't you ask yourself why I dare to come here and face the likes of you?"

"Boy, you've only known me as a wizard thus far," Felix suddenly addressed Harry.

"What?!" Harry, still in shock, struggled to comprehend.

"Don't confuse me with the likes of them," Felix ruffled Harry's hair.

Harry looked up, seeing the familiar faint smile.

At ten years old, Harry began to grasp the meaning behind that smile.

Absolute arrogance.

"Boy, what do you think the wizarding world is like?" Felix inquired once more.

"Damn it, what are you talking about?!" The wizard, infuriated and feeling deeply disrespected, cast another curse.

"Crucio!"

Simultaneously, others brandished their wands, sending various spells, all in the form of electric lights.

"Still resorting to mere flashes as a simple form of magic expression?! Truly disappointing," Felix muttered to himself, then snapped his fingers lightly.

Snap—

A wave of blue energy emitted from Felix's hand, swiftly dispersing all incoming spells.

"Let me enlighten you. Regardless of its beauty, when extraordinary power falls into private hands, the system will inevitably assert itself with strength," Felix stated calmly.

He glanced at everyone, waving his hand, causing seven gleaming spears to materialize, each corresponding to one of the surrounding individuals.

Harry looked at Felix with a dawning comprehension, swallowing nervously.

"Avada Kedavra!!"

In that moment, a green light bloomed before Harry's eyes.

Felix's towering figure began to tear and shatter before his eyes, as if ripped apart by a fierce wind.

The scar concealed beneath Harry's scarf suddenly stung, and another figure, vanishing in the green light, seemed to blur with reality before his eyes.

Tears welled uncontrollably as he reached out to grasp Felix's dissipating form.

"No!!"
