Chapter 17: Beast's Amour

They continued on running until they've reached the barrier. But they're in a shock on what have they've seen.

"Wait wait wait! Where's the caster? Are we in the right place?" Akadagi stuttered.

"Yes, we are. Even though we're off on the location, the caster should be nearby and they can't leave the place while they're casting the barrier spell." Kofalu answered with questions starting to form inside of him.

This piece of information triggered a memory inside of Makino.

'Magistoids' magic and their proclivity in using it can be unpredictable. You need to think wise before you go on a battle with them.'

'Ardugo.'

"This can't be right. How come? I did feel something is wrong, but the scope of this is tantamount." Arlandy said.

"Something is wrong? Something is wrong!? That would be the understatement of the calivaru(century)!" Akadagi shouted at him.

"Please stop it. We're also getting confused here at what is happening now!" Havati interjected between his banter.

"He's right. This was just supposed to be a simple request." Kofalu calmly told them.

"Simple request! Yeah sure, most of the request we got can be demeaning to us, but it doesn't automatically take our lives with it. Or..." Akadagi angrily interjected before coming to a haunting conclusion.

Makino, in the background, comes to the same conclusion.

"This is different and still get us to do their dirty work. Most probably for amusement or experiment." Arlandy concluded Akadagi's conclusion.

This sent everyone on a state of quiet anguish and terror. Makino saw them and can see the expression in their metallic faces that was being plunged into despair. Another memory triggered by that scene. His comrades and survivors on Earth. And now, the farce that they were in.

"No." The reply snapped the mech's anguish and looked upon him.

"I'm not letting this. I won't just stand by to hopelessness. This @#$& they're pulling onto us, I won't let it happen again. Not on my watch!"

This caught them yet again in their guard. Kofalu and Arlandy especially.

'Again? Did something of this magnitude happened to him? Even though he's an Armanben?' Arlandy thought.

'So he's been there too, huh? No wonder he's working to company full of Kaidels. Something to get away from that world.' Kofalu thoughts on him.

"So what are we gonna do now? You have an idea, Sir Altor?" Kofalu then asked him.

"I have an idea, but we need to be more cautious in intervening moments." He replied.

"This whole setup was to trap the beasts and us here for some sick reason. I personally know that it was the case. The reason many of us got killed by them was because we're complacent over the issue. So in order to survive, we have to put our guard into the outmost." He continued looking up in the horizon when he realize something.

"I now know those beasts are actually quite weak at the moment."

Another gasp was produced by that comment.

"Wait, what do you mean weak? That monster decimated almost all us. And you're saying that it was weak!?" Akadagi asked in confusion.

"Yes. It was."

((I don't need to write what his response is. You could see it a mile away.))

"According to what I've heard, the Fakadi was a much monstrous creature than what we've seen there. And from what I've seen of its movements, it wasn't fast as what is on the description." Altor said.

"Then how fast it is?" Arlandy asked of him.

"Double- no- triple than what was before." He answered.

"But... But still, it evicerated everyone. How can we stop it?" Havati, with fear in his face, questioned him in fear.

Altor looked at him in his scared state and said.

"I know. But with a proper plan with... everyone involved, we can do this."

Everyone had their spirits lifted up by his statement and nods in agreement. After this, they began to cook up a plan, even when Makino was having an uncomfortable feeling around them.

------------

Makino is running off with Arlandy through the empty crossroads, enacting the first part of their plan.

"Hold on your guard. We can't fail on this one." Altor said to Arlandy.

"Right. Don't worry. My magic maybe not up to notch, but I can still do my part." Arlandy said to him.

They stopped to a some plaza of sorts with their guard ready, looking at the different roads ahead of them and figuring out where to go next. Arlandy then pulled off his holographic map being projected above his head.

"We're here at Makatirio Avazi(plaza). This roads ahead are leading to 3 different directions in this part of the sector. What lies ahead of them are many normal lodgings and commercial buildings for businesses." Arlandy explained while he trace his finger on to the map.

"This place might be the best spot for us to lure the beast, here at the Avazi to lure them out." He continued as he jot down a point in the map with his finger.

"Agreed. So let's begin then." Altor signalled him to enact his part.

"Ok. Here it goes." Arlandy readied himself and lift up his arm in the air.

"Mavolo Colovati!"

A spark lit up from his hand that gets bigger and shot up from the sky, producing a thin sliver of lightning. It's light might not be on the standard, but its accompanied with a rumbling thunder, just what they need.

"Would that be enough, Altor?" He asked to him.

"Yes. You did a great job." Altor replied to him.

This comment sparked something from inside of Arlandy: a sense of pride and admiration.

'You're really something, aren't you. What kind of environment you had that you've ended up like that?' He quietly thought.

Meanwhile, at the place near the barrier.

"The plan is in motion, ey." Kofalu said as he sees the lightning Arlandy produced.

"Hope this plan isn't gonna sink immediately." Akadagi snuffed.

"Hey, wouldn't gonna kill you if you just play along nicely?" Kofalu rebutted at him.

"Come on, please just trust Sir Altor. His sounds tight. Just please for this once, play along." Havati calmly told to Akadagi.

"Fine." He groaned but obeyed nonetheless.

"So I wanted to ask this to him, but I kinda can't because, well he's an Armanben. But that's the thing, why do he do all the thing he had done until now. Working in the mines, not getting a huge pay and participating in this request. Just why? What do you think of it, Kofalu?" Havati asked his lingering questions to Kofalu.

"I can't say that in full knowledge, but this I could say: he must've been put in a rough patch by the others. The world of the Armanbens is not what you ought to think. That's all, remember that." Kofalu broodingly warned of him, sending shivers to Havati.

They've waited there preparing for the next phase of the plan to proceed, as did Altor and Arlandy. But turns out, they didn't have to wait longer.

"They're here." Arlandy said.

"Yeah. What we needed." Altor told back in response, as glowing eyes and the sound of scraping metal started to fill the place. The plan is in motion.

-------------

"Grrrrr...." The wounded one growled, as ambrosia is leaking from what once it's eyes, heard the thunder. It was frightened by it and balled up covering it's metal ears, as it was scared and injured alone at the mouth of the alleyway.
