It was dawn when I felt the ground brush against my feet as I floated in the water, and a little further ahead, it stopped me. I opened my eyes as much as the exhaustion would allow, realizing we had reached solid ground.
"Maia," I murmured as I lifted my face in her direction.
"Did we make it?"
"I think so."
I tried to stand up on the sand, and when I managed, I stabilized the board so it wouldn't wobble with the constant waves. Maia raised her head, revealing her tired, dark-circled face from our long, sleepless night trying to survive.
"And where did we land?" I asked into the air, hoping my memory would recognize the landscape.
"It looks like Lacrontte because that seems to be the Bridge of Shells."
I looked in the direction Maia was pointing and confirmed that the structure was indeed the Bridge of Shells.
"In that case, we're quite far from the capital."
"And only a couple of days away from the exam."
