Ava's POV
I headed back into the party and saw Ezra sitting with my friends, a smile on his face. How could he smile? It felt like a stab in the heart. Sighing, I approached them, unsure if I should tell him about Isabella leaving with a man. But for now, I didn't want to add to his pain. I sat next to him and took a sip of my cocktail.
"She left... because of an emergency," he said, disappointment evident in his eyes. I nodded, understanding his disappointment, and gently patted his back.
"Yeah, don't be too sad. It's your birthday, and it's not a mourning session. Hahaha, we've got a lot of activities prepared for this day," I said, trying to cheer him up. But he shook his head.
"I'm not happy at all. I didn't prepare this for myself. Since she left, I don't think I still have a reason to do this," he confessed, and I couldn't help but sigh. What about me? I had spent weeks practicing with him. Did it mean nothing to him?
"Okay, if that's what you want, then excuse me for a bit," I said, getting up from my seat. I knew he was disappointed, but I couldn't let his fans down either. They had come all the way here to celebrate with him, and it would cause a backlash if we did nothing tonight.
"Where are you going?" he asked, grabbing my hand. I smiled at him, masking my disappointment.
"I'll go downstairs to at least entertain our fans," I replied, gently removing his hand from mine.
".... Okay, come back when you're done," he said, his voice filled with resignation. I nodded, realizing that he didn't even want to watch me perform. It was a bitter realization, and I couldn't help but laugh at myself for expecting anything more.
"Ava, we'll come with you," Chloe and Aubrey offered. I shrugged, feeling a mix of bitterness and gratitude, and we made our way downstairs. People were having fun on their own, but deep down, I still wanted to sing the song I had prepared so hard for.
"Ava... Hayss, you don't have to go this far, you know?" Chloe said, concern evident in her voice. But what can I do when I love Ezra?
"Just have fun, don't mind me. Hahaha, maybe you can find your love life here," I replied, trying to lighten the mood. They laughed, but deep down, I knew they weren't interested in finding love tonight.
As I made my way to the stage, the crowd erupted in screams and cheers, their excitement palpable. I glanced around, hoping against hope that Ezra had changed his mind, but he was nowhere to be seen. It was a pathetic hope, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment. He doesn't give a damn about me, even just a friend.. well he's just sad so ... I won't blame him anymore.
I strummed my guitar, the sound filling the air, and the room fell silent as everyone anticipated my performance. I didn't know what it was for, but I wanted to sing this song to everyone who, like me, was in love with someone who would never love them back.
The melody I played was hauntingly lonely, each note resonating with the pain and longing in my heart. The lyrics poured out of me, carrying the weight of unrequited love and the bittersweet realization that some love stories are destined to remain one-sided.
As I sang, I could feel the emotions in the room, a collective understanding of the ache that comes with loving someone who will never return those feelings. It was a dramatic moment, filled with raw vulnerability and a sense of shared heartbreak.
In this version, I aimed to create a more dramatic atmosphere, emphasizing the loneliness and heartache that Ava feels as she performs her song. The focus is on the unrequited love theme and the emotional impact it has on both Ava and the audience.
"Ava... Hayss you don't have to go this far you know?" Chloe said but I just smiled. What can I do when I love him?
"Just have fun just, don't mind me hahaha maybe you can find your love life here," I said and they laughed.
"I'm not interested," the both said and I just nonchalantly nodded cause I knew that they were both naughty...
I went on the stage and greeted the people. They're all screaming and cheering like a normal fan's reaction. I told Henry to start playing the drum and piano while I grabbed the guitar. I looked around just to check if Ezra had changed his mind but he wasn't there... I'm just pathetically hoping for nothing.
I strummed my guitar and people became quiet trying to feel my lonely melody. I don't know what is it for but I just want to sing this song to everyone like me.. someone who's in love for someone who'll never love us back.
As I began to sing, I looked out into the crowd and saw the faces of my fans, their expressions mirroring the emotions conveyed in my song. It was a powerful moment as if we were all connected through the shared experience of unrequited love. The raw emotions in the room were palpable, and I couldn't help but be swept up in the feelings myself.
But in the shadows, my words remain,
A secret longing, a whispered refrain.
Just look my way, turn your eyes to me.
As I sang that verse, a wave of bittersweet memories washed over me. It reminded me of the time when I had mustered up the courage to confess my feelings to him. But just before I could approach him, I witnessed a tender moment between him and Isabella. He leaned in and gently kissed her forehead as she slept peacefully. At that moment, I realized that he had already found someone to love, and it wasn't me. It was a painful realization, but also a stroke of luck that I hadn't confessed my feelings, or else I got rejected on the spot.
Through the noise and laughter, my voice is small,
But in these verses, I lay bare it all.
With every verse, my tears run deep,
A symphony of emotions I silently keep.
I paint my love in hues of gold and blue,
A canvas of emotions meant just for you.
As I sang that part, the room fell into a solemn silence. Instead of the lively atmosphere I had anticipated, my heartfelt lyrics moved the audience to tears. With a bitter smile, I noticed Ezra standing at the stairs, his gaze fixed on me. Our eyes interlock when I'm singing the last part of my song.
"But the palette of your heart remains unknown,
Will you choose those colors, or leave mine alone?"
"Kiyaaaa Ava! Ava!!" The crowd yelled, their voices filled with excitement and energy, bringing me back to my senses. I was able to gather myself and continue singing two more songs, entertaining both the lively audience and my own heart. After the performance, as I made my way upstairs to join my friends, I accidentally bumped into someone.
"I'm sorry," I stammered, looking up to apologize to the person I had accidentally bumped into. To my astonishment, it was William standing before me. I couldn't help but feel dumbfounded by the unexpected encounter. As I met his gaze, he reached out and swiftly took the drink from my hand. Confusion filled my mind as I wondered why he would do such a thing.
"You'll kill your throat if you drink cold water. Drink this instead," he said, placing a glass of a different drink into my hands. His words were sincere, and I couldn't help but be taken aback.
"Uh, thanks," I managed to say, taking a sip from the glass to cover up my awkwardness.
"I'm William," he introduced himself, and I nodded, well aware of his popularity among everyone.
"Can I have-"
"Ava! You're done?" Ezra's voice suddenly interrupted from upstairs, catching my attention. I gave him a thumbs-up to signal that I had finished.
"What did you say?" I asked William, hoping to hear his request. However, he simply smiled and replied, "Nothing, I'll see you in school." With that, he turned and left, leaving me perplexed. I had thought he was going to ask for my number, but it seemed that wasn't the case.
